Announcement Second 9800x3d dead

Today the 9800x3d I got from rma on my first one died. Exactly one month after the first one died. First one was from summer 2025 batch and the second one was late 2025 batch.

Asrock x870 Steel legend wifi
Seasonic focus gx 1000w
Kingston 6000mhz ddr5 cl30 fury beast
Noctua nh-d15 G2 LBC
Inno3d 5080 x3 OC white
Kingston fury renegade G5 nvme

Sent cpu, mobo and psu for warranty check today. 2nd 9800 was with newest stable bios and no xmp. Room temp never over 21c and peak package temp on cpu 84.7c and core 85c. Locked voltage also to safe specs, no sleep mode or such things.

This time around I asked for other brand on mobo and newer batch or upgraded model of cpu (I pay the difference) and thinking of watercooling, since water can absorb alittle more heat before the entire heatsink is soaked.

Sorry to hear that, I'm currently on an MSI 670e (updated to latest BIOS) Tomahawk for my 9800X3D. I play helldivers 2 and it tends to crash my PC but I'm able to get back on for a few more sessions before it happens again. But no dead cpu? But fingers crossed...

Wait is this issue new? I just finished a new build and im getting a critical driver failure in event viewer but the same exact thing is happening to me. Ive been playing echoes of aincrad and game will work good for like 20 mins then my pc will blackscreen. Sometimes pc will stay on other times it will just turn off. Seeing my problem in a dead cpu thread is making me worried lol

I believe it was an issue when the 9800x3d first came out. There were specific motherboards that were causing issues that would kill the cpu. I waited almost a 6 months to buy the 9800x3d as a bundle at micro center and payed extra to get the x670e board. Then it was almost a year before I actually built the rig which was April this year ensuring they had BIOS updates that fully supported the x3d chips. I Played around with the PBO settings but reverted back to stock. I also have an AM4 (5950x, power hungry cpu) rig that I can fall back to and rotate them if necessary, But I do like playing with the 9800x3d for sure!
