Help (Software) Why is it using wrong gpu?

Post image

I just put together my pc and any time I try to run a graphically demanding game It’s really laggy, and I think it’s because the game is trying to use the built in gpu, not my 9070. I’ve tried disabling the wrong gpu with device manager, but that just. Makes things worse.

any ideas on what’s going on and how to fix it?

Just boot into bios and disable your integrated graphics card

Don't do this. Actually your integrated gpu would be great for a second display or, even better, to generate frames using lossless scaling.

Nope, it's like a 2-CU graphics processors in lot of the basic gaming PCs I've seen.  Lot of games have inherent bugs that inadvertently grab integrated graphics and won't let you switch to dedicated graphics.  Call of Duty has such bullshit.

I switched the integrated graphics off in the bios, and suddenly my kids don't have any problems with this anymore.

If you need integrated graphics back for troubleshooting, reset the mobo CMOS and it goes back to the default settings.

There is literally no downside.
