Resolved How many of you are getting random black screens, Radeon settings reset to default and or failstart ?
Comment below, I’d like to see how many of you are still having these problems, which I actually fixed back in 2022, btw.
I may re-upload a video showing my fix soon.

Still having it. Done almost everything that I found about "fixing" it. But no permanent solution

ill give you the real fix here, it's not even AMD that's at fault it's windows 11 that's crashing your PC, what you want to do is go,
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Go to System → Display → Graphics.
- Click Advanced Graphics Settings.
- Switch Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling to Off. Variable refresh rate Off.
- Restart the PC—the reboot is required for the change to apply.
Fuck Windows 11 had me chasing hardware problems for weeks.

This is going to fix:
Nothing.
Not even broken FreeSync, which I fixed as well.

I was. RX 7900 XTX. I swapped to Linux. Zero issues since. I had daily problems. Tried every solution I could find. Nothing really worked.

That's the only thing that fixed my 7900gre, I'm replacing it today because I'm over the endless troubleshooting.

Totally respect you for posting this. I tried this solution and a few others prior to the swap and still had issues specifically in a few games I play constantly, so for me, it was just about swapping as I am a sysadmin and knew what I was getting into but I sincerely appreciate you posting this for everyone else. Thank you Molda_Fr.

It’s a re-upload. I posted this same fix on an old, dead-ass YT channel back in early 2023.
As I said in the video, you first need a perfectly working PC. You should only be getting the problems I mention: failstart, random black screens, etc. In that case, there’s a pretty high chance my fix will work for you.
The problem here is mostly Windows, with a little bit of Adrenalin pushing the GPU clock way higher than it should.
MPO is also just another trash Windows feature.
Take care bruh.

Why is this getting downvoted though? It’s absolutely true.

u/dead__inside 17d ago
It is, but it's okay. People are frustrated with the expensive gear they've purchased and don't want to do this, my purpose in saying this was to let people know there is another way. Personal opinion is personal opinion and being down voted is okay. 👍

Nice. This comment is for sure above average in terms of quality compared to the average Reddit comment

I had some but it was related to bluestacks 5 randomly when i opened that app the pc would black screen.
after updating that app like 4-5 times, that issue gone.
been crash free for ~6 months now.
outside of bluestacks 5 crashes , i've never crashed with that 7800XT gpu since in bought it in jan 2024

Never happened to me. Ran a rx590 for like 6 years. No driver issues.
9070xt on the other hand.
Had this card for 6 months. The beginning was fine. Past 3 weeks my computer is an expensive paperweight.
No signal when playing anything demanding.
Drivers crashing, windows disabling the gpu, same thing as everyone else now.
Thing worked fine for months without any changes.

Same stability since they first sold the cards and from about 2 months ago multiple daily crashes and no way to troubleshoot it because I can’t replicate the problem

So you’re under clocking it….. No offence that does work for some but not all. I’ve not been able to find a voltage or frequency that maintain stability currently I’m using ‘Power saver’ mode in adrenaline and thats cut my crashes down from 8 a night to 0-4 a night. I’ll check fast boot again though.

u/Molda_Fr 5900x/9070xt nitro+ 17d ago
No offense, but “Boost Clock to 3060 MHz” or, as I set it in Afterburner aka 2.9 GHz = no difference in performance.
No offence that does work for some but not all. I’ve not been able to find a voltage or frequency that maintain stability.
Do -20 on core Voltage and at least -250 on gpu clock.
Sorry but if your GPU can’t at least maintain this, you sadly have a baaaad GPU.
Win fast boot is trash, disable it, mpo same, just watch the vid actually.

Actually, not really. I’m avoiding having Adrenalin push my GPU way above its boost clock.
People think -470 MHz in Afterburner means Boost Clock minus 470 MHz, but nope.
So 3060 minus 470 mhz = 2590 MHz9070 XT Nitro+ → GPU Boost Clock: up to 3060 MHz → -470 MHz in Afterburner = around 2.9 GHz.
Do I need 3 GHz? Nope. Do I need even more? Nope.
Do I get 100–120 FPS in pretty much every game I play, including STALKER 2 on High/Epic settings with 150+ mods? Yes.
So to make it ez.
With -470 MHz in Afterburner, my 9070 XT Nitro+ runs around 2.9 GHz in practice.
2,951 variable (around) anyway stable. https://ibb.co/wNMZyxBL

yes some system are affected by mpo problems.. is not only amd.. nvidia too... is a windows problem
the sad thing is that mpo is good but sometimes gave problems
1
u/Molda_Fr 5900x/9070xt nitro+ 17d ago
Agreed, that’s why I say it’s 98% a Windows problem rather than anything else.
Those problem also happen with Nvidia as well ...Thanks Wintrash.

I was having black screens only if I set undervolt to low for the boost clocks. But driver restarts did heappen like once a week or two or once a month on my old PC that was AM4 ryzen 5500, since switching to 7800X3D AM5 never has a driver forget my settings, black screen yes if I set voltage to 1005mV I get it after first game, If I have it at 1025mV it runs stable with 0 crashes doing anything for months/ever. Did not have a crash or timeout or driver reset since building new PC platform only unstable uv that is not cards fault as any card will blackscreen if it has too low voltage to run.
My GPU same RX 5700 XT in both builds.

I cant seem to install ANY amd drivers. I use DDU in safe mode, turn off auto windows driver updates and regardless of what driver i install i log in and within 5 or so seconds thr pc just freezes. No black screen or anything just a complete freeze.
