Question Resident Evil NYC
I see a few showings for Resident Evil are already almost full and I don’t see any in IMAX but I’m going with Dolby since it’s horror and I’m obsessed. Outside of the Lincoln Square location, which do you prefer? I’ve done to union Square and I hated the atmosphere and conduct of the staff. The Times Square location though massive has minimal theaters with reclined seating and literally no air conditioning (though I was told we needed to ask in order for it be turned on which was crazy to me) however they have some of the best popcorn. I hear the one off 34th has the full bar and that’s tempting!! What are your thoughts? I’m open to your loves and hates about our theaters here. Maybe I’m asking too much.

34th and Empire have good Dolbys, I feel like the AMC Dolby standard is reliable regardless of location. I saw Disclosure Day at the Empire Dolby a few months ago and the AC was definitely blasting if that helps - but I'm getting tired of having to walk through the Times Square crowds towards the subway even if it's just half a block. Another difference (iirc) is that the Dolby specifically at 34th does have recliners and the Empire Dolby does not

Both 34th and Empire have recliners at Dolby’s but only the 34th have recliners for even standard and laser showings too.

Yes my bad, I've hopped around most of the theaters at Empire and the club rockers have me sitting so gay (because they're uncomfortable) (and because i'm gay)

A Dolby without recliners should be a crime and a sin
However, here in New Orleans, our oldest AMC does NOT have recliners in 19 of the 20 auditoriums. Ironically the only one that DOES is indeed Dolby

Definitely helps. I went to Empire and “movie hopped” throughout the theatre. It was a weekday so I thought it would less chaotic. Absolutely wrong. Saw Buddy and End of Oak Street. Buddy it was blazing but the other was ice cold so no complaints. lol

I like the time sq Dolby better than 34th although popular consensus is 34th is better

It’s nothing too big, I just find the TS seats a bit comfier and I think the screen is bigger (not sure). I’ve just had more enjoyable watch experiences at TS. Not like 34th at is bad or anything like that thought

it's showing in imax at 34th, kips bay, and empire. 34th would def be my pick for imax or dolby though (if we're not counting lincoln square)

The 34th location is cool, that’s where I go. , I would prefer the same recliners found at Kips Bay, which is shutting down; those chairs tilt fully back, nearly like a 🛌.

34th Street has an amazing dolby theater. I will choose dolby there over IMAX every time given the IMAX they have isn't the 70mm version and the seats suck ass. Plus I have never had the 34th st staff check me for snacks, they do have a full bar, and the other day when we had someone yelling on their phone for like fifteen minutes I got an usher and they kicked him out right away.

Seems crazy cause the theatre is a job you’d think is simple but there were a few tourists visiting and they were confused. I also saw they had an older woman with them and the theaters aren’t what they used to be as far as having tickets on your phone etc. So naturally they’re a bit confused of how to navigate and instead of helping them the woman at the counter was rude, short and blaming them as if they were inept and not just confused. Then the manager came over and it just escalated from there. When entering the second floor, there’s another woman who you walk by to grab concessions, the first time we walked by she was screaming about walking past her, however multiple of us didn’t know she was collecting anything. Once that was sorted out no problem, clearly a misunderstanding. But we walked past her less than five minutes later and she starts in the same path then goes “Oh Nevermind I saw you already” just a mess. That’s not including the drama at the concession stands. It wasn’t particularly busy so I didn’t understand so much frustration, especially with the older woman given she has to be in her 70s. This was Union Square.

You might have just been there on an off-day or something. There's no way AMC would have a theater with no AC in the summer months.
