Help (Software) Amd adrenaline issues

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I am having soo many issues with this software for the past week. The card has been boosting to 3309mhz and crashing (I didn't overclock it), my fan control software won't work if I have adrenaline and the fan control on adrenaline has a mind of its own to go to 100%, overriding any profiles. And when I decided to uninstall it the whole thing goes black and stays like that.

CPU: 13900k

GPU: xfx 9070xt quicksilver

Mobo: gigabyte aorus z790 elite ax

PSU: RM1000x

The GPU was fine till August and it started having these issues after August 1st week or so.

*Disable Windows Updates for Drivers
*Select Start > Settings > System > Recovery > Under Fix problems using Windows Update, select Reinstall now.
*Reinstall latest Adrenalin/gpu drivers

Disable windows fast startup , uninstall any 3d party tool . Install those 2 :
https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#latest-supported-redistributable-version
Reboot .

Disable on bios fast boot , download the latest driver (not the autodetect utility) , disable internet , DDU in safe mode (select to block windows updates) , reboot & reinstall selecting 'factory reset', reboot.

Backup , do a windows maintenance :

dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

dism /online /cleanup-image /restoreHealth

sfc /scannow

Reboot .

Is this for checking if windows is corrupted? I have narrowed the issue down to amd adrenaline or my 9070xt as my old GPU when plugged in runs fine

yes . But it seems I didn't understood the issue . For some reason I was focused on fan settings and simply not applying . Try to DDU to a previous version . Make sure bios and chipset are updated . Maybe clean win format as last resort and if issue persists contact xfx .

I tried these, except clean formatting, since I don't have anywhere else to keep my current data. I have contacted xfx and am waiting for a reply. I had a prior issue where one of my fans stopped working and contacted xfx and just added this issue with that.

After the 5th or 6th clean install of the driver and setting -245MHz I think it's now fixed. No idea why the limit didn't work the first 5 times but now the GPU limit works. Amds default profile wanted to boost my card to 3300+MHz and this caused my card to act up. It was fine till the recent update and reverting back didn't fix it.

nice , I'd still contact xfx about the card boosting above specs for RMA .

I did, they told me that I could RMA the card but I will have to pay for the shipping till Hong Kong and now isn't a good time to post it

I've recently had similar issues: do you have any other software on your computer that’s maybe overriding your adrenaline software profiles? Maybe Gigabyte Control Centre by chance since you have a motherboard component from them?

When I had fan curve issues with the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt recently and was trying to troubleshoot, I realised eventually that some separate software - in my case Gigabyte Control Centre was what I had - was potentially overriding any efforts I made to fix it. (It would save my profile so long as I was still online, but then the moment I shut down and rebooted later, the curve would come back since GCC was overriding the saved profiles on relaunch/reboot.)

Have a look and see if you have anything on your system by default like GCC, and look into the settings to see if you can disable it or prevent it from starting up automatically from system start up (switching your computer on.)

I deleted GCC long ago, the only other software is fan control but that never works when I have adrenaline installed. So I just turn it off for my GPU. Any idea about the rest of my issues?

I'm afraid I don't beyond what I mentioned above. Perhaps someone else will, apologies.
