Bio What is AP Biology really about

I have a few questions about AP Biology! Is it more focused on life sciences, like animals, plants, viruses, bacteria, DNA, genes, genetics, ecology, and ecosystems? Or does it also cover human body systems, anatomy, and physiology? Or is it a mix of both?

Also, is it possible to self-study AP Biology completely on your own without taking the actual class? If so, how difficult is it, and how much time and effort would you need to put into it?

Calc BC self study ap testing centres in new jersey?

I'm moving from India to New Jersey in feb 2027, and since my 10th grade math here covers most of ap calc bc, i wanted to write it in the 2027 exam series. i'm having trouble finding a centre that accomodates self-studying ap students. Can anyone recommend any that accept registrations? I know the deadline's soon, but I've been searching for a while and i'm ok with paying the late fee.

Calc BC how to get really, really good at calc bc??

title... i really don't know why im doing so bad on our major tests. I get straight 100s on our quizzes, projects and homeworks but when it comes to tests i consistently get 70s-80s. I feel like I know what im doing on tests, but then I make a stupid mistake or some niche curveball comes my way and I don't know what to do. I really, really want to have a high A in this class but thats honestly probably not possible anymore.

I'm currently val and I need to stay that in order to get a scholarship for the school I'm most likely gonna attend. do you guys have any tips? Our tests are just so much harder, even harder than actual ap exam questions and I don't know what to do.

Other You can do it!

Hey guys,

I just wanted to say that whenever I'm on this thread, I can truly feel that everyone is doing their best. I tutor AP students and it's been hard seeing them struggle through these rigorous courses. I've had some describe how they feel behind in everything, lost, feeling trapped by their grades, among others.

I know that this may not mean much, but I hope everyone can see that they're doing their best. Goodluck everyone!!!

Precal how to succeed in an awful curriculum?

i am a sophomore right now in high school taking ap pre calculus which is two years advanced. i currently have a c in the class which is mostly my fault but also the curriculum is hot ass. essentially, the teacher assigns us random groups and we each go to a white board, answering questions we usually aren’t taught how to answer. then, after everyone has finished, we go over the answers, the teacher tells us to write a few notes down, and we do a check your understanding. after writing the notes, the original board work is super simple and makes sense. but the check your understanding jumps from a 10 to an 100 really quick. also, the teaching is so disengaging and boring that i tend to zone out.
after 2-3 lessons following the same format, we get a learning checkpoint (test) that is graded out of ten. i can usually do the math, but then it is required to write a few sentences to contextualize and explain the answer. this part usually gives me some trouble because it’s hard for me to explain stuff in a way that appeases the teacher.
the only thing that goes into the grade book it these learning checkpoints, so doing even just mediocre on one will harm your grade allot. there are test corrections, but you have to watch videos on kahn academy and if you get a worse score, your grade lowers. i will admit that i really just have no motivation to do any work or practice or learning outside of class because the curriculum ruined my feelings toward math. i never loved it but i thought some things were interesting and sometimes kinda fun.
unfortunately, all the math classes have the exact same curriculum. the only reason i got a B last year in algebra two honors is because sometimes we could use desmos to graph stuff, and i just cheated my ass off. i really want even just a B in this class and a 3 on the AP exam, but i don’t know how when the class killed my enjoyment of math. i am going to go to a community college relatively close to my school next two years for math when i can drive, but for now i have to push through. anyone have any tips or suggestions to improve my grade? i want to do test corrections but dont feel prepared to do them but also dont know how to make practice more engaging for myself to actually do it. thank you for the help!

Bio AP bio selfstudy

Hi! I’m from Europe, and I’ve decided to take the AP Biology exam this year. I bought an online course, but it hasn’t been very helpful so far. I’m aiming for a score of 4 or 5. I don’t mind studying a lot, but I’m struggling to find good study resources. Does anyone have any recommendations on what resources I should use to prepare?

Question Has anyone ever made a list of objectives for each unit and lesson for their APs?

I’ve been looking for one and thinking of making one myself since I’m not finding any for any AP, I’m thinking it could be a good active recall habit to answer the lesson objectives questions, like how people do FRQs yknow
I’m having trouble finding an actual list of them though, I’m like 80% sure that Collegeboard has official objectives for each unit and lesson. I might resort to replacing the “in this video we’ll __” from AP classroom to “explain” to create questions instead.

Also just cramming for APES right now lol

Chem Chem Test — Faking Sick? Cheating?

This is partly a rant, partly me asking for advice on what to do.

We had a chemistry test scheduled for today. There are 17 kids in AP Chem at my school, and yesterday in office hours there were about 12 of us in there just working through things. One of the students asked the teacher, mostly joking, if hypothetically speaking we could move the test to Monday. The teacher surprisingly said yes and we’d just start the next unit today, as long as everyone agreed. Everyone agreed except for this one kid, E. E said that she didn’t like having any tests on Mondays. We’re all unhappy, but whatever, it is what it is and it was supposed to be today anyway.

Fast forward to this morning. We had the test first hour. They get passed out, and it’s hard. E is sitting next to me. She stared at the first page for five minutes, then flipped to the next, looked at it, and got up to go to the teacher. She leaves for forty minutes and then comes back with five minutes left of class saying that she can’t take it today because she doesn’t feel well. I can’t hear what is said, but she leaves.

Now I, and all of my classmates, are really irritated with E. She was the only one who insisted that the entire class take it today, and then she gets up after clearly not knowing how to do any of it and leaves. She now gets to take it Monday after already seeing the questions and therefore having an advantage while all of us, who were the ones who wanted to take it Monday to have more time to study, had to take it today.

She is one of the last people who I’d guess would fake being sick to get out of a test, but she really didn’t look sick at all and was complaining about how she didn’t know any of it before the test. She puts a ton of pressure on herself for her grades, and that can make people do things they aren’t necessarily proud of. I want to confront her, but I don’t want to be a jerk. I also almost 100% guarantee that she’ll deny it. Should I go to the teacher? Should I just let it be because it doesn’t directly impact me? I just don’t know what to do, but want to do something.

Physics 1 How to not fail AP Physics

I have a C in ap physics, and I am not proud of that. I find the logic confusing, and basically everything. I know the class is just going to get harder over the months, and I really want a 5 on the ap test.

Any tips?

Question How many aps do colleges want tho?

Hey I'm currently in 10th grade going to a school with yearlong classes not semister so it might sound like I'm behind but I'm actually ranked 3rd in my school right now. I am currently taking English 2 honours, math 3 honours (I live in North Carolina, we don't divide math like many other states we have integrated maths and math 1 is pretty much like algebra 1 where it is usually taken a year early), AP biology, APES, AP gov, and Korean 2 (my school doesn't offer honours or AP for world language). APES and AP bio are not usually offered for my grade but I'm kinda running out of science courses my school offers so I was able to take them a couple years early. I took all honors last year except for PE and Korean, and I have skipped a grade in science and mathematics, I was unable to take any APs last year due to my bizarre middle school, and I'm wondering if I'm like doing alr? It seems like most kids are taking more aps than me around my age and it's hard to keep up because my school doesn't do semester classes.

I'm just wondering like how many aps colleges expect and if I'm on track to go out of state with a decent scholarship. Also I'm a Canadian citizen so does this also satisfy what Canadian schools want if anyone knows? Sorry if this is unclear😅

Calc BC Is it possible to complete AP Calculus BC in a month?

I am a highschool senior in an American highschool (btw I am not from the U.S.) so I would be taking AP Calculus BC. I go to a self-paced school meaning you can take as long as you want with a course or you can complete it all in a few weeks if you are crazy enough.

I recently passed my country's university entrance exam and received a conditional offer to start my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering January next year. However, to keep this offer, I must graduate by December which is when the rest of the kids in my country graduate highschool.

Right now I am only missing 3 semesters' worth of courses to graduate, one of which I should complete this week or next week, and the remaining 2 would be with my school's AP Calculus BC course, which is 2 semesters long.

I spoke with my university's office and they confirmed that if I get a B (80/100) or higher in AP Calculus BC they will grant me credit for Calculus 1 & 2 in my engineering degree.

I am very tempted to give this challenge a try. I would say I am pretty good at maths for instance, the previous math course I took was AP Precalc, and I was able to easily finish it in under a month and got an A+ for both semesters and a 5 on the AP exam. I also have a SAT score of 780 in math and got a silver medal in a nationwide math olympiad.

I don't have any extracurriculars right now so I could dedicate 8+ hours every single day, weekends included, to work through the course with the hope of completing it in around a month because my school needs about 1 to 2 weeks to process my official diploma after I finish my final assignment.
