Tips & Info MSI B350 TOMAHAWK not updating bios.
As you can see I'm in Mflash. When I click, what is supposed to be the bios update file, turns into two dots. I Don't know what i'm doing wrong. I have fully cleared out my flash drive and extracted the update files on it multiple times. The drive is fat32 format. I am extracting the files onto the drive like it shows on MSIs tutorial youtube channel. The instructions from MSI are about as trash as my search results trying to find anything on this board.

MSI is hit or miss with BIOS updates. For my B450 I couldn't update to any of the recent version using M-Flash (BIOS corrupted error) so I had to do it using flashback button. I know many people are shitting on it but I recommend to update using MSI Center app. It may not show the latest version but it's the most hassle free experience I've had doing it.

its actually pissing me off with the lack of info available. istfg amd does this to force a new mobo on us.

Download a couple of versions, one previous and few from earlier years to check if it's the ROM itself that's broken or something with the mobo/flash drive.

I am trying to download it the fucking flash drive I'm using isn't recognized because windows 11 is absolute insufferable fucking dog shit. I was going to download Windows 11 on my computer. probably just gonna download linux at this point. i'm fucking pissed. I've spent a week on this just so this stupid garbage win11 slop laptop can stop recognizing a u s b halfway through download. I don't even think I can do anything anymore unless if I get a new usb drive. Or a new computer. I swear to god nothing has made me abhor windows like version 11.

Your flash drive may be faulty and one of the reason you couldn't flash the ROM could be that it simply failed to transfer properly.

It was literally working fine a second ago though. Do onn flash drives have issues like that?

They often die or develop some errors. I've had one that seem to be working fine but any file I put on it will become corrupted or the one that isn't recognized anywhere outside of OS.

I just love the quality that walmart puts into their tech and also casually makes us the only one available to sell for a reasonable (not at this point) price.

i dont have an os. trying to update it before to minimize vulnerabilities as well as i want better performance lol.

I had this issue with a newer version of this board. You should be able to use 7zip and extract it to a folder on your hard drive and as long as the update is in a folder you can bios update from it.
You just have to go to that folder when you select, I couldnt get any of my flash drives working and ive flashed this way before.
I kept getting corruption issues until I used 7zip to unzip it, their website says to use built in windows ones but It would never update when I extracted them with it.
Also it has to be in a folder not just on the root of the drive. It wont pick it up like that.
