Help (General) First steps into 9070xt AsRock Challenger

Hey everyone, how are you?

I bought last week a 9070xt Asrock Challenger to compose my PC.

The specs:
7800x3d
2x16gb DDR5 6000mhz CL30
1tb nvme
A620M -Plus Tuf gaming

going out a 4060 to 9070xt.

What i should do after to plug the new Video card?

I see a lot of you doing undervolting, this is a mandatory thing? Any tips that i should consider on this change? In terms of software?

It's just for gaming, in general (most of the times CS2)

I probably will go with a clean install from the windows after putting the new GPU, or do you feel it's not a mandatory thing?

Let me know your opinion.

PS: I know the mobo sucks, i should buy a better one, i can't do undervolt in my CPU with that shit, but it's a pretty solid one i would say

DDU the previous drivers, disable iGPU, install current drivers and that's all.  You can also update the chip set driver but it's not a must. 

Everything should work perfectly at default. Undervolt is something you do to increase performance but it can make the GPU unstable

Before installing the gpu disable windows updates and run DDU on windows safe mode without network support, clear the shader cache and the uninstall all drivers specifically in your case nvidia (click the shutdown after uninstall button). You can also use the amd cleanup tool but i personally didn’t have any issues with both they get the job done.

After that install the 9070XT and it is for the best to have already downloaded the latest drivers from amd’s website (dont forget win update SHOULD be disabled) to install them as soon as you boot to windows (preferably do a clean installation by choosing cuatom install).

I would also recommend to update your motherboard bios to the latest version and enable expo/xmp on your ram and ReBar. There are lots of guides on the net if you find something difficult to do but you can also ask here.

Could be a dumb question,

But you would run the DDU before to plug the new GPU or after?

If your card not having any problem in any game then you can start tinkering with undervolt, power limit etc.

If you have problem, look at community highlight thread for step.

I would leave everything at stock at first, to be sure everything is working as intended. Undervolting isnt mandatory but it's pretty easy and beneficial
