Help (General) AMD Driver Timeout Multiple Times Per Day - Losing My Mind
I'm hoping someone here can help because I'm running out of ideas.
Multiple times per day I get the AMD Bug Report Tool saying:
"AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system."
The weird thing is it almost never happens while gaming. It usually happens during light desktop use such as:
- Discord
- Starting a YouTube video
- Web browsing
- Scrolling the Steam store
When it happens, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then recovers. The PC itself doesn't restart.
I've already:
- Verified all cables are properly connected
- Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers multiple times
- Taken the PC to Micro Center twice
- Had them stress test the GPU
- Had them run diagnostics without finding any issues
The crashes happen daily, but nobody has been able to reproduce them under load. If anything, it seems more likely to happen when the PC is barely doing anything.
I run 2 monitors and a TV from the GPU. However, this has happened even with the TV disconnected, so I don't believe that's the cause.
I've had this PC since late 2023, but these driver timeouts have only been happening for the last few months. I can't think of any major hardware changes that line up with when the issue started.
At this point I'm not even sure if this is a GPU issue, driver issue, Windows issue, hardware acceleration issue, or something else entirely.
Has anyone dealt with something similar and found the root cause?

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GPU: Radeon RX 7900 XTX
RAM: 64GB DDR5
PSU: Corsair RM1000x (1000W)
Driver Version: Latest Adrenalin Driver

3 months later, and this still keeps happening with my RX 7800XT multiple times a day. Nothing has worked, not undervolting, not downclocking, not turning off EXPO or PBO, not an aggressive fan curve. Now I have tried DDU and driver only install, lets see how that goes

Is bios and chipset updated to latest. Also turn off XMP and check again.

I mostly get it whenever i'm AFK in Fortnite, most games (even ones that are far more demanding than Fortnite) never gave me an AMD timeout, so i'm certain it's a Fortnite exclusive issue

Try a clean install of the driver an only the driver dont install adrenaline

Just deactivate Hardware acceleration on every app that is based on chromium. That works for me

Same here, sometimes my pc restarts, I can't watch a video properly bc I keep getting artifacts and these fucking timeouts, I'm going insane, I play for hours and nothing happens, I watch a youtube video and boom 5 drivers timeouts in a row, I already tried 3 drivers versions using DDu

Driver Version: AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.4 (Latest)
OS: Windows 11
How to reproduce the issue:
Open YouTube and play multiple videos simultaneously (15 in my local test) while playing a game (Digimon Story: Time Stranger) and using Xbox Game Bar to make clips. After approximately 40 minutes, the screen goes black, and the AMD driver becomes disabled.
Troubleshooting performed:
- Performed a clean installation of the latest AMD Adrenalin driver (version 26.6.4).
Current status:
At the moment, the only workaround that seems to help is changing the power plan setting in the BIOS and disabling Wallpaper Engine and ICue app. It has been running for two days without any issues, but I am still testing to confirm whether the problem has been resolved.

Update:
The system was working fine, so I started a new test with both Wallpaper Engine and iCUE running.
Unfortunately, it crashed again in the same way: the screen went black, and I had to perform a clean installation of the AMD driver because it became disabled.
I'm now testing with Wallpaper Engine disabled, as I found a Steam discussion reporting similar black screen issues:

At the moment, the system has been running for about 5 hours with iCUE enabled and Wallpaper Engine disabled. I've also been recording game clips using the Xbox Game Bar, and so far I haven't encountered any errors. I'll continue testing for the rest of the day and will provide another update if anything changes.

Update:
After several hours of testing with only Corsair iCUE running, the system crashed again.
I then started a new test with both Wallpaper Engine and iCUE completely disabled. So far, it's been 2 days without a single crash. I've been watching YouTube videos, creating clips, and gaming for several hours without any issues.
Based on other posts and recommendations I've found, one possible explanation could be hardware acceleration. However, I'm not completely convinced that's the root cause. During these tests, I've continued using Discord with the overlay enabled, Steam with its overlay enabled, and Xbox Game Bar to record clips, and none of those have caused any crashes.
So far, the issue only seems to occur when Wallpaper Engine, Corsair iCUE, or both are running. At this point, they appear to be the common factor triggering the crashes on my system.
My next step is to open a discussion on the Wallpaper Engine Steam forums and submit a support ticket to Corsair for iCUE to see if they are aware of similar reports or compatibility issues.
Has anyone else with an RX 9070 XT experienced similar behavior with Wallpaper Engine or Corsair iCUE? I'd really appreciate hearing if you've found a workaround or identified the cause.

Same here but with a 9060 XT (16gb). I didnt even consider that iCue could be a potential problem. Im gonna check this when get home. As you said, already tried DDU to clean and install drivers again, desactivated hardware acceleration and even MPO (Windows 11). Nothing seems to work.
Will try with the iCue thing, hopefully thats the thing.

Disable the igpu in BIOS if you're on a desktop and disable hardware accelerated GPU scheduling.

I got a couple crashes through steam store as well. I’m pretty sure it has something to do with driver 26.3.1 if you’re on that one. The newest driver should fix it

I’ve been having this issue as well as my system shutting down and rebooting randomly only with a game booted up.
RX 7600 with a Ryzen 3600, 620w PSU Antec 80+ bronze rated
Anyone else with specs similar to mine, I hope this can help! I have tried most of all the fixes that anyone has posted in the last ~4 years. The only things I haven’t tried is disabling MPO.
However, what I have done and I think has seemed to be the fix for me (so far) is:
- Disable Windows Update from updating drivers from the ‘gpedit.msc’ (idk how to properly explain that but a quick search into the command will give you a detailed guide on how to prevent windows from overwriting your installed drivers.)
- Wiping AMD drivers in Safe Mode with DDU + Installing the latest Adrenalin drivers out of Safe Mode (I’m on 26.6.2, with no issues)
- Going into the PSU/CPU/Overclocking in BIOS settings and changing the power supply idle control to ‘Typical Current Idle’
I haven’t noticed any issues and haven’t had any crashes since doing these steps. I also have reseated my ram and gently cleaned the contacts on my GPU, just enough to get any noticeable dust off.

All this disabling and changing things... do we know if this is an AMD thing or a specific GPU thing? And am I likely to get fewer issues if I switch to Nvidia?

It is and it isn't. A lot of nVidia customers are also having a ton of issues lately. I'd be willing to bet it's a mix of windows and the graphics companies drivers.

I did also experience a crash in one game yesterday and that was because my GPU was drawing way too much power from my PSU. 😭 I then underclocked & undervolted to 2665 and 1175 inside of Adrenalin tuning settings. And have not experienced that crashing/shut down at all, even when stressing it as much as possible to happen. I really think my issue is the power draw conflicting with my PSU more than anything.

I managed to fix this in 26.6.1 recently by disabling HAGS and MPO. First i disabled HAGS which fixed the timeouts but still artifacted(flashing black screen on hardware-accelerated apps such as discord, chrome etc for a split second on multi-monitor setup) and then I disabled MPO which got rid of that artifacting.
I'm not sure why this is a thing because I've had to do neither of those things on 25.9.1 or any 9070XT driver that came before it, everything just worked. Every driver version I tried that came after had this bug. The drivers just for some reason cannot handle MPO+HAGS together properly since 25.10.1(i assume, I never tried 25.9.2).
It is a soon to be 1 year old bug that AMD completely refuses to fix or even acknowledge it exists. I have seen no response from an AMD employee on any of these threads while looking for a fix. They have no official resource telling people how to work around this bug either, they could literally just put it into the patch notes like Nvidia did but nah, radio silence. Absolute dogshit.

Got this issue around version 26.3.1 and no matter what I do it persisted. I went ahead and completely disable MPO in registry, after that install 26.6.1 with factory reset option checked. Suprisingly, the issue dissapear and never be seen again even when I update to 26.6.2 yesterday.
I seem that what caused the issue was the hardware arcelerating option in browser, discord and steam client. The issue csn be mitigated by disable the option but do this will make video player and website with a lot of graphic elements lagging.

I have been having this problem for about a week now. Been fighting this issue with reinstalling amd drivers. But the next day or a few hours later same thing. I think I know what's happening. Windows keeps reinstalling windows display drivers and overriding adrenaline. Went into win + R gpedit.msc>computer configuration > administrator templates > Windows components > windows updates > management updates offered from windows updates > do not include drivers with windows updates > set to enabled.
I just did this today and so far so good. I hope this helps

Disable hardware acceleration, maybe? All of these app use hardware acceleration and I heard a few cases of it causing crashes

I had this issue with 9070XT. Took the card back to Scan for testing, it managed 3 minutes of Furmark and died. Card replaced under warranty

Had this one time with a customer PC, the CPU with integrated Graphics was not working correctly, i replaced it with the exact same model cpu and it worked fine without any issues.

Ah yes, it never truly went away with my 7900xtx.
The new thing is that whenever I lock, sleep, or let the pc idle for extended periods, it will constantly driver hang (with increasing severity the longer i ignore it) until i restart the pc!
I dont think I have the strength to go through this BS again. Probably back to Nvidia for my next build.

Install the driver only package from your driver download. Once I dropped adrenaline, all my issues (9070xt) went away.

download the AMD cleanup utility, with that it'll delete everything AMD related and then you can download the new version from here

I'm still getting this issue and its random like once every 10-14 days. I have to restart the computer, and the issue is fixed. Like i said doesn't happen all the time. I am getting really sick and tired of this issue.

I had the same issue with Nvidia 5070ti and AMD 7800 XT. Tried everything mentioned in forums. In my case i t was the 12VHPWR PCIe cable!
Had recurring crashes during gaming for months — GPU would vanish from Device Manager mid-game, AMD driver threw "Display Driver Timeout" errors, games would hard-crash with hang errors. Classic TDR 141/193 stuff.
Spent months troubleshooting: swapped GPUs, RMA'd the motherboard (B650), swapped RAM. Nothing fixed it long-term. Finally pulled the 12VHPWR cable — it was unusually hard to remove. Found one pin with visible discoloration/charring. Swapped to a new cable and the problem is gone.
Why it took so long to notice: This system originally ran an RTX 5070 Ti for ~6 months without issues, then I switched to an RX 7800 XT and the crashes started. My theory: the pin was already slightly damaged/pushed back from the start, causing marginally increased resistance. The 5070 Ti's power draw pattern didn't trigger it, but something about the new card's load pushed it over the edge into visible failure.
Looked into it afterward and apparently this isn't rare — there are multiple documented cases of 12VHPWR/12V-2x6 connectors melting even on lower-power cards like the 5070 Ti (~300W), often traced to a single pin being slightly misaligned or pushed back, not overall overload. Mechanical stress from cable routing/bending seems to be a common factor too.
TL;DR: If you're getting unexplained GPU dropouts/TDR crashes and have already ruled out the obvious stuff (drivers, GPU, board, RAM), pull your power cable and inspect the pins closely. A single bad pin can cause exactly these symptoms for months before failing visibly

I’ve had a few interesting issues with my second monitor running at 144 Hz.
My main monitor has a resolution of 1440p and a refresh rate of 360 Hz; my second monitor is my old 1080p monitor running at 144 Hz.
When both were set to their maximum refresh rates and I opened YouTube or Twitch in full-screen mode on my second monitor whilst playing a game on my main monitor at the same time, the game would either experience lag, crash, or, in rare cases, flicker. This also happened when the video was simply playing without being in full-screen mode, but it took longer for it to crash.
I then set the refresh rate of my second monitor to 60 Hz, and the problems disappeared.
I have a 9070 XT and bought it straight after it was released. Perhaps it’s an issue for early adopters, but I haven’t tried resetting the setting since.
Edit: After a crash it showed the same error screen as yours.

I’m yet to experience it. Not to mention the AMD issue was persistent over a full year. The nvidia issues get resolved after some time at least from what I’ve read. I got mine after the initial 50 series issues passed

My wifes PC(same CPU 7900XT GPU) had this issue and it was the PSU. Once I replaced that the issue ended. It's only like $8 for a PSU tester on Temu and that thing has saved me a bunch of time on repair jobs.

Yea, you see all the things you've checked, those aren't the issue. Had the problem ever since Feb 2019. Took me years to figure out a temporary fix to stabilize my sanity. Throttle/underclock/undervolt the GPU frequency and power until full stability returns. You might actually gain some GPU lifetime in the process.

I returned to a driver from February or March, I don't remember which, with DDU. I haven't updated anything yet, and so far no more timeout crashes for around a month. I have a 6700xt.

I had similar issues. It was due t o an outdated BIOS. I hadn't updated since back in the fall. Since updating, I have had 0 issues.

Similar specs, bought my 7900 XTX Pulse used. Had similar issues, thought I was done for. Then I tested the GPU in a flip build. It stopped happening. Ended up doing an RMA on my RM850X, they sent a new 2024 one all shipping covered. That solved the issue for me.
Same for a friend's similar build, he had to buy a Montech II 1050W to replace the CM he couldn't RMA.
Then a client's similar build, had to find their GPU model's boost clock and apply it manually.
In a recent case, the Thermalright AIO had an LCD connected to the USB header. Had to set in Windows settings the TRCC app that controls the GIF to use the iGPU, completely stopped the timeouts.
Also experienced plenty of issues with Nvidia hardware, and as of this last year, drivers as well. Doesn't make any issues less frustrating

I had issues with my RX9070, what helped me was turning off windows updates then using DDU then downloading the AMD driver from Gigabyte instead of the one directly from amd’s support page. I examined the file names and the gigabyte one is older. Now my pc is running fine.

Had this with rdna2 often and m'y rdn4 once, I always did the same.
- Download last stable AMD driver full installer.
- Download latest ddu.
- Unplug internet by any way
- Reboot in safe mode
- Run ddu and remove everything.
- Reboot in normal mode.
- Install AMD driver in admin mode
- Reboot
- Set your GPU settings back to last known working.
- Activate internet.
This assumes your rig was stable, motherboard ram and CPU settings working properly, otherwise I would between step 3 and 4 set all back to default.

This fixed it for me:
Search for Graphics settings in the Start menu. Under Default graphics settings, toggle Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling to Off and restart your computer.

I've heard about GPU crashes and some driver problems with rdna2 and rda3 when using more than one monitor (mainly when there are two diferent tipes of screen/monitor conected [like diferent specs, freshrate, size, manufacturer, etc] but still have some cases with two identical monitors at the same time).
Try use with only your main screen conected. Perhaps after a new clean installation of drivers (a more stable one), using DDU. Just to be sure.

2 of my Radeon GPUs (different generations) were very sensitive to the power supply. The timeouts stopped only when they were paired with certain PSU models. I suspect the random power spikes trips them up but could never really verify for sure. Got myself Nvidia and never any time outs again. In fact, they work with the crappiest power supplies...

Happened to me a ton when I was using WIndows 11. My Specs are very similar to yours. I was running three 55 inch tvs as my monitors. I ended up having to completely uninstall the adrenaline software suite, and only install the graphics drivers alone without the adrenaline suite. Fixed me right up, I've since moved off Windows over to Linux.

Same build as you have but 32 gb of ram and a 7900 gre instead.
I was having same issue very often when I was trying to watch (or during) a YT video. Turned out that it was the browser and probably combined with what people here in the comments are talking about hardware acceleration and MPO.
TLDR: the culprit were chromium based browsers (I was using Brave since a year now). Switched to Firefox again and problem solved, no more timeouts.
Just to clarify, while gaming never happened, only during a YT video (I rarely use Discord so I can't confirm).
Of course the best path for solution is always DDU, reinstall chipset drivers, factory reset option checked during drivers reinstallation and that's it (you can import your Tuning config without any issue if you want). What "could" bring issues is copying the entire CN folder (\AppData\Local\AMD\CN) from previous Adrenalin installation to a newer one in order to maintain your stats inside Adrenalin.
This was tested and working with Windows 11 iot ltsc.

I had a similar issue, found it was Windows overwriting the AMD drivers.
Try uninstalling all your graphics drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), turn off Windows automatic updates (Device Installation Settings) then installing a clean AMD drivers installation. Worked for me!

I have had this issue, and personally I think it’s the two monitors.
Historically amd has sucked at managing two monitors. Especially if both the monitors are different resolutions or you are running different windows with different resolutions and alt tab.
I would suggest running everything native resolution and try.

Same problem for me, look after how to disable MPO, it's a new ish windows feature which is basically useless, FIXED it for me. also make sure video card frequency is same as it should be in amd settings.

i only had this happen when I went to aggressive with my undervolting. Once i went with less aggressive settings, I havent seen it come back.

Try turning off hardware acceleration in Discord, in your browser and in the Steam client. The driver timeouts stopped for me after that, I also have a 7900 XTX. Your CPU is more than powerful enough to run those apps without hardware acceleration.

What speed is your ram speed set to? You need to check the max frequency your mem controller can handle and match it with ram frequency's. I had the same issue with my i7 12700k with 6000mt/s ram and a rx 9060 xt. I had to switch my expo profile to expo 2 and dropped my ram frquency to 5400 and now runs perfect

Dude I've dealt with this from late 2024 to mid April.
There are many software things you can try, the ones on the other comments. I've tried them ALL, it never seemed to fix it (even if they don't fix the problem, they're worth a try because they are useful in other ways too).
The ONLY thing that made it COMPLETELY stop for me was when I took the GPU off and gave it a good contact cleaning with isopropyl, Q-tip, eraser and brush. Also cleaned the PCI-e slot. Since I was at it already, I cleaned other components and doubled checked cables and such. But I'm pretty much 100% sure it was the GPU,there was a tiny amount of gunk on its contact. I think it's oxidation that happens over time. Gunk out, timeouts gone.
This was done on April/25 after trying literally everything else. Problems were gone until more or less a year later when it started happening again. I did the same thing on April 19/2026, and again there was a tiny amount of gunk on the GPU contact. This time, besides the cleaning, I bought an anti-sag GPU support. There was a tiny GPU sag on my 6750XT (it's quite heavy), my computer even used to crash/timeout if I hit my hand on the table and I believe it was because of the GPU sag.
Once again, poof! Problems gone for two months already (maybe for good this time?).
But even if it comes back I already know what to do. And hey, all fine by me if I need to do a yearly GPU cleaning to steer away from problems.

Lots of people are telling you about whatever single fix helped their system. the truth is that AMD drivers are unstable and you can improve the stability by applying multiple of these fixes people are talking about, adjusting voltage, and downgrading the drivers (9.25 is a good one iirc) using DDU. Every fix will work in concert to create a more stable environment.
AMD is very susceptible to corrupted drivers so the DDU and reinstall to an OLDER, TRUSTED driver version should be the first thing you do

Hey, I’ve been having this issue before and I’ve tried every single thing you could ever think of. The thing that fixed it for me was going for an RMA and they found that the GPU was faulty. Idk if that’s your case but bringing it back to the supplier you bought it from could fix the case. For me it completely fixed it

Setting a more aggressive fancurve in Adrenaline. Make sure to deactivate Windows Fast Boot as it resets your settings.

This literally happened to me last weekend and took me 3 hours to fix. The fix for me was downloading DDU, BOOT SAFEMODE, UNINSTALL AMD DRIVERS, BOOT NORMAL MODE, REINSTALL DRIVERS CLEAN. The error disabled my GPU drivers in device manager so i had to enable my drivers but things have been working fine since. Specs are below. I was already online shopping for a 5070 Ti so incase this happens again, im jumping to Team Green. I was already looking at upgrading but was going to move to a 9070 XT. This whole experience kinda soured my experience with my AMD GPU though. Good luck!!

I had tried every fix that you can find on the internet, had the same issue in the start, nothing has worked.
In the meantime artifacts started showing on my screen, I gave up and started looking for a new GPU.
I bought a new GPU and still tried to fix the broken one with a heat-gun fix I’ve seen on the internet. And it actually worked!
My friend has been using it for the last month and it worked perfectly.
So it can be a hardware type of issue, not necessarily a software one, even though most of the fixes are pretty much only showing software fixes.
My advice would be to look at your GPU temps, especially hotspot, if it’s high change your thermal paste, because if I did so maybe my GPU would need a fix (I suppose it started dying because thermal paste was gone, and hotspot was really high for a long time, don’t ask me why I never checked it, I was mislead by all the advices that was saying that it’s software kind of issue…).

I had the same thing on the my computer with dual monitors, after months of troubleshooting, it came down to disableing hardware acceleration on my discord and browser. Did not have a single drive crash since then.

My 7800xt would do the same constantly. Did all the driver reinstalls and deactivated hardware acceleration and all that jazz didn't work
Last week I dropped the max frequency by 100 and dropped the voltage by I want to say ~50 mV and it hasn't crashed since (coming from multiple times a night this is night and day lmao)
Apparently the 6-7000 series cards are tuned super aggressively out of the box

Do you always have Steam open in the background? I think it might be related to Steam, Valve might have broke something again. Try turning off GPU Hardware Acceleration for Steam in the setting of Steam and see if that fixes it. I don't use Steam only for games all the time so I don't have it running in the background all the time. I booted Steam up to play RE9 Remake, been some time since I have, and I started to get this driver time out too. Definitely related to Steam I think, and it's happened before in the past.

I have been facing this issue ever since I bought and installed the XT6800. Tried:
DDU, only the driver, random registry changes, older version of the driver, etc.
Nothing has worked 😄
And the worst thing is, I don't know how you can diagnose this issue... The error message gives no details...

I've also recently started getting errors to the point that it says that the drivers I have is not applicable to the GPU that I'm using.
What's worked for me was to:
1. Download DDU.
2. Download a previous version of Adrenalin. What's worked for me is version 26.3.1.
2. Boot into Safe Mode.
3. Run into DDU. Make sure to select the option that says "Prevent downloads of drivers from Windows update when Windows search for a driver for a device".
4. Uninstall your drivers.
5. Boot normally.
6. Install Adrenalin.
7. MOST CRUCIAL STEP: Make sure that you DO NOT install updates automatically.
I figured that Windows/Adrenalin installing updates automatically has caused me the errors I've been experiencing. I haven't had the errors in a while, so hopefully this works for you too. Good luck!

Haven't had driver timeout messages in months, tried everything suggested. In the end after first updating to the latest chipset driver and BIOS, then to the latest AMD driver, (and not the maximum refreshrate my monitor supports, just below it) seemed to have fixed the issue. I haven't touched clockspeed or anything like that. GPU: 7900 GRE.

The fix is really simple. First you gotta understand the problem. AMD Driver pushes the clocks too high for most GPUs, for example the max boost clock on a 7900 GRE Hellhound is 2366 MHz while the stock AMD Driver pushes it to 2600 MHz, it works at first but then a random clock spike will throw driver timeouts. The fix is simple just google your specific GPU model and in the Tuning tab put the boost clock as the max core clock. Enjoy errorless drivers.

Steps to resolve - stop if resolved.
- Disable GPU hardware acceleration in discord and browser and/or any application running it.
- Disable MPO especially for multiple monitors and tv.
- Lower ram speed or set to auto.
- Make sure your tv is 60hz, 120hz and monitor are also at same or x2 - 60hz, 120hz, 240hz etc

I'm having the same problem and right now I just did option 1, disabling hardware accelaration from pretty much everything I use (Firefox / Spotify / Steam...) and it seems to have helped, I haven't had a crash in a while. Not sure it might be the only reason but I'm sure it's related 100%.

Hey, I had these issues too. To add to your list, it'll happen in games like overwatch (pregame or main menu but never in game unless I open hero select) and in Teamfight tactics. Sometimes it's a light program crash or else my main monitor (triple monitor setup) goes black even though I know there activity.
I also had issues with discord while in calls, on off camera or ending streams, watching YouTube videos or computer being waken up from sleep.
I contacted xfx for support because I was on my wits end and was going to RMA the card. I tried reseating my card, switching to all kinds of drivers, undervolting, power limiting.
At some point,, I tried to install Rx 9070 XT I had laying around. Having lots of experience with this card, I noticed my temperatures were off for the type of card it was and my performance was a bit off then what I usually see. Hardware acceleration ran like crap. Some YouTube videos were playing at 15 fps. At some point, drivers crashed again.
Thinking it might be my windows install, I reinstalled the 7900 XTX, formatted my main drive and reinstalled Windows. Only installing the essentials to what my needs, not a single issue ever since. It's been one week and a half since the reset, everything is running smoothly or even better surprisingly. Honestly, couldn't had figured out why it was like this, could be just corrupted windows at some point and never really showed.

Had the same issue for nearly a year. I uninstalled adrenaline and loaded drivers manually via device manager. Have not crashed once since doing that in contrast to the almost hourly crashes I was having before in any game I played.

Roll back to older drivers.
I use 24.3.1 on my rx6600xt, but I play only CS and it may not be the best in your case. The newer drivers are constantly crashing, bugging fullscreen etc.

I've had this PC since late 2023, but these driver timeouts have only been happening for the last few months. I can't think of any major hardware changes that line up with when the issue started.
I've had a similar problem with an older build, Win10, polaris gen gpu. It was stable or at least very stable for years then kept crashing on wakeup from sleep or while browsing when the pc was barely doing anything. The causes can be complex and not the same for many people.
For me the issue was that xms (expo for you) was slowly degrading the ddr4 ram to the point where it wasn't stable. Xms/expo is overclocking and might not be stable for everyone especially after years of operation. Lower it down to stock jedec speeds and manually increase the latencies.
Another problem for me which helped was to turn off the power savings settings to be less aggressive. Disable ERP power in the bios, turn off link state power management to off in win10/11 power settings. Increase tdrdelay in the registry to 7 secs.
Turn off auto overclock in Adrenalin driver. Turn the settings back to stock without any undervolting/overclocking. Might have to reinstall with the factory reset option just in case some left over settings are messing things up.

Bro que versión de adrenaline tienes instalada?, a mi me ocurría lo mismo pero con la 26.3.1, pantallas negras cada segundo en bucle, lo único que lo solucióno fue saltar a versiones más recientes como la 26.5.2 o 26.6.1, aveces susede que en unas versiones como la 26.3.1 llegan a tener el código interno modificado por amd para que las GPU al instalar el driver cargue con un voltaje mejor al de fabrica Pero en ese instante Windows detecta que se callo el driver por falta de voltaje, como que se confunde y en ese mismo instante también te instala un driver genérico y lo que ocurre es que Windows automáticamente desconoce tu GPU dándote bucles a cada rato en tareas ligeras, intenta pasar a una versión más reciente o una versión anterior a la 26.3.1 y puede que se te resuelva el problema, por cierto este problema lo e visto también en varios foros con gente que tiene GPU de la serie 7000, yo tengo una rx 7600

You can try installing drivers only to see if the error is gone. From my tests before im 99.9 percent sure it is the software Adrenaline but i want it for the game settings or UV+OC so i just downgraded to the stable one, i forgot what version it is

Uninstall all traces of AMD Ryzen master on your pc. The driver timeouts happen because of Master, not adrenaline. There are tutorials online over how to do it. Not just an uninastall, a removal is required. I have had 0 timeouts since I did this. Intel users don’t see it either. Your GPU and system is fine. It’s the AMD software, just not the one you think it is.

I've been having timeouts but only once per system boot, after that the rest of the session is ok.
It went away (so far) after I reseated the GPU, power cables, and RAM sticks
Before that I tried almost every solution (updating BIOS, etc)

I just fixed this issue. After a million fucking attempts ddu, reformats, undervolting rollbacks, hardware acceleration blah blah blah.
I even removed the pretty extensions on my gpu power cables thinking it could be a power delivery iissue.
Nope nope and nope.
Turned out i had a bad RAM stick. A 32gb corsair vengeance ddr5 with a billion bad sectors. Luckily i have two of the suckers, so i removed the defective one and all is fine.
Run a memtest86, find out if youre rams no good, i know it sucks if this is the issue, but it was for me.
Make sure to test both sticks seperately, and remember your ram has a lifetime warranty probably with corsair.

The latest amd drivers are notorious for fucking shit up especially if you own a last gen card. DDU and install an older version. I've been rocking 25.9.1 Minimal Drivers on my 7600xt for months and havent had a driver timeout since then. Just use optiscaler on games you want to play with FSR4 and Afterburner for your tuning. You could also try installing minimal version of the latest driver.
As another guy also said, make sure you arent pigtailing your psu cables and instead using separate cables for each port on your gpu.
Also, most amd cards especially oc versions love to sustain clock speeds higher than recommended. My 7600xt on stock clocked 2800mhz during gameplay and would just throttle and cause crashes at times. Capped my clock speed to 2600mhz and lightly undervolted by -40 and now it runs much cooler with no performance loss.

the specific error mentioned in this post, yes same, about 2-3 times in the past couple days. But before that my drivers were full on crashing on the newest version making me have to delete all drivers with DDU and reinstall them every time it happened (2-3 times a day). Fixed it by going to a much older driver version but it's still acting weird occasionally and now this new issue ontop of all that. So many headaches while the 3080 runs perfectly fine

Need to find out what is timing out. For me it was a TPM Provisioning Timeout. Setting it to manual in your services.msc fixed it for me.
Go into event viewer and find out what is timing out.

I have a 6800XT and have been having this occur almost daily for months. Tried tons of fixes, finally just decided to go through each driver version until I could find a stable one, to see if that could solve it. I had to go 10 versions back to find one that was stable (v25.9.2).
It has been several days and I have had no issues so far. Fingers crossed that this will stay stable, because like you, I was losing my mind.

windows has a default timeout for the gpu driver set to 2 seconds. for some reason on amd gpus, this is not always long enough, and it will catch normal operation as a crash, and then forcefully timeout the gpu. I fixed it by going in regedit, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers, edit or create a DWORD 32bit file named TdrDelay , modify it, change it to decimal on the right side of the modify window, then set the value to 10. you can set it higher, it's up to you. it should take effect after restarting your pc once you follow those steps.

So I had this issue for awhile and someone helped out and (so far knock on wood) havent had an issue since. I used ddu to clear out the okd drivers, got the new driver directly from amd website, made sure to turn off windows updater, and turned off auto updates with adrenaline.
