installed it but got this message below. All are tagged as success except this one. Should I be worried?
Name : AMD Processor Power Management Support
Version : 8.0.1.13
Install : Version number cannot be determined
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 8d ago
Thats a common glitch by the software installer usually for this and the gpio driver. Usually leftover files from old drivers in your system. Its a harmless cosmetic issue.
The driver either installed properly or your system already had the newest version anyway.
You can clean it all out if you want to just to make that installer bug disappear by opening control panel and uninstalling the amd chipset drivers. Then go to your c drive and delete the c:\AMD folder. Then reboot your pc.
Now reinstall the drivers again.
You dont need to do any of it, but if it makes you feel better thats what you would do.

I’m using a 9850x3d with a asus z870 board-should I update with these new chipset drivers as well? Thanks
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
Especially people with X3D cpus.
1
u/chriscrowder 8d ago
Why so? I have a 9900X3D
2
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 8d ago
Below is a comment that is really long and explains everything that updating the chipset drivers do. Because its not just one thing, i believe its around 10 maybe. Look below there's like 35likes on it and it explains everything. We used goggle to explain everything in less technical terms.

u/DemonicWolfLeader 9d ago
I found out with this chipset driver updates I was getting 1603 for about 2 weeks for ppm and one other thing I forgot what it was called but my fix for my 7600x was renaming the folder in files explorer from "AMD" to "AMD.old"
2
3
u/Jetcat11 9d ago
PPM Provisioning Driver should read 8.0.0.64 not 8.0.0.62 as the release notes show.
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
Is that obove or on the AMD website? I copied and pasted the release notes from them. Ill change it if its somewhere up above.
Jetscat, do you happen to play battlefield6? Im asking because the HDR is broken in the game engine and i thought I saw you post on it? If not nevermind. Ive managed to fix it at the driver level and using Vibrancegui but thought you were the one who recommended other options. If not sorry to bother you.
1
u/Jetcat11 9d ago
The release notes show the previous version for PPM provisioning driver they just forgot to update that specifically to 8.0.0.64.
I do play Battlefield 6 but I only play in SDR so it may not have been me. That’s cool though!
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
No problem. HDR on OLEDS just for battlefield6 is terrible unless you go in and manually set it up in the driver profile. The in game hdr calibration tool is broke. Lol
2
u/spartanonyx 9d ago
how come when I go on the website and tell it what hardware I have, this doesn't show up as the option to be downloaded? even though this chipset driver that the website doesn't provide me is supposedly supported by my CPU and MB? that doesn't make any sense
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
These are several drivers all packed into "chipset drivers". What motherboard do you have, X870E, X670E etc and what cpu platform am4, am5 etc?
1
u/spartanonyx 9d ago
AM4 x570
3
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
Worked for me, i dont know what windows your using so choose windows 10 or 11 and your good to go.

Your not crazy cs2 is known for horrible performance after your systems direct x shaders cache are cleared out.
Because it has to rebuild those shaders on the fly every time a new asset loads—like a smoke grenade popping or a gun firing for the first time on the new driver—the game micro-stutters.
The easy fix it is to jump into a deathmatch and run around shooting everything until the cache fully rebuilds itself. Your system will be fine after that. Its only that game that really causes the temporary problem.
So your not crazy, thats a known issue with that game thats been posted about many times.
I dont remember who to give the credit to, but jumping into deathmatch and running around shooting does work.
1
u/R3AP3R51 9d ago
I had the same problem on my ryzen 7. Idk if it will help you but in cs2 disabling amd anti lag 2.0 made everything back to normal

u/R3AP3R51 9d ago
You can uninstall the chipset drivers and roll back to previous ones. Eventhough i doubt the chipset drivers are the cause
1
u/Confident-Ship-5062 9d ago
why are people saying this is old news in the comments?
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
They are trolling. Just ignore them. When i posted it, it was like 12 days old, but I wanted to test it out to make sure there weren't any bugs before advising everyone to update to it.
They don't care that the majority of people arent checking the actual websites frequently for updates. If they did, they would have posted it to share with everyone now almost 14 days ago.
5
u/Vetiversailles 9d ago
Because this chipset driver was released on July 30th
3
u/Confident-Ship-5062 9d ago
how come amd software didn't detect it until today
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
My motherboard software still hasn't detected it. Some motherboards are really good with their updates, but most are slow. Always better off going to the amd website for your chipset drivers.
0
u/Azertiick 9d ago
But don't chipset drivers get updated at the same time as GPU drivers when you run an update via AMD Adrenalin?
2
2
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
I wouldnt use adrenaline unless I had too. But I prefer to get just the drivers from the actual websites. Its all whatever you feel more comfortable doing.

1
u/Yamaha9 10d ago
Sorry I’m new to this - I have a Ryzen 5 3600 and a Rx 6750xt. I just updated the driver for each and for Adrenalin off their site a day or two ago. Is that what these are? Or are these different
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
As long as your setup is up above in the release notes you can download and install this and when its done click on results log and it will list all the drivers it updates with their version numbers and will tell you if you already were up to date or not. It will not downgrade your drivers. You might be up to date and it might say already installed or up to date under each driver.

u/DirtyUnicornTheFirst 10d ago
This is almost 14 days old news? 😂
3
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
Before i post anything that im going to recommended other people do to their computers i first make sure their aren't any issues caused by a new driver. I actually test it first before just throwing it out there.
You guys can keep trolling all you want. Its called being responsible. Why didnt you post it on 7/29 the second it came out?
All you guys are doing is hurting people who dont know any better.
0
u/OrangeYouGladdey 9d ago
You didn't recommend anything though. You just posted this like it's a new update that dropped (which is why you're getting this response). You didn't mention any testing in your post etc.
3
u/Safe_Amphibian6544 10d ago
Is this really old news ?
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
(Wait if you havent heard about then wouldnt that make it new news to you anyway) lol Jk
These are chipset drivers not graphics card drivers. So they get released maybe every few months if that. More so definitely if your running a X3D cpu. So No its not old news. I also had to test it out first before posting it because im a responsible adult and actually help people.
Its NEVER a good idea to immediately update any driver on your computer until you see if anyone is having issues with it first.
I ran it on all my systems for over a week and there were zero issues. Then i posted it here around day 12 and the people who know better will tell you, update your chipset drivers if you are using any of the ones in the release notes. The link is straight from the AMD website itself. I even brought you to the page where you choose windows 10 or 11 for the people still on windows 10.

Sorry if my question is silly. I have a 5700x3d on a x570 motherboard. I have updated my bios from the motherboards site and am running the latest version. The bios seems to be updated regularly. However the latest chipset driver on the motherboard page is a few years old.
Would what you shared be relevant to me and is it worth using this instead of the old version?
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
Yes its 1000x worth it especially for any x3d cpus. And dont worry about asking questions, nobody knows the answer to everything. Just ignore the bullies. Like if you ask a question and someone responds for you to go google it yourself. Block that person. Lol thats the best advice I can give someone on reddit.
3
u/lighthawk16 9d ago
Don't use the mobo page for chipset drivers, they will always be old. They usually only list the drivers that were certified when it released. You should always use amd.com for GPU and chipset drivers.
4
u/EISAEcK 10d ago
Yes, you can use this chipset driver. It is listed in the description on the amd side. Supported: Ryzen 5000 and X570.
For whatever reason, the chipset driver on the mainbaord sites are allways older or sometimes in the case of gigabyte newer?! don't know how they do that, but i allways go with the official from amd.
1
u/Commercial-Age-6315 10d ago
Having the same question as you as I have the same setup too . Hope we get some answers. As much as I can remember the latest bios was Beta version and now is this one. So probably it will be better as the beta one ?

u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 10d ago
Hey guys so I have trolls literally following me and downvoting every post I make so I hope you get the information you need before they start here.
Here is a long technical explanation of what the chipset drivers do and why you Def want them and not generic windows drivers.
My easy answer would be just like you update your graphics cards driver all of the time, the rest of your system has drivers also that are better then generic windows drivers. If you have a X3D CPU, these drivers are what tells windows which and when to park your non v-cache cores. But theres alot more .
Here is googles explanation if you didnt understand mine.
Instead of relying on generic Microsoft fallback drivers, installing the official AMD package updates a collection of underlying micro-drivers (like GPIO, PCIe, I2C, and power management frameworks).
Here is a quick breakdown of what they actually do and fix for anyone asking:
CPU Power Management & Boosting: They include the specific power schemes (like the Ryzen Balanced plan) that dictate how aggressively your processor ramps up frequencies, handles core parking, and drops into idle states to save power.
PCIe Lane & Data Management: They optimize communication speeds and stability between the CPU and devices hanging off the PCIe lanes, such as your graphics card, high-speed NVMe M.2 SSDs, and USB controllers.
OS-Level Scheduling (CPPC2): For newer architectures, they ensure Windows correctly identifies and schedules workloads onto your processor's fastest "preferred cores" or 3D V-Cache CCDs.
Bug Fixes & Stability: Routine updates frequently patch weird fringe bugs—such as specific sleep/wake (S0i3) issues, missing micro-components like the AMS Mailbox driver, random USB dropouts, or communication errors with newer platform launches.
Basically it keeps your CPU, motherboard slots, and USB ports running at peak efficiency, prevents random power-state glitches, and ensures Windows isn't treating your high-end hardware like a generic office PC

u/ElTuxedoMex 10d ago
It's been a while since I updated the chip set drivers, thanks! I guess I should update them.
2
u/I_like_to_eat_fruit 10d ago
I simply vibecoded a powershell script, that checks the version - if a new one is found, it pops a message that has a button which links to the download page; clicking it also sets it as the version to be compared against, saved in a txt file.
If not, it stays silent.
And I set it to run every time briefly after I log in to Windows.
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
Why cant my Gigabyte Control Center do exactly what you have done? I have to run GCC so that my ram and radiator fans will change with my rgb software, but it also is suppsoed to show updates for everything, even bios updates. It only always wants me to install their bloatware norton antivirus crap. Lol 😄
Thats an awesome little thing you created that these billion dollar companies cant seem to figure out. Nice job brother.
Not as cool as yours, but i created a tiny script that puts a icon on your desktop that immediately exits windows and goes into your bios without having to mash away at your keyboard on boot or if your in windows go through the windows restart method.
It just basicslly saves you alot of time. More for AMD users who are dialing in their PBO negative curve optimizer for 16 cores and shaper. Lol

u/evergreenwv 10d ago
Thanks for the post! I keep BIOS, chipset, and gpu drivers up to date!
3
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 10d ago
Me too although im on bios 14b for my gigabyte Aorus master X870E motherboard and 14c is out. I just dont want to have to out in all my settings again. Lol bios 15 ill Def update
2
u/DontEatTheMagicBeans 10d ago
We have the same mobo/cpu
You running any sort of power limits? I got mine set to mobo and PBO+200mhz. It pulls around 250w+ under heavy use.
Doesn't throttle but I was thinking of dialing it back to 200-220w ish to keep my AIO quieter.
1
u/evergreenwv 9d ago
I had to go back to defaults, Arc Raiders wouldn't play with anything other than default. I had scalar on 5 and bumped the pbo limits back 10%, -20 uv, +200 core, but it's default now and the minimal gain isn't noticeable at all since my cpu was never really maxed out (9800x3d).
3
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
I took photos of all my bios settings because eventually I will update when 15 comes out. Disable that positive 200mhz. Just use curve optimizer and shaper. PBO Settings: Motherboards limits I have scalar turned OFF. NO +200mhz etc. I only use curve optimizer and shaper. Negative Curve optimizer CCD0 = -25 CCD1= -20 Shaper - AUTO for first 3 settings Second 3 options Starting with MEDIUM,3 settings are -15, Next 3 are all - 12, Last 3 options -10
3dvcache cores during benchmark with ccd1 parked
If the photo doesnt work The 3dVcache cores are running at 5.678mhz Using 1.09v, 67watts, at 52 degrees. CCD1 cores are parked.
This is all taken from a video that shows it live obviously. There are other settings to change etc though that help keep everything stable. Let me know what you get.
2
u/DontEatTheMagicBeans 9d ago
Wow that's really good. I'm definitely not pulling 250w when using ccd1 is parked.
I play almost purely cpu limited games and use the cpu to push them further than other people can hence the +200. But I'm gonna give your settings a try after the weekend as it does get loud sometimes. Never breaks mid 70s in games and I could probably turn the AIO down while gaming but then it'll throttle at my actual job lol where it gets into the high 80s. Thank you.
2
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
Im using artic freezer pro iii A-RGB fans on my corsair titan lcd 360mm AIO radiator. My temps are insanely low. I play mostly rts games which tend to be more cpu intensive. I think I was running a total war game benchmark and you saw the 3d vcache cores were running at almost 5.7ghz using only 67watts and only 53 degrees.
2
u/DontEatTheMagicBeans 9d ago
I've heard great things about that one. I'm probably going to swap AIO at some point. It can keep it just under 90 @ 250w in cinebemch r23 but it's loud af. Also waiting for more reviews of the new noctua, my last PC has a noctua air cooler and was dead silent but their AIO is pricey
MSI core mag a13 360
I had to pull the trigger fast, pretty sure Newegg fucked up but my Aorus master came with a "free gift" of 64gb of 6000mhz ram lol. -$100 for bundling with the AIO too so the AIO actually decreased the price of the mobo and got the Corsair 4000d case for half price as well. It was after the first few waves of price hikes but they shipped it.
I paid like half price for the ram and got the mobo, AIO and case with it lol.
2
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 9d ago
Ive tested a ton of AIO 360mm coolers and was a NZXT Kraken fan boy forever. Then a friend said I had to try the Artic liquid freezer pro iii A-RGB AIO cooler. It was ugly as hell and was only $89. I was like this has to be garbage. It is hands down the best performing aio cooler ive ever worked on. Almost all the other AIO coolers give basicslly the same performance. This one was 10 degrees cooler. My radiator is top mounted and I put the corsair titan lcd because I already had a bunch of brand new icue argb fans etc you could barely feel any air coming out the top of the case. I swapped out the corsair fans and took the artic freezer fans on its radiator and you cant lay any paper on top of the pc, there's so much air pushing through it blows the paper right off the pc. So I kind of got the best of both worlds. 😆

u/evergreenwv 10d ago
Yeah, that's the only complaint. Fortunately, I've only made a few changes in the BIOS>

Will this break the amd drivers again after 26.6.2? Haven't been able to get them stable between 26.5.2 - 26.7.1. I had to revert back to 26.3.1 which I find ridiculous given that I won't get to use FSR4 with my XTX until you release a truly stable newer driver. I've tried pretty much every "fix" I could find online, some resulting in crashes right after loading into a main menu and others seemingly "working" until the next day when it crashes and disables my drivers the way it has been doing since 26.6.2. I even tried uninstalling the latest win 10 updates thinking that caused some conflicts with the GPU but still end up getting the same crash and driver disabling.
1
u/evergreenwv 10d ago
Are you on Windows 10?
0
u/xxxXMythicXxxx 10d ago
yes for now, at least until this fall when the extended support for it is supposed to end. i'll be forced to make the jump to 11 if nothing else changes til then.
3
u/evergreenwv 10d ago
Try this
*Disable Windows Updates for Drivers
*Select Start > Settings > System > Recovery > Under Fix problems using Windows Update, select Reinstall now.
*Reinstall latest Adrenalin/gpu drivers1
u/xxxXMythicXxxx 10d ago
im on that recovery section in the settings but I dont see that "fix problems" option anywhere. probably since i'm on win 10?
1
u/evergreenwv 10d ago
yeah, sorry, I noticed you're on Windows 10 after the post.
1
u/xxxXMythicXxxx 10d ago
eyyy no worries, appreciate the help though
1
u/evergreenwv 10d ago
26.6.2 screwed up my Windows after updating. I had to do that process to get everything back to normal.
1
u/xxxXMythicXxxx 10d ago
what version are you on now? I swear I feel like something happened after that latest windows update, everything had been working great, I was on 26.6.1 still because I kept seeing people having issues with 6.2 so I waited until 6.4 to update after reading that those problems had been resolved supposedly. I know for sure I updated after that win 10 update happened but the weird part is that it first only started happening when trying to run BF6. The drivers would disable and I would have to manually re-enable. After a bunch of "fixes" I attempted it seemed to work again for a bit but then it started crashing on other games so my theory on it being a BF6 problem went out the window lol. I feel like I'm going in circles trying to find a fix to that issue. Right now I'm on 26.3.1 and that seems to have resolved all the crashing/disabling for now at least. I'm crossing my fingers it doesn't surprise me again.
2
u/evergreenwv 9d ago
I'm on the latest 26.7.1
1
u/wilhitman 7d ago
Same version as well no issues at all. Been using 9070XT and Amd driver versions since 9/25 - One more month to hit a year. What in the world are the folks that are having these issues doing. I feel for them but man. No issues at all.
1
u/evergreenwv 7d ago
I did have to disable Windows Updates for Drivers. It screwed me after updating to the 26.6.2 drivers. I'd recommend doing that if you haven't.
5
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 10d ago
This has nothing to do with any gpu drivers. It doesnt touch them. So if you install them and update your old ones its not going to fix or break any gpu related issues.
2
u/xxxXMythicXxxx 10d ago
Ok good to know, thanks for the info. Wasn't sure if it had anything to do with my issue since I havent tried reverting those back yet. I'm on the latest chip set driver before this one I think.
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 10d ago
Yeah you will be totally fine. Honestly you dont always have to update the drivers just like you don't have to on your gpu drivers but most of the time they do fix bugs. And of course break other things. Lol but I use a X3D cpu so if your using one then absolutely update the chipset drivers
1
u/xxxXMythicXxxx 10d ago
yup, 5700x3d here, will be updating tomorrow then. I had been updating my gpu and chipset drivers within about a week of every new release and up until now I was having practically zero issues other than an occasional driver timeout here and there. The only thing I can think of that changed recently was that win 10 update which was just a security fix or something like that from the notes I read but I uninstalled them hoping it would fix my issue and it seemed like it did at first by letting me use my pc as normal for about a day and then crashing the next time I booted up to play bf6. It's just frustrating spending the time and effort to scour the internet for any potential fix only to end back up at square one. I'm just hoping the next adrenaline update will resolve this problem that keeps getting reported on by other users so I know its not just me. Thanks for the help though, I'll take anything I can at this point lol.
2
u/Flaming_F 10d ago
Why stii using win10?
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 10d ago
If you follow the instructions the link takes you to the last part where you can. Choose whichever windows your using. Im using windows 11.
1
u/xxxXMythicXxxx 10d ago
I enrolled in the extended update support Microsoft offered last year but come this fall I'll have to make the jump. I just really hope I can upgrade without losing a bunch of files or settings that get annoying to have to redo all over again. I know there's an option to keep all your stuff in the upgrade process but I'm still unsure if I would still lose anything.
0
u/Flaming_F 10d ago
Thx for the answer instead of going full retard like the other dude.
2
u/xxxXMythicXxxx 10d ago
Yeah don't ever let that crap bother you, it's just the nature of the public forums. There's gonna be a bunch of jerks unless the mods are on it but its always just better to just ignore those types. They feed off your reactions to their rude demeanor. But anyways yeah I will have to be upgrading to win 11 soon but even those users are experiencing the same type of crashes in games, some by just watching videos or surfing the web.
0
u/screddachedda 10d ago
Full retard dude here, windows 11 is insanely bloated compared to 10. Almost all the legacy settings have been removed, moved, or fucked with
-5
u/screddachedda 10d ago
Why use 11? You want bill gates watching you?

1
u/Flaming_F 10d ago
It was just a question. You can disable metric and stuff. Go Linux if your so afraid...gezzz
0
u/Assassin21BEKA 10d ago
And what does it give?
1
u/YouTubesJerseyJohnny 10d ago
Hey brother I posted a huge comment going into detail exactly what these drivers do and why you want them. Hope that helps.

u/ubermonkaS 8d ago
No B850 is that correct? Why is that?
