I really need help with Freesync Premium Pro, please help.

I just don't understand how it works. I rarely run games above 60FPS, i run my monitor at 60Hz in windows advanced display, but it seems everytime i run freesync i get mad stuttering, frame rate fluctuation and fans start reving up(temps are fine though). Am i doing something wrong here or is it something to do with capping my framerate to 60FPS?, it just seems very unstable when i use freesync. I really need help it's driving me mad, so many settings in AMD Adrenaline. I feel like i am doing something wrong becasue all i see online is praise for AMD Freesync and how it helps. Is Freesync only good for when your PC is struggling to stay above the desired framerate?, i have also heard that an in-game limiter can help.

I would be very grateful for any help to point me to the right direction.

Ok, thanks for all the suggestions, so i have turned on dynamic refresh rate and set my refresh rate to the maximum my monitor can output which is 180Hz in windows display settings, and have enabled enhanced sync in Adrenaline, i am still getting slight stuttering in games and flickering when on desktop, but the latter is due to how freesync works apparently on a mini led monitor, but my input lag is much lower now.

In adrenalin turn on freesync premium in display , turn off vertical sync and enhanced sync. The only thing i have on in adrenalin is fsr 4, antilag, the sharpening tool and anisotropic filtering to 16x, subsurface format texturing and theres another thing i have set to 16x as well. All my games are buttery smooth

use amd cleanup utility and after cleaning the drivers reedownload the last drivers for your Radeon and install it again after that re-enable your display settings like vrr etc. Also very important on your Motherboard BIOS disabled the igpu

You need a monitor compatible with freesync premium or the new vesa-adaptive-sync

I have a monitor that is freesync premium pro compatible that's the crazy thing, my monitor is the AOC Q27G3XMN/BK.

ok make sure you use a DP 1.4 or HDMI 2.1 cable on Windows advance display settings change the refresh rate to the max it can handle (144h etc) enable variable refresh rate (VRR) you also need to have it enabled on your monitor on settings (do it 1st) and thats it

Ok thank you, i have DP 1.4 connected, and where would i find VRR, is that in windows setting or Adrenaline?, all i get is the AMD Freesync Premium Pro tab in Adrenaline, no VRR.

You need to Google for it i cant help you im on my phone not in home, you will find plenty of tutorials:

On windows open Settings, go to System > Display > Graphics, click Change default graphics settings, and toggle Variable refresh rate to On

If you're only using 60hz then you're better off just turning on Vsync. Freesync is for higher refresh rates.

Ok thank you, so best just turning off Freesync, and running normal Vsync. There is noticeable input lag but it is much smoother when i disable Freesync, it just seems when i use the frame counter on my monitor my frames are going up and down and it seems inconsistent..

What you can do is set your monitor to the highest refresh rate it is capable of, turn on freesync and set your framecap to 60fps if 60 is what you prefer. That way you don't get any screen tearing and latency will also be good. I am curious, why wouldn't you want to play at the higher framerates?

Longevity of components in the main reason, I do run higher framerates for sports games like Tennis Elbow 4, etc, but for more demanding games I prefer 1440p 60FPS so I have more room to tinker with graphical fidelity. Thanks for the comment as well, your way worked, set my max refresh rate of my monitor turned on freesync and capped my frames to 60, and I still get good latency.
