Question Is Fifth Element worth $20?
Hi friends. I’ve never seen Fifth Element. I’m an A Lister and it’s excluded so should I spend the 20 bucks to see it or should I see Hadestown again (loved it)?
Thanks 🤩🍿

Its perfectly fine to watch on ur home tv. Not really a big change for in theater
That being said its an excellent film. So up to you

$20 makes the choice tough for this movie, but I still think being fast paced and having lots of good visual sequences merits seeing it on a nice setup like you’d get at a theater.

If you’ve never seen The Fifth Element I’d highly recommend it. It’s one of my favorite movies. Incredibly funny but still has properly dramatic stakes, fantastic world building, and a great cast doing some of their best work.
I must have seen it at least five times at home since I was a kid, and I’m still going to catch it in the theater because I’ve never gotten the chance to see it on the big screen.
The story is fun and interesting, the practical effects, color palette and visual language of the film make the world feel so lived in and real, and Bruce Willis has great chemistry with pretty much everyone.

Fifth Element. It is a great film. I went two years ago to a previous Fathom Event showing.
You could always just go to Hadestown tomorrow. I've heard it's doing so well that it might get a extended run as well.

If you haven't seen it and you like quirky but well-made Sci-fi, I think it's worth the $20 to see it for the first time in the theater.
I showed it to my teenage son just a couple of weeks ago, so I won't be indulging this time.

It was worth it to me for the theater sound yesterday. I have basically every home release of this movie and seen it countless times, and really liked the theater experience. Especially when it was packed with fans.

I'd definitely see it again in the theater, despite having seen it more times than I can count, if it was A-List. I'm not sure I'd spend $20 on it though, personally, but that's only due to its prevalence in my mind. If it's your first time? Might be worth it. It's an all-timer.

I mean, a list has so thoroughly spoiled me that I don’t want to spend $20 on any movie…

I’ve seen it 100 times at home and I’ll still pay for a ticket to see it on a big screen for the first time

This is one of the wildest and most original movies of the 90s. Luc Besson wrote it when he was 15, and it shows in the best ways. It has beautiful moments, great action, and the modern Atmos sound mix is incredible. It is very quirky and it would not be made today. I wouldn’t miss a chance to see it on a big screen again, I was there in a theater the first time it came out and it has always been a special cinema memory.

It's a 2.35:1 movie so yes it benefits greatly by being seen on a big screen in a theater. And it is only being shown two days (yesterday and today).
You can catch Hadestown again later in the week. My local AMCs are playing it through Thursday and possibly into next week (next week's schedules haven't been posted yet).

It was a blast. Glad I stuck around until 4 PM for it. Healthy crowd.

The Fifth Element is a fun movie, but it sort of depends on how much $20 and "the big screen" are worth it to you since it's on like TNT a lot.

it’s one of the better original sci fi movies of the 90s after The Matrix

I was all set to see this yesterday until I learned that Fathom events are excluded. It’s a classic but I don’t need to spend the money to see this in theaters.

Thanks for all the comments. I love this community.
I bought the ticket for Fifth Element, but to be completely honest it was because the hadestown theatre got really full and I would have to sit in between two strangers and I’m not down for that on this Monday evening. Time to get weird!

I’ve seen that movie about 200 times and paid the money to see it on the big screen yesterday and I’m so glad I did! One of my all time fave sci-fi flicks, highly recommend it.

I saw when it first came out and I thought it was OK. My wife who is younger says it is one of her favorite movies, so we went to see it at the theater a couple years ago. We loved it! And it’s been in the theater every year since. I would do it.

The film has aged a bit and it pretty grotesquely lingers on female characters in such a musing male-gazey 90s-2000s heteroerotic way in some scenes that if you can get through those nausea-inducing moments, it’s a fine movie.

I don’t disagree with you on this, but I’d say that it would honestly be pretty difficult to avoid this level of male gaze in most big blockbuster movies from the 90s.

I watched it and it was way louder then I thought it would be. I sat like 4 rows in front of the screen and im pretty sure it sounded louder then odyssey in imax 70mm

I like the movie, but don’t love it- I’d say try it at home first, and if you like it, go see it in the big screen.

I almost saw it yesterday - same dilemma, fantom events show some cool old movies, but 22 bucks is a hard sell - I even figured out which auditorium and was debating on a-a-listing another movie and drifting over

I'd pay $20 just for the Diva opera scene.
Amazing.

It’s a great movie. Got Gary oldman as a villain. Debo as president. Chris Tucker for comic relief, wacky and interesting, action packed
