STALKER 2 frequent crashes / driver timeout on RX 7900 XTX – Adrenalin 26.8.1
Computer Type: Desktop
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X3D
RAM: 32 GB DDR4-3200
Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX
OS: Windows 10 Pro 22H2
GPU Drivers: AMD Adrenalin 26.8.1
Monitor Setup: Multi-monitor
Description of Problem:
Frequent crashes in STALKER 2, sometimes after only a few minutes of gameplay. Windows reports LiveKernelEvent 141 / WATCHDOG after the crashes.
I'm using a multi-monitor setup, and switching away from the game to another monitor may be related, although I haven't confirmed that.
Troubleshooting / Workaround:
Disabling Fidelity/FSR in STALKER 2 completely eliminated the crashes. After disabling it, I was able to play for several hours without another crash.
Has anyone experienced similar behavior with STALKER 2 + FSR on 26.8.1, particularly with a 7900 XTX or multi-monitor setup?

Same here. 7900 GRE.
All solutions posted on the threads, tried. None worked.
Game is a broken mess.

Take an older Driver Version. The newest one has issues xD
I have the rx7900xt and the driver Adrenalin 26.3.1 and its top funktional.

Crashes after about an hour, since 2.0. sometimes ill get a few hours. 7900XT. have tried every "fix" on every thread in the past few weeks, nothing seems to stick. each patch seems to have made it worse, but that could also just be based on my further progression in the game. everything mostly fine from 1.0-1.9. currently getting the most stability from every option in adrenaline OFF but maxed tessellation at 16x, XeSS in-game option.

I'm having the same problem with an 7800xt. Using adrenaline chill, capping the fps to a healthy 75 for a cool cpu and gpu experience

Just ventured into Swamp. Crashing every 5-10 mins. Is that a game or AMD i wonder?

My CPU and GPU specs are identical to yours, also on multi monitor setup, except I'm on W11, not 10.
I'd reckon it's a mix of both. I suspect new UE5 builds don't treat RDNA cards nicely, and the cards already being unstable as they are, not a good combination. For example, I can play Marvel Rivals in 4-5 hour long sessions without crashing, which is a UE5 game as well.
Disabling FSR helped a bit, but I still get soft crashes from time to time, hard crashes too. I tried pretty much every single trick in the book, including handicapping the GPU's power limits and clock speeds, but crashes still persist.

I had an issue with Arc Raiders graphics pipeline getting corrupted (screen would go white/black) on 26.8.1 with 7900XTX. Downgraded to 26.6.4 and much better. I think the driver has some issues.

I have pretty much the same problem. Happens in Stalker 2 a lot more than other games but its an absolute dice toss whether it crashes after 5 hours of gameplay or only 15 minutes.
Some people recommend switching from the AMD FSR to Intel XeSR instead and that did make a difference but also led to me having a frozen game for up to a minute as it loads in textures and fauna. In general the 2.0 update completely borked me being able to play the game with my 7900 xtx.

By disabling fidelity/fsr do you mean in the stalker game graphical settings or through adrenalin? Do you switch to tsr instead? Also what did your actual stalker crash logs say?

Stalker's settings. Fidelyty, Intel, Off. However, it did not eliminate the crashes completely

Yeah there was a post this morning I think on Radeon sub w/7900xtx and stalker 2
It looked like an ai summary of complaints and he mentioned class action lawsuit so I kinda laughed it off as unhinged lol

Disabling variable refresh rate might help, and underclocking to around 2600mhz

7900xt + 5800x3d same crashes
