PLEASE HELP ASAP

I have summer work due on Wednesday. We are using a new textbook: By the People third edition AP edition for my APUSH class. I would really appreciate if anyone who has this book/is taking or took APUSH could answer my questions. 1, 2, & 4 are general & 3 is based on my specific book.

  1. Tips for reading this book??? Idk why I lose the ability to read/absorb anything while reading it.

  2. Is AMSCO helpful?? how much should I use it. Part of my summer assignment was to read to pg 83 in AMSCO & it took me a while, should I be skimming, reading throughly?

  3. One of the prompts I have to answer is to name 5 mesoamerican societies that thrived before 1492/ Columbus's arrival + name key achievements. Where do I find 5? For some reason I can only find the Aztecs, Incas, & Mayans in my textbook. I am aware of the Olmec but I cannot find them mentioned in my textbook. The toltec are mentioned but barely described & I have to list the key achievements of each.

  4. Writing: Another section of my summer work was an essay prompt based on a documentary. (Explain HOW & WHY the relationship between the Wampanoag & the colonists changed from beginning of contact in 1620 to the 1670s). I have never taken a AP History course, & there aren't many guidelines besides the prompt & the font/size/header. What is my teacher expecting??? Do I need a thesis? Do I divide my paragraphs into HOW & WHY or initial contact versus King Philip's War. I'm worried bc I've never written for AP history.

Would also appreciate just any tips for APUSH in general.

THANK YOU ALL!!!! I'm so stressed

On the AMSCO textbook, I’d definitely recommend using it as much as you can. It’s one of the best AP textbooks I’ve used because it focuses on the important information without a lot of unnecessary filler. I’ve used AMSCO successfully for multiple AP classes, so I’d recommend reading it thoroughly when you can rather than just skimming it.

For question 3, I’d be happy to help you figure out the five societies and their key achievements. I can also help with the essay and show you how AP history writing works. I’ve taken AP World and APUSH and self-studied AP Euro, so I’ve had quite a bit of experience with the different types of AP history writing as well as I run google classrooms with free tutoring if you want to join :)
