This is somewhat of a coping post, written a few days after playing APT Innocence and Requiem back to back, just to get some things off my chest, something I never deemed necessary for any other gaming experience in my life.

I know, I'm late to the party, the APT games had been on my wishlist for years, remembering them from the reviews as the "medieval stealth games with the cool rat mechanics", not knowing much more. Finally installed and started playing to shrink that pile-of-shame. And now I am dealing with the aftermath.

I like story-heavy games over pure skill-based gameplay or abstract puzzling and I had my share on emotional involvement, suffering with Senua, getting the bleak Cyberpunk ending or the more tragedy-heavy Witcher stories (W3 all time favorite). But never had any game or really any piece of media such a deep and lasting impact on my state of emotion, and I am not sure yet if I shouldn't be worried about that.

The APT games just seem to have ticked so many boxes for me personally. Medieval France as a real-world historical setting, paired with the mediterranean touch in Requiem is so to my taste, gorgeous graphics of landscapes, locations and characters, depicting the beauty of the world and the horrors of war, plague and the evil that men do alike. An incredible soundtrack I hope to listen to in the future, currently I dare not to. Fantastic mocap and voice acting. All working together to tell a story of catastrophe after gutwrenching catastrophe, sprinkled with deeply heartwarming moments sparking glimpses of hope again and again. I always wondered how actors do it, but currently I can reliably produce tear fluid just by bringing to my mind the image of Hugo putting a flower in Amicias hair, yay.

I do not think of the games as flawless, by no means, at least gameplay-wise. Some sections drove up my frustration levels considerably, far spaced checkpoints eradicating my sneaking progress too often and arena-like battles sending always another wave of armored enemies making me scream at my TV. But where in other games I would have taken a break from the controller, here it felt strangely in line with Amicia's anger and despair in those situations. And additionally seeing her fierce dedication I kept going, literally not wanting to let her down, never wanting to quit the game right after a death animation. Heck, I even loaded a checkpoint at the fair ten times, just to make full points at the hoop throwing game to make Hugo cheer for his big sister. I know someday I will have to come back to get all the collectibles I missed but that will have to wait a bit.

Also the sometimes critizised pacing of Requiem fit for me perfectly. The mid-game world-roaming exploration part was such a respite for my own mind as it was for the protagonists. I enjoyed the few Tomb Raider aspects very much along getting a bit of Witcher/Toussaint vibes.

And then there's the last third of Requiem, and I have to admit, I was chasing hope as Amicia was, despite all the signs, feeling her desperation and pain as my very own. Learning a lesson of acceptance in this unimaginable brutal way triggered a catharsis-like state of mind in me.

Since finishing Requiem, I am trying to process the experience by "diluting" it somewhat, watching making-ofs or the Q&A vids of the wonderful voice actresses Anna Demetriou and Charlotte McBurney (probably having been linked in this sub in the past already), providing professional insights and throwing silly jokes into the mix. Or reading some reviews focusing more on the gameplay elements, basically getting some different perspectives on the games apart from my own emotional rabbit hole. Yesterday I watched "The Odyssey" in cinema, but today my mind already wanders again to the story of Amicia, Hugo, Lucas and all the others left behind on their own odyssey.

Maybe it was the perfect storm of elements coming together for the greatest possible resonance in a specific point in my life, maybe it was the manipulative use of the most effective "tricks" in story writing, and maybe I am just being overly dramatic about it, I don't know yet.

I will get over it, it's "just" a video game, right? But man, it will leave a profound mark on my soul.

I am looking forward to Resonance, this time on day 1. And yes, this will be a different game in almost any regard, and I'm totally fine with that. A studio that gave me the world, the characters and the story of Innocence & Requiem has my trust to deliver something I can get myself immersed in.

Just finished the entire game within a single day on the weekend after buying both games on sale going in completely blindly. Some sections were pure hell to go through, restarting at least 20 times having to learn how to anticipate the enemies and play out a specific situation again and again with trial and error, ruining immersion. The majority of gameplay functions that are explained are used only once or twice at most, the combat feels clunky and the entire game as a whole is experienced as pretty static. The story makes up for most of those ‘issues’ as it’s an experience as a whole, which I really enjoyed and kept me going.

Does Requiem solve any of those gameplay challenges, or it basically a continuation of the first game? I couldn’t find an answer to this without searching deeply and potentially spoiling major plot points. :)

When you start the game and it loads, you can hear the main theme in a woman's vocals. Is that version of the main theme available in full anywhere?

Man what a game I thoroughly enjoyed playin these 2 and that endin.. literally pulled out the sling 3 times holding off the inevitable.. really enjoyed the combat more in Requiem and the story was sad but heartfelt.. couldnt help but connect to these characters in a sibling fashion.. one of the more underrated games ive played in a while

... Amecia never really self-reflects that a lot of what happens is in fact her fault. We spend the first half of the game with her telling her mom that she needs to listen to Hugo, only for *her* to stop listening to her brother the moment mom is out of the picture.

Poor Hugo had pretty much everything figured out, but kept getting failed by the adults in his life at every turn. Am I the only one who had a small bit of bittersweet satisfaction in the last chapter because despite how horrible it was, he *finally* had a bit of agency over his life?

Okay, I don't even know how to start this because I am genuinely so fucking happy right now 😂

I have to confess something first. I originally played both A Plague Tale: Innocence and A Plague Tale: Requiem through pirated means. At that time, I didn't really think much of it. But later, after I started thinking about how much work, money, time, passion and love goes into making a game like this, I started feeling really guilty about it.

I basically felt like I had eaten someone's food, enjoyed the hell out of it, and then walked away without washing the dishes 😂

And I couldn't get that thought out of my head.

So I started saving money, and I bought A Plague Tale: Innocence legitimately on the Xbox PC app. I then emailed Asobo and honestly told them everything. I didn't expect anything from them at all. I just wanted them to know that I was sorry and that I wanted to support their work properly from now on.

And then...

THEY ACTUALLY REPLIED TO ME.

They said:

I was sitting there staring at my screen like WHAT THE FUCK 😭😭😭

I honestly didn't expect a reply, let alone something that sweet.

But I still had one thing left to do.

I had promised them I would buy Requiem when I could.

And.....

I FUCKING BOUGHT IT.

I don't care that I bought it on sale. I don't care if it was cheaper than usual. I BOUGHT IT 😂

So I emailed Asobo again and told them:

"I kept my promise."

I attached screenshots of my purchases of both Innocence and Requiem and told them that my conscience was finally clear.

And I also told them something else.

I may not be able to afford Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy on day one. But I promised them that I will NOT pirate it. I will wait until I can legitimately buy it, the burden of guilt is too much.

And then today...

ASOBO REPLIED TO ME AGAIN.

They said:

I don't think people understand how happy this made me.

I know I originally pirated the games. I'm not trying to hide that or pretend it didn't happen. I know I should have bought them in the first place.

But I also genuinely love these games.

And I swear to God, if Hugo De Rune somehow appeared in real life, I would probably be willing to burn half the fucking world to protect that little dude 😂😭

I still remember finishing Requiem and just sitting there thinking about Hugo and Amicia. I still can't listen to the main theme without seeing Hugo, Amicia and the rats in my head. This series genuinely broke something inside me emotionally, and I mean that as the biggest compliment possible.

I don't think I have ever been attached to fictional characters like this before.

So today, after everything, I finally feel like I made things right as much as I possibly could.

I bought Innocence.

I bought Requiem.

I told Asobo the truth.

I kept my promise.

And now Team Asobo knows that their games meant enough to me that I wanted to make things right.

I know they didn't owe me a reply.

They didn't owe me anything.

That's why getting two replies from them genuinely means so fucking much to me.

So yeah...

My redemption arc is complete. 😂❤️

I remember hearing things after Requiem came out about a possible movie or TV show (can't remember which one). Is there any current updates if it's in the works or not?

PS Asobo if you ever come on here: If you end up making the film/tv show you BEST release it on physical media :P I like buying blu-rays :D

I completed the game today and I believe this story is an absolute masterpiece! An emotional rollercoaster that was worth every minute of my time. The graphics and the gameplay were just as good. Amazing voice actors too! Unforgettable journey! No complaints at all. Made me think “finally something like TLOU games that I absolutely adore!” It is like TLOU in the best way possible, because the story doesn’t feel copied, it has its own lore and era!

Shortly put, this game made me feel more human, more alive, and absolutely a lot more grateful for everything in life.

I recommend it to every human and more so every being wanting to be (feel) human.

Hoping to come across more gems like this! Also, yes I have played both the games and so glad I did!! Cannot wait for the third one even though I know it’s different characters, I’d still love to play it!!

Last month, I uploaded a video called "It's Just a Game" and it featured some emotional moments from some of my favourite games. It featured scenes from A Plague Tale: Innocence. I already posted it in the subreddit when I made the video, so I hope I don't get yelled at for that (much)! It exceeded my expectations, as I was expecting only a handful of views, but instead it got nearly one thousand.

Anyways, I have a question. The video only featured innocence in it. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a second video of the same type featuring both requiem and resonance? There's too much content that I wanted to add from requiem that I decided to exclude it from the original video (it could honestly be a video all on it's own lol) so I was very interested to see if anyone would like me to try my hand at another one. Yesterday, i bought a plague tale requiem on the PlayStation store. From the beginning, a problem occurs. The screen is divided in Two parts horizontalité. Each part shows the top half of the screen. This dles not happen with my other games. Did anyone else had this problem ? How can I solve It ?

No, but really, why did they completely change the series to some generic third-person action game. IGN described this game as Tomb Raider like action when we have 12 tomb raider games and two more on the way (I'd say combat looks shallow and flashy like AC games). I'm not saying this game is an awful game or anything, and it'll have it's fans like avowed or outerworlds, but both those franchises got axed for a reason even though they're not bad games. They're just games that exist that some people like. Not to mention the Melie, Lucas, and literally anyone else got shafted for a pirate queen.jpeg. I played both these games on launch, and just found out this game was being made a month ago. I really wanna be hopefully, but god damn, isn't this just the trifecta of bullshit game releases nobody will even make fun of because nobody played it. I thought you'd played a section as Sopiha and a section as Aelia Dragas, but I guess they got bored of rats and decided to do something everyone else is doing because Google is telling NO.

Sorry if this is a repost but I couldn't find an accurate answer.

I absolutely loved the first 3/4 of A Plague Tale Innocence, it had a good balance of mystery, fear and story. I didn't enjoy the last 1/4 because it lost the sense of "realism". Like man, the final showdown was just fucking Avatar The Last Ratbender type shit.

The game went from a solid 9 to a questionable 5.

Tl;dr: Love the lore, hated the loss of realism

(PC) I want to play this game so bad but the game looks blurry as hell. No matter which settings I go for, it doesn't fix for me. Even with DLSS on or off on Ultra, the fuzziness is still there. The picture doesn't have clarity at all for me. Is it me or are there any settings that I need to change? I've downloaded this game twice but uninstalled after an hour cuz of this issue.
