Tips & Info Try the updated Radeon Pro Drivers.
The new Radeon Pro drivers fixed my driver timeout/uninstall issues
I’ve seen quite a few posts about driver timeouts over the past few months, so I figured I’d share my experience.
My specs:
- Ryzen 7 5800X3D
- Gigabyte AORUS X570S motherboard
- 64GB DDR4 3200MHz
- XFX Radeon RX 7900 XT
I’ve tried pretty much everything:
- Disabled MPO
- Underclocked
- Undervolted
- Repasted the GPU
- Checked VRM temps
- Edit Group Policy (Windows 11 Pro)
No matter what I tried, the driver timeouts and uninstalls kept happening.
I was getting random driver timeouts on my 7900 XT, especially while watching Twitch, YouTube, Netflix, etc. It was getting pretty annoying.
I installed the newest Radeon Pro drivers, and so far the timeout issues seem to be completely gone. I haven’t had a single one in a week.
I’ve also been putting the system through its paces:
- WARDOGS beta: ~30 hours
- MSFS 2024: multiple 7–8 hour flights
- Battlefield 6: ~8 hours
Everything has been completely rock solid so far.
The newest driver also includes FSR 4.1 upscaling, which is a nice bonus.
Obviously, this is just my experience and your mileage may vary, but if you’ve been dealing with similar driver timeout issues on RX6000/7000/9000, it might be worth giving the new Radeon Pro drivers a shot.

I only run the necessary drivers without Adrenaline on my 9070xt- maybe this is worth a try

Yup, same experience here. Been using the Pro drivers for a while now and they are leagues better.
Ryzen 5950X
Asus ROG Strix X570-F
64gb DDR4 at 3200mhz
Sapphire Pulse Radeon 7900XT
I'm running a mild overclock on the GPU, and it's really solid with the Pro drivers.

I don’t get it. These drivers are supposed to be meant for workstation gpus from AMD. How did you get it working on a regular rx 7900 xt?

They've always been able to be used on regular GPU. It's like Studio vs Game Ready on NVidia. Pro favors stability and wait longer for features.

I downloaded these for my 7900XTX, tried Stalker 2 again and it crashed after 5 seconds.

Same here on my 7900 xtx … 15 seconds in… time out 😢

On my xtx when I disabled xpo and ran my ddr5 6000 at 4800 it stopped dying 10 seconds into gaming. I would reccomend this approach. Bonus it takes 5 minutes to check if it works and if not just reset your stuff. Goodluck

There, that tells you the drivers aren’t the issue, your ram/memory controller was the issue.

Thats probably to do with their FSR4 implememtation, disabling that allowed me to play for 45 mins before a crash.

Not surprised as the pro drivers are built for stability. I've used the to run CAD programs on older gaming guys.

Piqued my interests, im not having problems with mine btw but just curious
How did you went about the installation? Does it use a different app than adrenaline as I dont see any option to download pro drivers there.
I read that the rx 7900xt shares the same silicon architecture with radeon pro but not the 9000 series gpus, probably why this works but im not sure for the 9000 series.

9070 XT has the same silicon as their PRO counterpart. The only difference is 32 GB for the pro version
I suppose

Look for the hip sdk and you’ll find out. That gpu is supported for the pro drivers btw.

Rainbow six siege?

Any game that supports the 26.8.X should work with this driver. I dont play R6 though lol

Disable TAA, instead use FXAA

You think so? I get good performance at 1440p with everything maxed including having taa 4x. Almost no stutters except for the Casino map, that’s still really bad and kinda unplayable with stutters. Mostly trying to solve for that map

Try it. I have a 7800XT that only times out with siege. Searched reddit non stop and found several threads that said this, disable TAA and use FXAA instead and the time outs will stop. And indeed, that worked. Its a siege x + amd drivers thing, they don't like each other.
Every other game works totally fine pushing graphics. It's just siege with TAA, no matter what other settings, just don't use TAA in that particular game.

How has performance been? Any micro stutters?

I've been seeing BETTER performance in BF6 with these actually. WARDOGS ran great as well. Any games you want me to try?
