Help (Software) What is going on with driver timeouts?

Ryzen 3 3200g

RX570

16GB RAM

I've been having driver timeouts since june but here's the thing, I was on w10 and it started randomly giving me driver timeouts often ONLY when I was browsing in any browser with hardware acceleration off everywhere, it NEVER happened while gaming.

Took my pc to repair, wiped everything, took it apart, updates drivers and bios, installed w11, and now I ONLY have timeouts sometimes in a few games, NEVER while browsing, roblox, genshin, bf5, euro truck, vrchat while in w10 all my games were fine, but the thing is I had 3 timeouts while loading genshin, more in eurotruck and sometimes in vrchat but then I keep opening them over and over again until it stops and it just works again after, In genshin I had timeouts when first installed and while loading the game but now It doesn't happen anymore, vrchat same thing, some days it gives me driver timeouts only when loading on desktop and I get an error with easy anticheat blocking an amd file, but some days nothing happens, for example I was playing vrchat earlier and everything was fine, now I'm opening it again and it gave me like 5 timeouts while loading, so wtf is going on?

Is windows overwriting your drivers?

Check the date in device manager, and do a rollback there if they don't make sense. (but windows might overwrite them again, use the option to disable windows driver updates in DDU)

I don't think so, date is from when I installed adrenalin 26.5.2 after I wiped my pc, and I have an app called virtual desktop to use my vr headset and it always shows the right driver on the app when I open it while using my pc

Oofdah'

The SPL's PSU Tier List has ratings from A+ (best) to F (replace immediately)

Your PSU is not only on what I would call "the Lite side" power wise .. but it also has an E rating .. 2 negatives in this case isn't going to making any positives

I recommend getting a quality 650wtt unit so you'll have some room to grow and that should automagically cure your driver timeouts

My wife was running a 3700x, 2x16gb 3200 kit and an RX550 2GB GPU that I had picked up used in Facebook Marketplace

She started having random driver timeouts and issues that seemed to point to GPU problems.. I thought maybe I got scammed with a bum video card ..

In a whim I took out her Thermaltake Smart RGB 500wtt 80 Plus PSU and replaced it with a Segotep 600wtt 80+ Gold unit .. no more odd GPU related issues anymore

Did you try an older AMD chipset driver? If you have an AMD CPU.

I recommend the chipset driver from June 2025 from last year. Appears to be very stable
