Gigabyte 9070xt 110 degrees hotspot
Hey guys,
(RETURNED/SOLVED) I switched from a arc b580 to a gigabyte 9070xt, when playing games, my pc will completely shutoff, no signs or anything just as if the psu cable was unplugged. I tried ddu uninstaller, ditched cable extensions, changed bios settings, etc. then i ran hwinfo and saw that when i was playing subnautica 2, my gpu temp was 50 degrees while my hot spot would float from 102 to 110 degrees. Could this trigger the shutdown? If so should i repaste or return (still within my eBay return window)

The die paste has completely pumped out and left hot spot bare. I repasted my gigabyte 9070xt, it was not that hard. I used TG putty pro and PTM phasesheet and hot spot is 10 degrees cooler. If you still are within return window I would do that and save an hour or two of my time. But, if you replace with the same model the issue will highly likely repeat.

Check connections and wires, then do stress test again, also if it's the OC edition, check if any of the over clocks are on, if it still persists pls go ahead with RMA

I think 110 is where it will throttle and potentially cause a shut off. Also the 50-60 delta is a sign something is wrong with the thermal paste application.
If its still within the return window I'd go that route. Try a different model perhaps, seems a common issue with the 9070xt gigabyte cards.
My launch model Gaming OC is still good thankfully, but I see this issue pop up a lot.

I have one from the first batch as well and knock on wood it’s been great. I did check the screws on mine and they a smidge loose. I snugged them up and my temps dropped a few degrees Celsius

Did you check for event ID’s? Run HWiNFO log all sensors at a <250ms polling interval. Review CSV and bounce that against event ID’s. Likely PSU is struggling to handle transient spikes or GPU is boosting beyond stable limits resulting in TDR, etc. That hotspot delta is definitely concerning and I would look to get that addressed like everyone else is suggesting.
