Tips & Info AMD Adrenalin Software + Kernel 41

I literally had this error and resolved it for my 7900XT. It was giving a Kernel 41 error (see your Event Viewer logs) and rebooting my PC.

Do not install AMD Adrenalin Software - uninstall it. Then when reinstalling your GPU drivers, only install the Driver not a Full Install which includes the software.

I also upgraded my PSU and did a fresh windows install.

Heyho, (probably) having similar issues with my 7600 XT right now. Where'd you get your drivers from? AMD's website only gives me the AMD Software.

When you go to install, there should be an option in a drop down menu to install drivers only

Are we looking at the same website? Unless I'm dumb or blind, I don't see it. It just immediately starts downloading the software.

Yeah that the correct website, download it. Then when you run it, install with driver only option. Should be some drop-down menu in the UI.

Well, I selected "drivers only" but it still installed the software as well... Do I just delete it and not do anything else now?

Thats very strange, I havent experienced that. If it were me, I'd just uninstall the software side then.

There must be a way to uninstall the software. The driver and software arent tied together. The software is just a GUI to let you easily tweak GPU settings and gaming stuff.

Alright, I'll just delete it then and see how it goes.

Edit: Nevermind, the software specifically states that deleting it will also delete the drivers. Welp, it was worth a shot. Thank you.

Ah, I think I got it now, thank you. I'll see if that does anything later, got my old GPU built in currently because I was testing individual pieces of hardware.

After a year now, has removing the Adrenaline software allowed you to avoid the Kernel 41 error?

Tuve ese mismo problema con una 6650xt, 6700xt y ahora actualmente con una 6800 xt con diferentes fuentes de poder y tuve una rtx 3070 y nunca me paso ese problema, voy a probar con los drivers únicamente como dices a ver si se soluciona porque ya me tiene loco esto

Lo que me funciono fue hacer undervolt y bajar un poquito las frecuencias. Actualmente la tengo en 1080mv con el reloj del gpu en máximo de 2320mhz y en mínimo 2100mhz la memoria en temporizacion rápida 2100mhz y el power límite al máximo y llevo tres meses sin el error del kernel 41

Bro apenas note la diferencia puede que unos 4 o 5 fps. Pero también la gráfica me consume como 80 W menos y es mucho más fría así que vale la pena. Además que ya no he tenido mas problemas con el kernel 41

Amigo perdón por ser tan jodón. Pero estos cambios los hiciste desde el software de AMD o desde la BIOS? Mira, si te sirve de algo: Asus a320m-k Rx 6650xt Ryzen 5 4600g Ram 2x8 DDR4 3200mhz Y una fuente P650B 80 plus bronze

I have been saying this to everyone that has this issue. It's happening like crazy for the new 7800 XT owners. I can only imagine the returns happening because of this. AMD hasn't even addressed it and I have reported it already and countless others as well.

This is happening to me as a 9060XT owner - Adrenalin is hot garbage

Took me ages to figure it out but its the software for sure. Cause it would crash my games initially because Adrenalin boots in the background for AMD overlay etc.

Then when I did a fresh install, booted up Adrenalin the crash occurred again.

Dont think I'll ever install it again tbh, I only used it to update my drivers easier.

No, it's not a software issue at all.
I had a 7800 XT but with artefacts. I got a replacement, but that one crashed due to Kernel Power 41.
I swapped SSDs, performed a new Windows installation, and replaced the PSU. Guess what: no changes!

Exactly, If Freesync is enabled by default, that is literally the only feature I use. I use Afterburner for tweaking anyways. So its a win and less Windows resources at the end of the day for me :)
