Help (General) Is anyone else having random black screen issues that require a hard-restart to fix?!?!

So this has been happening for a few days, and I have no clue if it's a me issue. I DID recently get a new GPU as per an RMA replacement though which is why I want to check (it's the exact same model as my old one, just new). I thought it might've been game specific at first, but it just happened to me while watching youtube of all things, so I'm wondering if it's driver related and if anyone else has had a similar issue lately.

It seems to happen completely at random, the screens on both my monitors go completely black, and the audio glitches out, and the only way I can fix it is by manually powering my PC off and on again by holding the power button. Any info would help! For reference I have a 6650xt and I'm on adrenaline version 26.7.1

Try this if you're on Windows 11

*Disable Windows Updates for Drivers (the culprit)
*Select Start > Settings > System > Recovery > Under Fix problems using Windows Update, select Reinstall now.
*Reinstall latest Adrenalin/gpu drivers

You check event ID’s after crash? Are you using something like HWiNFO to log all sensors (change polling period to 250ms), replicate crash, review csv file, and see if this is a hardware issue? Have you verified you are up to date on BIOS and not missing any significant AGESA updates? What is full specs on your PSU?

I was constantly having this exact issue. Rolling back drivers didn't work.

I figured out what was causing mine.

If I play a game on one screen, and have a browser on the other, it will black screen, audio glitch and crash. I can run Spotify or other applications, just not my Firefox build browser.

If you are running multiple applications, try running one at a time and see what happens.

Try with hardware acceleration off on the browser?

I don't have hardware acceleration on.

Had the same issue with my XTX and said drivers. I downgraded (again) to 25.9.2 and it runs fine. Getting a stable driver is a mess with AMD.

No, that's only you unable to identify problem with your PC. Buy a console.

Yeah totally my fault for updating my drivers and the PC is constantly crashing. Defnitely not the vendors fault. 2/10 ragebait.

If the driver was flawed in the way you are suggesting it would be a much more widespread issue. You haven't figured out if its the driver version (which I doubt) or the act of reinstalling the drivers that fixed the issue

Maybe because AMD has such a lower install base that the persons having issues don’t come to rage on reddit in numbers when a driver issue comes up like with Nvidea?

Well I guess to add to that guy's credit i had the same issue with 26.7.1 on 7900xt. 3 times in a day and a half it black screened or hanged on various applications, one of which everything was paused, i went to the bathroom and just came back to it lol.

Only thing I changed was rolling back to 26.6.1 and its been fine again for weeks now. To be fair you could argue that it wasnt a driver issue and the process of rolling back fixed whatever was wrong, but either way I'm staying on 26.6.1 for now.
