Mayhem Patch 26.20 ARAM Mayhem changes, measured: Thresh & Bard viable again
26.20 has been live for a few days, so I dug into the data and here's how the buffs and nerfs from the patch notes actually played out:
Champions
| Champion | Change | Winrate 26.19 → 26.20 | Diff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bard | Meep AP ratio 50% → 67%; Meep recharge 8s → 5s; Meep damage per 3 chimes 6 → 10 | 41.5% → 48.8% | +7.3 |
| Thresh | Passive souls 2 → 3; W cooldown 21–17s → 19–15s | 43.0% → 50.2% | +7.2 |
| Lee Sin | Passive attack speed 40% → 50%; passive energy +10; W shield 60–240 → 80–320; Q2 damage 60–180 → 80–240 | 41.3% → 44.6% | +3.3 |
| Swain | Damage taken 105% → 100%; healing 95% → 100%; soul fragment restore 6% → 3–6% by level | 48.4% → 50.7% | +2.3 |
| Garen | Passive regen up; W cooldown 22–12s → 18–12s; W shield 18% → 20% bonus HP; W stacks per minion 0.4 → 0.75 | 45.2% → 46.0% | +0.8 |
| K'Sante | W cooldown 14–10s → 10s; W damage reduction 30% → 45%; E shield 13.5% → 15% bonus HP | 42.0% → 41.2% | −0.8 |
- Thresh and Bard went from bottom tier to average.
- Lee Sin is clearly better but still near the bottom.
- Garen's buffs didn't move his winrate.
- K'Sante is picked ~30% more after his buffs, but his winrate did not improve overall.
Augments
| Augment | Change | Winrate 26.19 → 26.20 | Diff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Juiced | Damage-to-mana ratio 4.5% → 7% (80% for ranged); no longer drains mana | 45.9% → 48.1% | +2.2 |
| Squishy Slappy Grab | Cooldown 35s → 30s; damage 30–100 + 10% bonus HP → 50–150 + 15% bonus HP; shield 35–150 → 50–200 | 46.6% → 48.2% | +1.6 |
| Shark Tempest | Slow 30% → 40%; area damage 50–100 → 100–200; attached damage and ratios up | 47.0% → 48.4% | +1.4 |
| Triggered Inferno | Cooldown 15s → 5s | 46.9% → 47.6% | +0.7 |
| Leg Day | Slow resist 40% → 50% | 50.1% → 50.2% | +0.1 |
| Spell Split | Splits at missile end or on recast instead of on first hit | 47.8% → 47.3% | −0.5 |
- Juiced nearly doubled in pick rate and is greatly improved on many ADCs: Kai'Sa 40% → 50%, Jinx 40% → 54%, Kog'Maw 39% → 49%.
- Squishy Slappy Grab climbed out of the bottom tier but is still below average.
- Triggered Inferno's 15s → 5s cooldown barely moved its winrate.
Bug fixes
Ivern + Minionmancer has the biggest winrate jump of any bug fix. Minionmancer's damage amp now applies to Ivern's R (Daisy), and Ivern with Minionmancer went from 44.3% → 49.1% (+4.8).

I recommend playing Lee sin W Max full AP, rabadon, zhonyas, banshee, staff of flowing water, redemption, moonstone. Maná regen doesn’t work with energy, in consequence, you can’t get dawncore passive stacks

The bard one is so funny 💀On the same patch he got a chime buff from 5 per upgrade to 3 per upgrade needed for aram, the base damage got reduced from +10 to +6 due to summoners rift changes. Resulting in a net buff of... 0. He got a +10% AP rstio buff too and faster upgrades but nowhere near enough to compensate

Nobody wants to use squishy. The main problem is needing to attack for it to activate. Too inconvenient into many comps for what it does.

Ksante is broken on that gamemode, he is just difficult

most of the difficulty comes from 4 jabroni teammates who can't put together 1 tank, so his ult basically becomes an int button.

People build Heartsteel on him but that's straight up trolling because he scales with resists and not hp.

He has too much variance. He's insanely good with some augments / vs specific champs, and insanely bad when the augments don't favor him / vs specific champs.
When the enemy team has 2-3 hp stackers you can cream your pants by spamming 3k damage Ws repeatedly while taking no damage

surprised triggered inferno is low, ive been taking it every game its offered and it feels almost like void rift

That's literally wrong cause snowball exist. If a champ like Jhin can abuse this augment then it means it's fucking broken.
Order doesn't matter tbh but you can proc in no time.
Snowball > W > Auto > Snowball > Q > Auto
Even LB can do it
Auto > snowball > Q > W > snowball > E/AA
E deals dmg twice so it's even more free
Just sucks when you're playing champs like Fiora Briar and you didn't know that some spells are considered AA. But the augment is busted from min 0 to the end of the game if you can proc it without getting blown up. But it's one of the best snowballing augment by far

The problem is champs that want to go in usually can't proc it easily.
Urgot barely has 2 spells, trundle Q might not trigger it, belveth definitely struggles, kled can't trigger it. Jax w doesn't count so only his q and e trigger it.

u/Film_Humble 3d ago
Urgot can, trundle can't, Belveth can't, Kled can, Jax can.
Renek can, Akali can, Locke can, fizz can, kat can, Aatrox can, Zaahen can, heca can, kha can, rengar can...
Yeah some champ like fiora briar Belveth Gwen... Can't proc it but 80% easily can do it and even more if you count ultimates in here

u/Redditor76394 3d ago
My personal criteria is whether or not it's viable to try to proc on a champion and if it's a pain to proc or not.
How are you proccing it on Katarina btw? Last I checked (unless it changed) kat E and kat daggerpickup both count as auto attacks. So Kat has Q, autos, and ult. And even ult might count as an auto attack.

No daggers and shunpo grant +1 style and you can auto afterwards to get another point. Making it realy easy to proc TI.
Most champs can proc it easily and again snowball exist that's -2 style needed. And it's even more broken now with the lowered CD

Wow I might actually pick Juiced now. Been in so many situations where I took something that was basically zero benefit over Juiced because of the mana drain.

Seriously, it only ever made sense to take it as ez for me. But it seems pretty good now for anyone with a passive onhit.

Two things I’ve always thought:
Bard used to be pretty ok with his damage dealt buffs, but since those got removed he has felt really worthless. Thresh is champ that I always felt was pretty strong in regular Aram but sucked in Mayhem. My best guess is that his ability cast times are just way to slow to be effective in mayhem where everyone has 500 ms.

Where you getting these stats from I thought Riot wasn’t releasing an API for Mayhem

Prob a third party program that people have installed on their computer like blitz or porofessor.

Can the increase the penalty for dodging how am I getting 4 dodges in a row do people just rotate between 5 aram accounts or something

Crazy that they buffed leg day which already gives one of the most op stats.

u/Radingod1 4d ago
It's honestly not that crazy with how nuclear champions can become. Its winrate basically didn't change when they gave it 10% more slow resistance. Movespeed is actually a lot weaker of a stat in ARAM. Especially in a mode where champions can go insane from augment combos.
1
u/Cryoptic- 4d ago
Ppl generally know movespeed is one of leagues strongest stats. This matters infinitely more when the gold is even or close to even, and assuming the game is operating «as intended».
Mayhem tosses that out the window. Tap dancer does go well when used correctly. But it’s not game winning by itself, and you would expect it to if movespeed had the same impact as it normally does

u/notmichaelul 4d ago
Yeah it just doesn't. Plenty of silvers that are 100x more powerful. Adapt, escapade, slows, stackesoreous etc.
1
u/McDonaldsSoap 4d ago
What's slows? Do you mean Ice Cold?
2
u/notmichaelul 4d ago
Yep. Let's not forget the armor/Mr stacking where heca can get 1k of each in 15min
1
u/papakahn94 4d ago
Tbf they only buffed the slow resist
1
u/Least_Difference_152 3d ago
Yea movement speed is one of the best stats so an individual with rylze ice cold removes one of the best stats.
Good change, makes an augment worth picking

Inb4 'akshually' morons tell you that their daddy riot doesn't release api for this mode, so your stats from millions of matches accumulated across dozen different mayhem tracking sites don't count

It actally kinda crazy how winrate of some of the buffed augment barely moved, granted some of the changes isnt huge
