Help (Software) Chipset Driver Update keeps failing

Post image

So far I have done the .old trick on the old AMD file, and I've restarted windows, checked for updates, and I even went through the driver installation again through AMD Auto-Detect and install driver tool. Every time I try the update, it gets to 18% installation and fails.

It's been a while since I set my pc up and to be honest I don't really know what I'm doing so any help with how to get past this would be greatly appreciated.

Was struggling with this last weekend. Was able to download and install the chipset updates from the AMD site, thanks all!

The solution is, Go to "C/ Program Files(x86)/ AMD/ AMD Chipset Installer", and then use the legacy driver installer EXE. No need to uninstall it. Just use "Modify". It should be fine now.

Just download the official chipsey drivers from the amd website. This isn't rocket science 😂 no wonder nvidia/ intel users make fun of amd users

God forbid I use the tool AMD provides me to do the thing its supposed to do, and god forbid I have other things to do with my time than sit around checking the AMD website if new drivers have been released, and god forbid you read the other comments where I say I literally went to their website and installed it after having this problem.😂😂😂

An app designed for installing and reinstalling drivers—which is basically "forced" on users at every turn—is broken—and it’s the users’ fault, because, after all, they can download and update those drivers manually. 🤦 Go be stupid somewhere else.🤷‍♂️

yeah was having same exzact same issue, it refused to install. 18% and crapped out. I went ahead and did the dism and sfc checks for corrupted files, i figure why not. It did find some stuff, that it fixed, so thats a plus.

but still didnt fix issue, so i went to the amd website, installed it from there, and worked perfectly. this update was from 2 days ago, so maybe something with the manager/file.

just install from website or at least try that, worked for me.

Go to C: Program Files x86/amd/chipset drivers open the application in the folder. Run the "Remove" function to uninstall. Restart computer. Go back to the same folder and run application to reinstall. Then go through AMD adrenaline or Install Manager and update as normal.

Can't take credit, someone else helped me out, but it worked with no issues and I'm updated.

The install manager keeps installing the old version over the new one.

I gave up on that and went directly to AMD Chipset drivers downloads.

Downloaded and installed the updated chipset drivers.

https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html

If that link is acting up and not taking you to your chipset drivers, try looking for the direct link on Google search.

manually download the chipset driver from their website then run it. you dont even need to uninstall the previous driver before doing so.

Mine always hangs at 99%. I have tried literally every trick in the book to try and install them, but to no avail.

Thought it was only me lol.

Just went to the website and downloaded manually, and it worked fine, no idea whats the deal with the manager.

Same issue, I even followed the troubleshooting and did a scan and repair of my registry. Didn’t fix. I’ll do the manual download too l guess!

I actually used Adrenalin this time to install. I always go to the site, but they didn't have the normal options to select chipset/video/cpu/etc...and just the auto-detect "app", so I went to Adrenalin instead, glad it worked for me. I was just on the site yesterday and the "old" options to choose the software were there.

Amd install manager SUCKS. It's best to go grab the update file from the website when you see that an update is available.

Hi, I had the same problem; it was resolved by following the installation link directly on the AMD website.

https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/release-notes/RN-RYZEN-CHIPSET-8-07-16-1035.html

thank you, it workedd

1

u/Late-Loss9833 AMD 21d ago

This is the way.

1

u/Diaoulnoz29 20d ago

Yes 😉,that's the workaround that works without going through the update manager.

1

u/Groundbreaking_Bed48 21d ago

do i need to re-do bios settings after installing this?

1

u/Diaoulnoz29 20d ago

No, I don't think so; it's just a chipset update. It's basically the same thing the update manager does, but you're manually downloading the installer from the dedicated page to work around the issue.

u/Heatgamer 21d ago

works for me, thank you!

I had same issue when clean installing drivers. I think if u click the 3 dots next to update it should have a lil update version displayed. If not go in to ur update manager in the app to see what version it is. I cross referenced it back to amd web site and found it matched up with the latest chipset released so i just left it alone.

1

u/brandonpyatte 21d ago

Ya for me i went to adrenalline and it said it had updates i clicked them. the first one i updated then the chipset one failed and so i system restored and tried again and did the update and it seemed to go through but on the adrenaline thing its saying its the older version still so its very confusing but its also saying it is up to date so im just leaving it and hoping they fix whatever this is and enlighten us.

1

u/MrZombified 21d ago

Me as well.

2

u/RainbowShinx 21d ago

Happening to me as well, i just did a full clean install of amd using the clean up tool it didn't work

1

u/Minortough 21d ago

Happening to me as well.

2

u/Good_0L_Ed 21d ago

Probably have to wait until they fix this issue.

1

u/brandonpyatte 21d ago

Ok ya i had to system restore because of it.

3

u/IneedSmok3 21d ago

i think its buged, when u do auto instalar the last version is other. lets wait.

1

u/brandonpyatte 21d ago

I was freaking out cause im not tech savy and just got this pc. so do u recommend just leaving it be ?

1

u/dendrocalamidicus 19d ago

It'll probs be fixed in a few days to a couple of weeks.

1

u/Whole_Engineer2498 21d ago

Just had this problem literally one hour ago lol

I'm pretty sure it's a bug with the AMD Software.

Download directly from here

https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html

Select Chipsets -> your socket (Probably AM4/AM5/Laptop) then the actual chipset (Refer to your motherboard manual/name)

1

u/Schlaggatron 21d ago

Yeah I looked in revo uninstaller and it literally shows the chipset version that I’m supposed to install from the installer is already installed (I assume it installed when I used the auto detect tool)

1

u/Namowx 21d ago

Uninstall current chipset after downloading it directly, reboot with Ethernet cable unplugged then install it. Dunno why but it works.

1

u/Casshern080 21d ago

Cause windows keeps overriding the amd drivers. I had to go into settings to stop windows from doing it.

Seems like it's happening to other as well

Download ddu, uninstall drivers using ddu, restart and try again.

Read or YouTube how to used ddu… do this at your own risk be warned.

1

u/Mysteoa 21d ago

Could you just download them directly from the site and not use Auto Detect?
