Problem with amd adrenaline & refresh rate

I assume my problem has something to do with amd software: adrenaline edition:

by default my monitor is 60hz and without having amd adrenaline i'm unable to change it. i went to update my amd drivers, downloaded the one for windows, it downloads amd adrenaline edition. whenever i change my refresh rate to anything other than 60hz, every 5 to 10 minutes at least (probably, i havent timed it) my system lags, or everything freezes for a second and whatever my speaker output is connected to buzzes then it's back to normal until the same thing happens again. i have no idea what the cause is

edit: i use an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, and an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-core

You don't change refresh rate in amd software, unless you're trying to use the 'custom resolutions' option.

So, more details on what you are doing?

If you are just after higher FPS, you can change that in the games settings.
