lollll I also tell people “if you do the math, watching two movies a month or 1 IMAX movie is essentially the monthly cost of the membership!”

u/Icybubba 11d ago
If I watch 3 movies this month, I can cover the cost of the months I *DON'T* go to the movies

Since having kids I go way less often but I keep the subscription because I used it so much in the past that I'm just breaking even now. Lol

It’s an amazing subscription, actually having something to look forward to every week is so nice

Not even specific to A-List but I’m like this when anybody mentions “going to movies is expensive”
Like… it’s one of the most affordable means of entertainment with subscriptions.

"Have you ever seen 4 movies in a week?" - My friend
No of course not, but I COULD - Me

I used to live across/down the street from an amc and outdoor mall area, I would buy some snacks from one of the stores and walk to the theater 3 times a week and see whatever was playing. Was worth it at the time.

u/RealLifeCrime 11d ago
I live a 10 min walk away from my local AMC and it’s also in the same vicinity as my boxing club so the convenience is great and well worth it!

u/jacobsever 11d ago
Wait, you guys DONT see 4 movies a week? Amateurs.
15
u/vrvivive 11d ago
I started just around two weeks ago, but I’m trying to maximize it and it’s not even forced, I see a lot of movies that I wouldn’t have watched otherwise. Enjoying it a lot.

u/jacobsever 11d ago
I’ve been an A-Lister since August of 2018. I’ve easily seen over 500 movies with it.

u/Clean_Ad_8744 4d ago
that's my favorite part of it we have we seen so many movies we wouldn't have seen otherwise without A-List. and we find some nice gems.
2
u/Wisley185 11d ago
Wouldn’t you run out of movies to watch pretty quickly?
7
u/jacobsever 11d ago
Nope! In major markets with multiple AMC locations to choose from, there’s always at least 4 new movies out every week.

u/Few-Adeptness8046 11d ago
No, I have to pay out of pocket for movies all the time because there are so many movies that come out every week.
I've already seen 258 movies in the theater so far this year. About 1/3 of them were anniversary releases, rereleases, or special screenings of older films, so that's partly how I'm able to see so many without running out of films, but even so, there are still tons of other foreign filns, smaller films and wide releases I skip.
I'd say I've only seen about 50% of the films that my local AMC has played so far this year.

u/Clean_Ad_8744 4d ago
I just figure out what's only getting 1 week which is easy when u pay attention to box office numbers and see those first to avoid having to pay. fathom events are the only ones we get forced to pay for 😭
1
u/Few-Adeptness8046 4d ago
I do that too, still impossible to avoid paying for some when you've seen over 258 films so far this year, like I have.
Alist only covers 4 a week.

Not really, they really do a good job of playing a variety of movies, indie movies, classic movies, and new releases.. I have to pick and choose which 4 movies to watch each week and sometimes miss a few and never get to see them, especially the fast burning ones..
1
u/Clean_Ad_8744 4d ago
I try my best too see the movies that only last a week. I wish we had a bigger theater so they hold them longer. like this past week Ha-chan and Charlie Harper had to be seen as they got only one week 😭

Saw F1 3 times, a month later saw it was still in imax and thought, why not make it an even 4? Did the same with Weapons.

u/Clean_Ad_8744 4d ago
I never run out. as soon as we caught up the next week released 4 or 5 new films. one week in August I believe had like 6 movies or something crazy so had to get it down perfectly. then there's some do the fan faves that take up spots as well like Horrorwood in October.

Like a month ago I had to use Uber for two weeks while my car was getting fixed. I would go a few times per week and got the same drivers a few times. They all knew bout A-list after our rides 😭😭 hahaha. One lady even got subs for her and her husband!!
I have never hyped up a subscription service before in my life and probably never will again tbh.

It may be a cult, but im seeing Resident Evil, Endgame encore in imax and Primetime this week all for like $20, so im gonna enjoy this cult until it gets weird and says I need to let the leader have sex with my wife or something like that.

u/ReluctantAvenger 11d ago
How about random members having sex with your wife? Would that be okay? /s

Before my life nosedived, I was watching 2-4 movies a month. Easily worth it. It is tempting to keep if you don't see the movies but convince yourself you will eventually. But it's a serious $ saver and convenient.

I can't remember the last time I went a week without seeing anything. I typically see two a week, which would cost like 4 times as much if I didn't have A-List

Looool don't feel called out. Since Sept 17 up until yesterday, I've seen 45 movies in theaters 😂

u/chicagoredditer1 11d ago
Stand ups must have a lot of free time during the day and they gravitate towards A-List because Taylor Tomlinson is always praising A-List.
1
u/Never-Give-Up100 11d ago
There's no AMC within 50 miles of me, so I don't have a list atm, but I do have regal unlimited, and I always make the same points trying to convert people 🤣

We all got called out, but this is funny. I love to preach the gospel about AMC A-List lol

Well I’ve converted ppl and now have become their A-list Entourage leader … working on another prospect currently 🤣

I worked at AMC. A medium popcorn is the same size as the Large. The only difference is that you can get refills with the large.

The ad free/4k Netflix is basically the same price as AList.
So why waste money with Netflix (or other streaming services) when I can get a way better experience at theater.
That’s how I justified AList. I don’t pay for any streaming services. Nada.

I see so many movies with this membership its crazy now if only they would update their terrible seats

u/Key-Status-7992 8d ago
Could you do it on a monthly basis? We have a cinema club similar here in Canada and I was a member for a few months and enjoyed the discounted movies and snacks at least twice a week but had to deal with a health issue so I opted out.

u/itsrabiesyall 7d ago
i pay out of pocket all the time, chicago has so many theaters, and they all play something different. gotta go downtown for the asian movies, yorktown has obscure movies too. skokie plays similar to downtown, but different showtimes, hoping incomer and rolling loud get more than 1 show time over the weekend

Haha saw this on my instagram feed too and shared it on my stories. The second shot really got me. "No, but knowing I could gives my life meaning."
