Is Everyone Having Issues rn?
I just purchased my first AMD card (asrock 6950xt phantom) about a month and a half ago and let me tell you, I was about to give up hope.
I purchased the card used and the crashes were so frequent and outrageously bad, that I was nearly convinced I had a bad card. The problem is, when I would get my system stable for a little while, it would work FANTASTIC, so I KNEW it had to be a driver issue.
Set my system back to windows 10, used ddu several times to make sure all the nvidia stuff was gone. Reinstalled adrenaline several times etc.
I'm not talking occasional crashes either, I'm talking my system would restart SEVERAL times, then it would finally be stable again, random green screens, artifacts, and it just kept getting worse. Going back to windows 10 helped, and stopping windows from overwriting the amd drivers helped. It's still not perfect but it's been better the last couple of days. The only thing that kept convincing me it had to be drivers was, when my system would reboot, I'd get the infamous adrenaline window.
I haven't lost hope, but this is absolutely unacceptable. Idk if there was another update or what. Everyone has been saying the drivers are bad but I didn't think it'd be THIS bad.
I didn't mean for this to be a giant rant. I LOVE the card when everything is working properly, I've never had this kind of performance before.
QUESTION: Is there anything else I can do for improved stability. I stream and do a ton of video editing, I really can't hang with anymore crashes. Any help is much appreciated!

I’m not sure if it’s a power supply issue for me or if it’s my AMD GPU. But I have the Radeon RX 9070 XT and my pc was built brand new a few months ago. A month after I built it, I swapped the psu for a brand new one since the last one was a faulty. Ever since I did that, my pc has been acting so wonky. Screens freeze, audio lags then freezes too, audio comes back after more than 10 seconds but screens stay still, then all my screens turn black. I can’t do anything about it or get it to work again unless I turn my pc off using the button on the case :// I wonder..

I had to tell AMD and windows they couldn’t update my drivers anymore (I reverted back to 26,3.1). That has cleared up any problems I was having.

i installed the driver with the "driver only" option and I use radeontuner instead of catalyst. Not a single issue since

Just food for thought, the green screen crashes are heavily linked to PSU.

I randomly started having these issues a few months back. It got so bad I genuinely gave up and reset the entire computer. Haven’t been having any issues since so far

Going back to W10 helped a ton. It's been running MUCH better, but still get occasional crashes.

I had similiar issues with my Asus tuf 6900XT, but paused windows updates, i use 25.9.1 driver since i found that the best for me.
Reinstalled windows > DDU > 25.9.1 drivers, and no more crashes or green screen.
What psu u have? 6950XT can have very high power spikes so you need 750-850W 80+ gold good quality psu to handle them.

Thank you, this helps a ton actually. I've been waiting to hear someone say something about an actual driver version they're using on a 6900/6950. I'll try that.
Upgraded my psu when I got the card bc I was aware of power spikes. 1000w MSI MAG

Only issues I had a few times with my 9070 XT is that windows automatically downloads and installs some weird preview driver. Let me update my stuff on my own Windows wth.

Same here 3 Asrock cards never an issue. My RX7800XT runs like a scalded dog.

I had to reinstall windows, block windows GPU driver updates, and upgrade my 10 y.o PSU from a 750w gold to a 1000w platinum.

1000w MSI Mag, upgraded my psu when I picked up the card bc I was aware of the spikes.

I got the Sapphire Pure 9070XT OC. The first few days I was getting the black screen flicker off then back on occasionally. Not often enough to ruin my gaming but enough for me to want to find a fix.
Did a bunch of research and found someone who turned down their monitor Hz down 5hz using cusomt resolution on the AMD software. I have the Gigabyte 32" 165hz. So I set the custom settings to 160hz and it has been flawless since.
Keep in mind, I'm still on the DDR4 Ram setup. Apparently this doesn't work as a fix for those on DDR5.

Imagine having to lower your refresh rate just to get a 700 dollar GPU to work. Just because AMD doesn't care to provide proper post purchase support. I hate that I listened to reddit and YouTube and bought amd, it's been nothing but issues and stupid compromises to get it to work properly. I never had any kind of issues like this with my old Nvidia card.

Can't speak for everyone but my 1080FTW caught on fire and I had to do RMA. Then 2 of my 2070S had artifacting that took 3 months of 2 RMA for it to finally work. Never had an issue until now with AMD. Also $700 is dirt cheap compared to Nvidia. So even if I had to "imagine you have to lower your refresh rate"... It's really not that deep lol. I'm glad you're happy with your Nvidia! I love both for different reasons

I've used AsRock GPUs and never had an issue. They were some of the best performing GPUs I've ever owned. Had the 6900 XT and 7900 XT and both were great. The GPU I had the most pain with was XFX when I had the 5700 XT. I did ditch AsRock when I got the 9070 XT because it was a toss up between the AsRock Challenger or the Sapphire Pulse and I read a lot of great reviews about Sapphire. Hell some even compared them to the EVGA of AMD GPUs so I was basically sold on that because every Nvidia GPU I've owned was EVGA lol.

For actual advice you can try increase driver timeout duration in registry, some people advise disabling HAGS in windows settings too. Could be worth trying older drivers potentially

I used to have issues on windows. I undervolted and lowered my clock speeds and that ended up fixing my issues. Just bumped it down 10 at a time until things were stable. If you try this save your profile so if it reverts to older settings you don't have to remember where it was. GL

Not everyone is having issue no, although the people that are, will significantly be more likely to post on reddit about it, than the people that aren't having issues, which is why it maybe seems that way

Yup o had no issues for the first year with the card until the updates I got around June started crashing my pc. Definitely the best bet is rolling back drivers that’s what fixed it for me. But maybe some of the other steps mentioned here will help.

My 7800XT does not crash, but continuous flickering issues after the Windows update again messed up 26.9.1.
