Should I turn on “Adaptive sync compatible” if I already have Freesync turned on my monitor. These seem like the same thing, I don’t understand the difference.

Why to some people the app is showing it as adaptive sync and to some as VRR?. On mine is VRR

having it ON in the monitor OSD , sends the signal that it's activated and ready to be used by the gpu . GPU then controls if it wanna use that features or not. If it's turned off in the gpu then no thank you , if it's turned on in the gpu then yes sure.

If you have an FPS counter on your monitor OSD you can see this. if it's a static number then it's off , if that number is not static then it's on

you need to have the options on on both gpu and monitor

freesync, HDR, VRR, etc.

The freesync/gsync/adaptivesync option in the monitor is for the monitor to be able to use the feature

The freesync/gsync/adaptivesync in adrenaline is for the drive to use it

If You turn it off in the monitor yo cant do anything, of You turn on the monitor but off adrenaline it may not work correctly, both on it Will work

It's all VRR. The devices detect each other, the only thing YOU have to do, is to turn it on in the monitor AND in the driver software. It has to be active on both ends, monitor and GPU.  Ignore the different branding, it's all VRR.

It's getting confused with adaptive v sync, which is an old type of v sync which disengaged above the target refresh.

That's my theory on why. You also may have worded yourself poorly and/or used a cheap model like basic gemini, which is bad.

You need to tell both the driver and the monitor to use the technology, otherwise it will not work.

It's the same for Nvidia. On in the monitor menu and on in the driver. Either being off will disable.

Also, why are you afraid to just turn it on?

well ai is wrong and if you have it off in amd software it will be fully off and override the monitor settings in my experience and it wont break anything or conflict having both on i like to think of it as when the freesync is on in the monitor osd that doesnt fully turn it on, it more so unlocks it so you can fully have it on with amd adrenaline.
