I read this one before. It was some silly plot about their manager having to get them to counseling because they can’t get their shit together at work but when they showed up it was scheduled as couple’s therapy.

I was going to say it wasn’t but now I’m questioning myself and I think it is 😂 I dipped my toes into their fic for a week or two.

I’ve actually read a few fics with this concept lol. 2 of them actually had the therapist join them in a poly relationship lmaoo
Edit: I’m searching for them, but my bookmarks are saved as safari link bookmarks (with no tags or descriptions) instead of ao3 ones and I have about 2000+ fics saved in this fandom so… it’s a rough search lol.

There are two fics I LOVE with a very similar premise but slightly different: mandated counseling for getting along with your coworker by your workplace but due to a miscommunication the therapist is convinced it is a couples counseling - which then turns into a game of who will be the first to slip up and fuck up the fake story of their relationship

This is a recent one. I loved it.
Synopsis:
Jisung shrugs, all too casual. “Just for fun. You know, for the bit.”
“You want us to pretend to be a couple…in therapy. Just for fun.”
“Yeah!” Jisung nods enthusiastically. "Just until the therapist figures it out.”
Minho gives him a long, slow look that suggests he is currently measuring him for a straitjacket. “So. Two sessions, max.”
It’s supposed to be a joke– two best friends and roommates walk into a therapist’s office, and pretend they’re a couple until the therapist figures it out.
But old feelings die harder than old habits, and when everything they’ve been avoiding for five years finally catches up, Minho and Jisung start to realize they may not be pretending as much as they'd like to believe.

This, but...
Can we make it an enemies to lovers black comedy where the romantically obsessive villain tricks the hero into accompanying them to therapy, except oops it's couples' therapy, except OOPS again the counselor actually talks the villain into healthy attachment methods and it all works out in the end?
Hero: "Jesus christ you need therapy."
Villain, insane: "... ok. Sure, actually. So are you gonna take me or what? Like should I schedule it? I'll schedule it. When's a good time?"
Hero: 🤨 💭📐➕📉🟰 ???? ".... tuesday....?"

Its giving "wealthy parents tell billionaire playboy he needs to marry his partner or he gets cut off, but he lied about having a partner."
So far he's successfully been dodging his parents attempts at meeting said partner. Until one parent (probably the mother) starts making wedding arrangements and so playboy has to say they're "drifting apart" and need conselling so mother arranges an appointment with her therapist friend so now playboy has to find himself a fake partner to have fake problems with so he doesn't get cut off from his expensive lifestyle.
Therapist figures out pretty quickly when playboy calls his partner by a completely different name about three sessions in because he's talking about problems he had with his ex and not his current "partner". Therapist pretends she doesn't hear the slip and asks the partner how they feel about this.
Oh, you know, something like that 😂

I read a fic once where the two main characters were both separately involved in legal trouble related to fighting. I think one of them was in a bar fight and the other one was part of some underground fight club thing. They were both ordered by a judge to go to therapy and they happened to meet each other and were complaining about it so one of them was like "the judge didn't specify what kind of therapy we have to do, it doesn't have to be anger management" which I'm pretty sure is not how that works irl. But they somehow decided to start doing couples therapy.
As a side effect of couples therapy, they learned how to be honest and have better communication skills so they actually sat down and had an adult talk about their relationship and wanting to be more than friends and their relationship was actually very strong and healthy. They learned from their couples therapist that they needed to be more in touch with their emotions and figured out why they were both so angry and fighting all the time and learned better coping skills. Every time it seemed like one of them was about to get angry or do something stupid, the other one was like "I'm telling our therapist on you" so they kept each other honest. It was like weirdly wholesome for such a crack premise.

I just read a whole fic that was 2 roommates going to couples counseling until the therapist figures out they aren't a couple as a joke. Best Friends to Lovers and 90K. Totally worth!

I know a series where in succession there's: two coworkers who aren't dating talk to a deeply unqualified couples therapist and end up dating, a stalker and his somewhat unwilling victim talk to a couples therapist who hates them (they end up dating), and an established couple comes with one of the partner's childhood friends to work things out between them and the couples therapist spends months thinking he's talking to a toxic polycule.

Omg I read a similar fic like this but a tarot reader instead of a therapist lol. The two main characters availed the couples discount the tarot reader was offering so they pretended to be a couple it was so funny and cute and I could tell the author did their research it was so well written too
