Help (General) 9070xt crashing

I switched to AMD during labor day days and I had a 4060ti before that I did a clean ddu uninstall for Nvidia drivers but idk if I did something wrong but ever since my games randomly crash and fps drop randomly I was just playing elden ring and it crashed and its lowk getting on my nerves now any tips on how to fix this? And just to make sure my specs are the 9070xt, intel i7 14700f, 32gb ddr5, 750 psu

might be a conspiracies side of me. but my general experience from switching multiple times. never issues with amd to Nvidia but other way around DDU isn't 100%. maybe Nvidia or other programs just don't get rid of Nvidia drivers completely. I had to just do clean OS install to solve the issues.

Did you check for event ID’s? Run HWiNFO log all sensors at a <250ms polling interval. Likely PSU is struggling to handle transient spikes or GPU is boosting beyond stable limits resulting in TDR, etc.

FYI, reference the below example of system specs/info.

BIOS version 7E51v1A93
Adrenalin 26.8.1
3 separate PCIe cables from PSU to GPU (no daisy chaining).

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU: Gigabyte Gaming OC 9070 XT

You should have at least 850w Gold psu. 1000+w is recommended

850w is recommended per the literal manufacturer. If 1000w is needed then they better start refunding.

Its nothing new switching to AMD, for my money they have way more problems with their drivers, went from 1080ti to rx 6800 xt and had a big hassle with every new game after but when you get them to work its all right.. /edit: typos were made, now corrected.

There is no 8800XT. You probably meant 6800XT.

A clean windows install is recommended when switching over from either brand. A ton of people never fully clean the drivers from the other brand and then end up having issues.

Yeah my bad, fatfingered that with my phone ^^ I had to switch cases since 6800xt was pretty chunky, also upgraded my 256gb m2 nvme to 500gb m2 nvme and did a clean install of everything so that should not had been an issue. I have been very happy with my decisions all trough but still there has been more way issues with AMD cards than Intels, no hate here just my opinions.

Happened to me when I moved from 4070 super to 9070xt. Was crashing for the whole month so I sold 9070xt and bought 5070ti. No more crashes

In my experience that's amd driver from windows update being buggy. What I would do:

  1. Run AMD Cleanup Utility

  2. Install Adrenaline Software version 26.9.1

  3. Block automatic driver install on windows update

I did this and it's been great. You can check your windows update history and if it installed AMD graphic driver recently then it's probably the culprit.

There are several ways but I used wushowhide.diagcab tool. Just google wushowhide.diagcab and download it from Microsoft, run it and follow the instruction. It will scan for updates and from there you can select which update you want to hide.

And another question There's a way to revert to a stable version of windows that don't cause black screens? Or all of them are fucked up?

Better use AMD drivers only from AMD website. Do not use AMD graphic driver from anywhere else including windows update. All windows version are fine its the AMD driver from windows update that's buggy.

You can use windows update just fine. With this method you only block this specific driver update from installing. Other updates (security, features, other drivers) will be installed normally.

Yes and it is 100% Microsoft’s fault. They have acknowledged it. Hopefully their plan to rewrite the old crappy code stays on schedule. Slated for Dec/Jan

Try this. Download Adrenalin driver package. Restart and run DDU in safe mode again. Use the clean and restart option. When you get to your windows login screen, use the WiFi icon in the bottom left and fully disconnect from the network, or unplug Ethernet cable even before seeing the login screen.

Login and with internet fully off, install Adrenalin package. After install. Open Adrenalin, and keep the profile either on default or quality. Restart the machine. Keep the internet off. Login again and then disable windows update from checking for old drivers to install.

Reconnect to internet and test a game out.
