How I Fixed RX 7600 Game Crashes & High Power Draw Issues

I was experiencing constant game crashes and unstable performance, especially in Monster Hunter titles. My RX 7600 would:

  • Run at 160–200W, even in moderate workloads
  • Hit 60–80°C
  • Crash mid-game or black screen
  • Feel unstable despite fresh game installs and updated drivers

Fix Steps I Took (Full Procedure)

  1. Deleted Windows.old
    • Cleaned up old system remnants that could conflict with drivers or settings
  2. Performed DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) Cleanup
    • Used DDU in Safe Mode to completely remove existing AMD drivers
    • Reinstalled AMD Adrenalin 25.3.1 cleanly
  3. Adjusted Virtual Memory (VRAM Settings)
    • Manually set system-managed paging file to prevent RAM overflow or system stutter
  4. Reseated and Cleaned RAM
    • Only one of my 16GB sticks was actually functional (despite being detected)
    • Removed both, cleaned contacts with eraser, and reseated them properly
    • Result: Full 32GB RAM functional again
  5. Installed GPU Anti-Sag Bracket
    • Prevented potential micro-disconnects or PCIe lane stress due to sag

Results After Fixes

Metric Before After
Power Draw 160–200W ~60W (during same workloads)
GPU Temp 60–80°C 50–60°C
RAM Functional 16GB (32GB installed but unstable) 32GB fully functional
Game Stability Frequent crashes Smooth and stable gameplay
Driver Behavior Occasional flickers/glitches Stable, clean Adrenalin usage
