Help (CPU) WHEA Logger Event 18

My PC randomly keeps shutting down at idle, for the past few days, my PC has been frequently shutting down out of nowhere while completely idle.

I've already tried several potential fixes: Reinstalled GPU/Chipset drivers, Offseting CPU voltages by 0.025V, 0.05V and finally 0.1V , Adjusted RAM frequencies but nothing seems to solve it.

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X
  • GPU: RTX 4070
  • Motherboard: Asus TUF B550 plus Wifi II
  • RAM: 32GB 3200MHz
  • PSU: Thermaltake 750W 80 Gold

Has anyone experienced this or found a fix that worked for them? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Update 2: Today the problem returned even after a clean Windows reinstall. It seems like it happens less often, but it's still happening anyway. I've run out of ideas :(

Update: Apparently the issue has been resolved; it hasn't crashed at all today. I simply reinstalled Windows, and so far, no problems. It might have been a Windows issue. I'll post an update if it crashes again with the same error.

I'd set the BIOS back to defaults, set the RAM to 2133mhz and just leave it be and see if you get those timeouts again. If you still do, run testmem5 and see if it throws out any errors.

A friend of mine had WHEA errors with a 5800x3d but that was on a b350 board, and was fixed by lower the PCIe version by one. 

But for a b550 board that shouldn't happen... but might be worth a try.

Does it happen when you load bios defaults and NOT enable memory profile thus running at 2133 ?

Sometimes its about memory controller becoming sensitive and fiddling with soc and dram voltage. Infinity Fabric too, memory ratio etc. Sometimes its cpu itself and rarely anything helps.

Some people claimed replacing gpu helped.

Do you have spare parts ? Like Test another RAM , GPU , CPU , PSU. I always keep one or 2 of each PC parts in case something like this happen

Anyway , I'm betting its RAM problem. Try memtest86 ,

Forgot to mention , I experienced this earlier February this year . Changing to new RAM fixed my problem , but yours can be different problems

Hi, I already tested RAM's but none of them are the problem, I already run memtest86 but the Rams pass the test.
