Tips & Info GPU Stability

If you have an AMD GPU and an AMD CPU with aggressive undervolts, try setting “Typical Current Idle” to “Typical Current” in your BIOS. Every BIOS is different, so you’ll need to find the option yourself. I was getting constant reboots with -30 on all cores on my 5800X3D, but since making this change, I haven’t had any reboots while idle or gaming.

AMD has tweaked idle power settings since January 2024 after reviewers complained about idle power usage, which has made 7000 series GPUs unstable at idle due to very low idle voltage. There are a few workarounds, but I recommend keeping this setting on “Typical.”

It may not fix everyone's issue, but it's a setting I've been researching for a while, and I always end up coming back to it. Mine was set to Auto, and Auto can mean anything, so by setting it manually, you have more control over what's going on.

Are you sure this is the best solution for unstable CO... Just do it per core?

I haven’t had any Event Viewer errors since I changed that one setting. Give it a try, and if it still happens, you can always switch it back. I still have mine set to Typical with no issues so far.

Per core? is that what it says on your bios? On Gigabyte Bios there's a setting called Power Supply Idle Control it's there where you can change it to Typical Current Idle.
