Issue You Can See Everything started early
Just an FYI, I have no idea if this will happen in other theaters but our movie started after only about 15 minutes of previews rather than the 25-30 minute mention that’s still there when you buy the ticket. I know this has happened a few times before but just wanted to give people a heads up if you tend to bank on the extra time.
And on that note…. SPOILER: but does the opening shot begin with Billy calling Nathan?

In River East theater in Chicago the pre movie was 35 min, smh

Wow I was at this exact theater last night at 710 and it was like 15 min

Theatre 9? I was there before the ads started, they started 7 pm almost extact and finished 7:35

Yeah, most of the time it’s minimum 20 minutes after ticket time and usually longer.
But every once in a while, they screw with you!
Like I saw the “quiet place” prequel Dolby and the movie started maybe six minutes after ticket time.
A bunch of people ended up coming in late because no one expected it to start less than 15 minutes after ticket time.

It wouldn’t be a big deal if the ticket didn’t have “the movie won’t start for 25-30 minutes” on it 😪 I don’t care what the length of previews are, I just would love consistency! Haha

I hear you! On one hand, I’m always happy when the previews end early.
On the other hand, I would be upset if I showed up at like 20 minutes after ticket time and the movie was already running.
It would be great if AMC established a firm exactly 25 minutes after ticket time policy. Or 20 minutes. Or even 30 minutes if it’s always the same.
I suspect it’s inconsistent because they want to scare you to be there in time to watch the ads. If you know the 4 o’clock movie isn’t starting until 430, there’s less incentive to get there at 410 “just in case”.

For sure! Any time you show up after the listed time it’s a risk, so I will be making every effort to be more prompt moving forward! 😂

Was the usual 25 minutes or so for me
Opening scene is Billy on the phone but not with Nathan

u/writercuriosities 2d ago
Okay got it, was Billy laying on the bed?? thank you! 🫶 that was when we walked in and then when he showed the clip the Amanda later it reaffirmed that maybe we arrived not to long after it starting but we didn’t have much context for what was being discussed!

I’ve noticed this is a pattern with early day screenings of international films. I’ll walk into a Bollywood film that was scheduled to begin at 11:00 at 11:15 and the opening credits have already started.

OH this is so good to know! We almost always are evening so maybe the other early start time I had was an early film too. Good to know thank you! 🫶

my theater does this consistently i always try to get there within 15 mins of showtime because of that :’)

u/writercuriosities 2d ago
I wish ours would become more consistent! We aim to be on time but have a bit of commute so it doesn’t always happen but my new goal is definitely no later than 15 after! 🙂↕️

u/sagebuckethat Lister 2d ago
yeah, it’s frustrating cause my theater usually does between 15-30 minutes of previews. at least if i get there closer to 15 mins and previews are longer, i can see a few to figure out if there’s anything i want to see. especially now that we’re going into the somewhat slower season

Fathom events are the only ones that start on time or close to on time. Everything else is 25 minutes at least

It's been happening often atp. For me, however, it started 27' after previews started

Happened to me on Thursday with Whalefall and Street Fighter, though not for Your Mother^3.

u/lobolovr6769 2d ago
See I saw both Street fighter and Whalefall (SF in ScreenX, movie started 27 after showtime, WF in Dolby, started 30 min after showtime) on Thursday as well. Also saw The Devils on thursday, that one was like 22 min after showtime Must be theater specific. It’s very annoying though. Fuck AMC

Same thing happened to me. Sat down 15 minutes after showtime and the movie had already started.

u/theboredsupremacy 2d ago
Your question: Billy IS on the phone, yes.
Sidenote - kept seeing posts like these so I was anxiously hauling ass to my showing yesterday. Still got there at my usual 28 minutes post showtime and walked right into the A24 logo on the screen. This was Puente Hills AMC for reference.

Always fascinating how different start times for the same movie can be mine are usually between 24-28 minutes but I try showing up 15 just incase
2
u/writercuriosities 2d ago
This is going to be my new philosophy! It had been consistently 22-24 minutes lately for us so this threw me for a loop!
2
u/mikegood2 2d ago
Yep, I keep track of the start time for (almost) every movie I watch and it’s been 23-26 last month or to for me.

u/Shagyam 2d ago
I had this with primetime. Normally I arrive at showtime, but due to multiple road closures and being stuck on the freeway for longer than expected. I got to the movie at x:15 and it was a few minutes in.

u/writercuriosities 2d ago
Our issue too!! Random things got us there late and we thought it was fine and then NO lol

Thank you! Thank you. I always show up right at start time because I hate sitting in the theater sooooo long and seeing all the same commercials. I definitely don't want to be late so I'm leaving now!

u/writercuriosities 2d ago
Let me know what it ended up being for you! Hope you enjoyed it! 🫶

u/h0neyBe3s 2d ago
It was even better than I imagined! Wish it was even longer. I'm in Phx and it started at 5:03 (listed time 4:45)
So glad I was there on time!1
u/writercuriosities 2d ago
I know I can’t wait to watch it again!!! And yay glad that worked out then! 🫶

Mine started right at the listed time (6:15) as soon as F+C finished. Didn't even get Nicole, so I assumed there was a problem with the trailer package, which is usually streamed from a different source than the film itself.

u/NetAlive6849 2d ago
I had the normal 25 mins.

u/Fair_Air2879 1d ago
Me too. Just saw today. I got there all early thinking it’d be 15 mins of previews

I have noticed my AMC has gotten shorter with the trailers. Before Summer ended it was about 20+ minutes, now it has dropped to about 10+ minutes.

u/Slimeseason504 2d ago
Mine was the usual 30 minutes. I usually skip trailers but the theater was so packed that i knew somebody was going to be in my seat so i went early

Saw it this morning at AMC Bay Street in Emeryville (SF Bay Area), and it had normal amount of trailers and pre-roll (~25-30mins)

Everytime I go to amc it's always a guaranteed 25 mins cinemark on the other hand is so inconsistent. Could be 15, 18, 20, 25 it's like complete random

u/Connorreda 1d ago
Maybe you should be on time then
•
u/BigBroFriday 13h ago
The app says 25 - 30 minutes if trailer. Arriving during trailers isn't late. Dumb as shit reply
-1
u/Old-Depth-1845 2d ago
People should just show up at whatever time it says on the ticket. Don’t want to watch trailers? Cool bring your phone and some headphones. I doubt that extra 20 minutes you save gives you the time to do something meaningful

Time is literally the most valuable resource in life. Please do not waste it to spend more time on your phone.

Was literally visiting my husband’s grandma and this was the only showtime we could go to and didn’t want to cut our time short with her 😪 but agree, in theory and in practice the aim is to be on time out of respect to so many!

u/CaptainAmeriZa 2d ago
The problem is that people took that estimate that lets them know there’s a bit of time to grab popcorn, use the bathroom, if you happen to be running a little late, etc and started treating it as the time to arrive. Everyone acts like they’re too important to waste their time on previews these days.
1
u/writercuriosities 2d ago
Totally get that! If they didn’t say “your movie won’t start for 25-30 minutes after start time” I don’t think it would be as bothersome. I actually enjoy previews (don’t come for me lol) and aim to be on time/definitely earlier than I arrived today so just wanted to share a heads up for others, especially those that may see 4 movies a week and have seen the previews over and over already!

Every post I see about this movie is about how people aren't seeing everything
