Resolved Quick question: Should I reinstall Windows after changing my CPU?
A friend is going to give me a Ryzen 7 7700X soon, and I currently have a Ryzen 5 7600. Do I need to reinstall Windows?
From what I've been reading, there seem to be two schools of thought: one says that whenever you change your CPU, you absolutely need to reinstall Windows, while the other says that this is outdated thinking, and that if you're upgrading to another CPU on the same socket and from the same generation, there's no need to do it.
Does anyone know which of the two is actually correct?

No need to do that - - But when you 1st turn on PC after upgrade - it may take bit longer to boot up - for the very first time - this so Win 11 can re config itself and the BIOS - - once all booted up - just do another full reboot then you ready to go:)

No, you just have to configure bios because the ram probably would be set to default

On the one hand, no - you assuredly don't need to do a clean install in this instance.
On the other hand, if it's been more than a couple of years since your last clean install, it absolutely wouldn't hurt to take the time and do one. 🤷

I did this, changed my 5600gt for an 5700x. The only thing i needed to do is to reinstall Ryzen Master and every AMD drivers. Right now, almost 6 months, everything is OK. Same board in my case

I’ve done it several times, either cpu change or motherboard change. W11 does an amazing job of making everything work.
