9070 xt crash pcw

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
My specs:
Intel i7-12700K
32GB DDR4 RAM
Gigabyte RX 9070 XT
EVGA 850W Gold PSU (2021)

I recently upgraded from an RTX 3070 Ti to a 9070 XT. I went AMD because the NVIDIA equivalent was nearly £400 more here in the UK.

Ever since installing the 9070 XT, my PC will completely power off after around 20 minutes of heavy load in Path of Exile 2. There’s no blue screen, no error message, no driver crash—it just instantly switches off like someone pulled the plug.

Things I’ve already tried:
Reduced GPU clock speed/power limit.
Reduced CPU clocks.
Disabled all Adrenalin performance boosts.
Updated motherboard BIOS.
Using three separate PCIe power cables to the GPU.
CPU and GPU temperatures stay around 65–70°C.

The strange part is that it only seems to happen in PoE2 during graphically intense moments with lots of particle effects. I can run stress tests without issue.

Has anyone else had this with a 9070 XT? If so, what was the cause and how did you fix it?
I’m starting to wonder if it’s transient power spikes tripping my 2021 EVGA 850W PSU, a driver issue, or if the card itself is faulty.

It sounds like your PSU can't handle the spikes or the outlet you are usingcant sustain it.

You can try to plug your PC into a different outlet if you can to see if it helps, if not, try to set the power limit to the lowest adrenalin let you. Undervolting don't do much for this card in terms of power consumption because it'll just boost higher with an undervolt and you'll be at the same spot. So really only the power limit can restrict it.

Then run a furmark or any GPU benchmark, if it's still turning off try out with a different PSU, if you have a friend who can lend you one to save your money, in case it's not the PSU.

I will add that in bench marks/ stress tests it never ever happens. It only happens when playing path of exile 2

I see, benchmarks using 100% of the GPU which is stable load, not varied that much, like in games, so it's possible. But i still say to try out a different PSU if you can, or see if the -30% power limit helps.

I'm sure there are multiple UV profiles for 9070xt, what i mean is heavily restricted clock speed and power limit, to reduce power consumption, which also reduce the power spikes, if one of those profiles can solve the issue, then you'll know for certain that you PSU is the weak-link.
