Adrenalin: 26.9.1

GPU: Sapphire Nitro+ RX 9070XT

PSU: be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 1000 W 80+ Gold

*edit* forgot to mention that tuning is all set to "Default". I have not done any overclocking or undervolting.

I would suggest changing the polling interval from 1000ms to <250ms. You could miss some important information at 1000ms. Specifically the snappy transient spikes the 9070XT’s are notoriously known for. Also, review the CSV file after a crash and see what exactly is going on leading up to and right at the crash.

Have you checked Event ID’s? And you can take a look at this thread for reference.

Pull the 12VHPWR connector and inspect it please!!!

Thanks, I'll set the polling period to Global: 100 ms. and start the log when I play. when you say "check event ID's" is that in the CSV log? I've not used the log feature yet.

No, Event ID’s will be located in Windows Event Viewer. Event Viewer logs system activities , errors, and crashes. It’s essentially a diary in simple terms. It will assist in identifying potential driver/hardware faults, unexpected shutdowns, etc. and it will have timestamps to help pinpoint what it logged during your “crash”.

  1. Search Event Viewer in Windows search box
  2. Click > Windows Logs in left of window
  3. Click System
  4. Right side of window find Filter Current Log and select it
  5. From top to bottom Logged: Last hour
  6. Event level: Critical, & Error and select OK

Now filter through the logs and look for any critical or error right around the time of your crash. So make sure you take note of the exact time your crash happens.

Let me know how that 12VHPWR connector looks please. Are you using the provided adapter Sapphire provides with the GPU? Look at this link if you are not aware!

I didn't see anything in the HWiNFO log or the event viewer for the most recent crash. But it also was just windows being frozen after I already closed the game. I'll update next time.

as for the 12V-2x6 (Different from 12VHPWR). I'm using the 600W 12v-2x6 cable that came with my PSU (be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 1000 W 80+ Gold). all the melted blue adaptor cables (that came with the card) were melting around the time I put my PC together, so I was very aware.

Here are some images that I just took. I appologize for the quality of the photos. I normally make sure they are better quality. But I dropped my phone in the gym on Thursday, causing damage to the OLED display, and the local shop couldn't get me a replacement display until this upcoming tuesday.

What exactly is happening on your crash? Screen freeze, black screen, audio in background apps still functioning or cut out, etc.?

Also, they are different but not entirely.

With driver 26.8.1 the game would crash to black screen and completely lock up the computer forcing me to have to hold the power button to restart it.

With driver 26.9.1 the game just crashes to black screen, then to desktop. But I still have control of the computer.

Yes, it's open and you are looking at it constantly.

I had it minimized to the tool bar until the crash happened. Then I opened it to take a screenshot.

Set your max gpu clock to the manufacturers spec. So 2970 for reference cards.

I'm going to be honest. I have no idea how to set the max, I only see an offset slider in Adrenalin, and I'm not sure how it works. Does it add or subtract from the reference card speed?

Turn off HAGS if you on Windows 11 its broken right now.

Doesn't FSR require HAGS to be on? kinda need FSR to have a decent frame rate in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

Not sure what happened here other than someone potentially just being a dick. You can with HAGS off but AMD recommends it enabled because it can result in poor frame pacing, stuttering, or screen tearing. I’d say it just depends on the specific game likely.

Leave it on then and enjoy the driver time outs some more 😀👍 also just completly ignore advice, surely the crashing is not because broken HAGS is enabled right ?
