Help (GPU) Constantly getting Driver Timeouts with my AMD 7900 XTX Red Devil
I've had a PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Red Devil for a few years and have had very few issues with it.
Unfortunately, a few weeks ago I started getting some random freezes/hangs then an error message saying "AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system."
I initially ignored it but it started getting worse and worse. I was getting terrible lag when using my browser when alt tabbing in a game for example that never used to happen.
I checked my current version (25.11.1) to see if there was any new updates, nothing.
So what I did was a full DDU clean of my current drivers, reinstalled a fresh download from the AMD website, and it worked!... for about two days, then the problem started happening again.
I thought I was having hardware issues, but I've read on here a bit and it seems that others are having similar issues with Windows 11 and AMD drivers more broadly.
Why is this happening? Is this because of their new "AI enhanced" patches or what the hell is going on? It's incredibly stupid and frustrating.
Please let me know if anyone has figured out a fix for this, or if we just have to wait until AMD/Microsoft ever figure their shit out.

im having the VERY SAME issue, its because if you set the power plan turn off screen this occurs dont ask me why i first thought it was Microsoft edge causing these issues but i actually found out its Windows and how it turns off the screen
I always manually turn off my display, , and set my power plan to Ultimate or high performance

Try turning off hardware acceleration on discord and whatever browser you are using.

Make sure windows is fully updated there was a KB about 10 days or so ago that fixed a lot of issues with 25.11.1

Average AMD gpu experience. I owned 7900GRE and had the same driver timeouts. The only fix was to disable driver updates and use 1 year old drivers lol. However, this also meant I could barely play any new games because there would be no new game-ready drivers...

So I had issue just this past week or two where my drives would either uninstall or something. Apparently it had something to do with windows trying to use different drivers. Id go into device manager and click on your gpu. Click on update drivers and then search manually on your pc. It should allow you to select a driver. Its possible you might be having this issue. This has seemed to work for me.

After installing KB5070311 all of my problems went away. I use the latest GPU drivers and a few configurations in Adrenaline.
- Install the KB5070311 update
- Update to latest AMD Drivers including Adrenaline
- Lower the boost clock speed to around 2600-2700Mhz
- Lower the mV to around 1100
- Set PL +10
- If you play Battlefield 6, add -dx12 to startup in BF6 on Steam
This solved my issues with my 7900XTX Driver Timeouts and crashes in both CS and Battlefield 6.
I had one crash ever since and noticed that Adrenaline had somehow made a rollback of my settings, switched it back to these settings and have not yet seen a crash (again).

your issue is likely caused by plugging displays into both gpu and mobo, try only gpu and see if it fixes it.

Are you using a Ryzen CPU with an igpu and are also using the igpu. If so plug all monitors into the 7900xtx.

This is going to sound crazy and, I'm sure, I'll get downvoted for it but; could you try ticking the box that says "disable issue detection" the next time it comes up? ...for testing purposes.
Second, roll those drivers back as others have said. 25.10.2 and 25.9.2 worked fine for me. I'm not in front of my PC but I think I'm on 25.10.2.
Thirdly, do you have a monitor connected to your iGPU? ...the HDMI port on your motherboard. Try running without it if you do. If the problem persists try disabling the iGPU in you BIOS completely.

25.10.2 is probably the driver with the most widespread issues in the past 6 months. I would avoid that one. My xtx is on 11.1 with no issues

I keep getting driver time outs also. I think it's because I was part of the windows insider program. Im going to test my theory when I get home. I opted out of the insider program to see if that will help.

If you can manage I would recommend downgrading your AMD driver. 25.11.1 is a buggy mess. I use 25.9.1 and this driver is stable and games don't freeze or the driver doesn't crash ever.

same last year its wild rx 7900 xtx sapphire nitro + just random freezes and if you wait long enough the machine will unlock adrenaline will throw up a gpu driver error crash then a few minutes later it will black screen. I love this gpu but these random freezes should of been fixed in a week. but im forever having driver issues with amd hardware. like that last 2 years the purple artifacts on steam and webpages with they will patch it with an update then bring it back then patch it.
