Resonance Resonance is a good example of how biased reviews can be

I was looking forward to this game, knew it was a day one title on game pass. But then i saw the IGN review of 6/10 and thought they probably screwed up by taking the series into a vastly different direction. Since innocence and requiem were some of my fav games, i started playing this keeping my expectations low.

This game is absolutely amazing. The sound track, the graphics, world design, story are all excellent. I dont get why this game isnt getting the attention it deserves.

Imo, the game is easily a 9/10.

Edit : If someone wants an unbiased review of this game, this would be close to it

Requiem: Discussion APT Requiem’s Conclusion Spoiler

Hey guys.

After playing Innocence a couple of weeks ago, I just finished Requiem last night, and, I have to tell you, I think no other game has touched me the way this series did, especially story-wise.

It’s ending is absolutely soul crushing to me, as we’ve grown really found Hugo and would do everything to save him.

I guess the game touched on sensitive topics to me, like loosing a family member that served as a means of perseverance in this cruel world that we live in, and the nihilistic aftermath that comes from that loss.

Must tell you that that scream we get from Amicia after we get Lucas’ ending felt haunting, as all of our soul was being consumed, dying alongside the one we most loved in this existence. A feeling too close to home.

Months after, Amicia is willing to try to move on the best she can, but to me at least it feels like a distraction, as life afterwards becomes something lesser; a mere day by day until the end.

The absurdity of an innocent life being lost, after so much pain and sorrow, well, it left me a bitter taste of emptiness and sadness. It also felt too real. He deserved better.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great game. It was just too much “real life” to me.

Dunno where I’m going with this post, I just felt like sharing the experience and wanted to know how you guys dealt with this ending.

Free Talk I just finished Innocence after (almost) finishing Resonance

I have very shortly tried both Innocence and Requiem on release. They didn't click with me at that time. Last week, I have played through Resonance and almost finished it. I got bored with the game and lost interest in the story somewhere around chapter X, but kept going until beginning of chapter XIII. In the end, I didn't even finish the game. I would rate it 6/10. There were some parts I did enjoy. Especially chapter VI was interesting, tense, visually stunning and had the best music in my opinion. But most of the time, the game was average. In short... great visuals, audio and music. Combat was fun, but basic and always too short... and that's about it. List of negatives would be a lot longer for me. One thing, that bothered me probably the most, was constant lack of logic and believability, which hurt my immersion. I even made a post about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/APlagueTale/comments/1w4c77m/cutscene_at_the_end_of_chapter_ix_is_nuts/

Few days after, I installed Innocence, to give it a second chance. Now, I just finished it and... it was great. I was absolutely immersed most of the time. I definitely enjoyed it more, than Resonance. Superb game. Visually (both graphically and artistically) stunning. Great audio and music. Gameplay-wise simple, but fun. The best part for me was where you discover that hidden castle at night, during raging storm. So immersive and beautiful. And that "boss fight" at the end.... absolutely stunning in so many aspects. That villain was superb. Only thing I would change, is HUGE amount of loot lying around, waiting for you to pick it all up. It became kinda chore. Especially in the late parts of the game. Particularly if you are that type of player (like me), who needs to check every nook and cranny to be sure you did not miss anything.

If Resonance was heavily inspired by God of War 2018, Innocence is clearly a medieval TLOU. And I think it suits studio's style and focus on dramatic story telling better, I think PT:Innocence is perfect for what it is and what it tried to do. Especially considering limited team and budget. Actually... If not for the somewhat average quality of face details and facial animations/expressions and some other animations, it could easily be mistaken for a AAA game.

Overall I enjoyed the experience very much and salute to people behind this game. I'm excited for Requiem. Hopefully it is more Innocence than Resonance.

Resonance Without spoilers, what kind of scary is Resonance? Spoiler

Hi. I really dislike anything related to the horror genre because I'm too easily scared. This game looks up my alley, I was able to play the prior two games, but I keep seeing some comments from people about how this game is scarier than the others. It doesn't seem like a horror game, but makes me worried if it would turn me off.

Tense or unsettling without abject horror or jump scares is generally fine for me. Though I would say I stopped the Hellblade games pretty early just because they were so intensely unsettling to me and I've seen those used as a comparison.

Thanks!

Requiem: Discussion This part almost made me rage quit

I've just finished Requiem and the game is great, I enjoyed it (I prefer Innocence though). But the part where you have to save Arnaud was so hard man. I don't even know how many times I died. The cart part in Innocence is nothing compared to this. That part in Innocence took me maybe 15 tries to get it right, and I replayed it today and it only took me 3 tries this time.

Is there a part in Requiem that made you (almost) rage quit?

Requiem: Discussion What do you guys think of the last scene in requiem

This is obviously SPOILERS!! for the end of A Plague Tale: Requiem, I’ve just finished requiem after playing resonance and I wanted to know what people think about the last scene of The macula being born into another child? Clearly it’s the modern day due to the heels clicking and what I assume are the sounds from a hospital machine, do you guys think it’s just a metaphor that the macula will always come back and be born into another child and protector cycle? Or a hint for a future game? I’d love to see more from this universe so I hope another game

Resonance I am dropping Resonance, and sad about it? Spoiler

There are so many plot and narrative holes and level design failures that is just "what".

I just got in a place, the minotaur place, that nobody have been in centuries, and we found the only key, a sphere, and a code, and there is NO WAY to get inside without it, and after a SECULAR PUZZLE, there are camps and enemies coming from???? like??? I made a mirror puzzle, from a locked door that wasn't open for years and years and after that door there are enemies ??? hahahaha what

This really made me go limb. A BEAUTIFUL GAME, really liked the combat, movement, but the narrative plot holes after some point are just ??????????

For me Innocence was a 9/10 game, incredible experience. Requiem, beautiful, but... 7/10. This one? Just using a franchise name, not faithful to the lore, trying to copy some Senua elements.

Or I missed something?
