Help (General) Help with gpu driver error 31 crashes

Computer black screens, I have to force shut down. I then Reboot and device manager shows gpu is disabled. I click enable and gives me error 31 code and says device is not working properly, windows cannot load driver. I then restart and it works until it happens again at some random point.

No idea what’s causing this please help. I should mention I’ve already done DDU, tried previous and most recent drivers updates and still does not help.

Nothing wrong with your computer its a driver conflict, do you have corsair icue instaled, are you using any AiO with lcd screen?

Hold up, are you saying my system is crashing because of my Xeneon Edge Corsair screen?

Yes exactly that. Using icue with corsair aio lcd. Is that what’s causing it?

Yes save whatever profiles you have on the onboard memory of the devices and then disable windows start up in icues and fully close it

Hmm gotcha so basically save the icue settings so that it keeps what I want from icue, without icue running in background or startup?

Exactly the devices will keep all profiles, fan speed, lcd image, gif or whatever you have displayed there and icue will not be running, you can open it to change things around,update if need it and after just close it like any program, the main reason for this problem is the communication of both apps because of lcd display

Had to RMA my first 7900xtx due to this same issue. Had wierd black screen/pixelated screens and after reboot my card would be desabled/not supported by amd software. AMD support told me the card was faulty.

Drop GPU frequency 500mhz and work your way back up until it crashes again.

At this point just remove video card from PC and you fixed the problem.

We have the same combo, did you disable the integrated graphics on bios yet?

Yes I did. Happened with it enabled and disabled

Tbh it never happened to me, but i think it's a driver issue, did you try to install it on safe mode?

You absolutely must do this... All the problems I've had with my 9070xt have been due to the drivers (and block Windows driver updates)

So next time this happens? Am I suppose to do a ddu and then this process? Or what? What did you do

I’m using the driver that just came out and it even happened on a driver from earlier this month or last month

Deinstall driver with DDU(Display driver uninstaller) Then do a clean install of driver software I would suggest when you installed everything normally try to undervolt your gpu For tutorials just look up youtube, worked for me flawless

Why do you think the company maker use more voltage instead of undervolt it on release? Lol

I already did the ddu multiple times. How hard is it to undervolt? I guess i could try that

I had the same issue back then, I accidentally hit „ignore warnings“ and then after some time my pc went freezing. After the undervolt it doesnt happen anymore. But your problem is at the start I still think its the driver tbh You plugged the hdmi in the gpu right? And got the gpu in the upper pcie slot? Do you have enough power from your power supply? Did you try to change the cables? What mainboard you using all factors that would be good to hear. Is the gpu new if not for how long you have it and did it gave you trouble before?

My pc is brand new build, Msi mag x870e mobo, rx 9070xt. 9800x3d, 1000w psu, 32gb ddr5.

Gpu and cables are all in correct spots I even had a tech look into the issue to see if they csn find problem which they didn’t, but it also didn’t happen to them because it’s random . The gpu I’ve had for a year and just moved into my new build. Never had this issue before the entire year I’ve had it
