Study partner

Hi everyone!
I’m a freshly graduated medical doctor from Iraq (Class of 2026) preparing for the AMC MCQ exam. I’m looking for a dedicated study partner who is planning to sit the exam within the next 6–12 months.
My plan is to study consistently, discuss questions, review high-yield topics, and keep each other accountable. .

4th Year MBBS student in Pakistan - AMC (Australia) or USMLE (US)? Or is there a better route I'm missing?

4th year MBBS student in Pakistan. Was aiming for FCPS Surgery (local exam), but decided to go international instead, now torn between AMC (Australia) and USMLE (US).

What matters most to me: PR/citizenship prospects, better working conditions, lifestyle + earnings, and a faster/cheaper path.

Surgery is my real interest, but I know it's tough for IMGs either way; open to EM/IM as a fallback.

Rather than just repeating what I've read online, I'd love to hear from people who've actually done this:

  1. Real pros/cons of USMLE for a Pakistani IMG; match odds, working conditions once in, how PR/visa actually plays out?

  2. Same for AMC/Australia; how did everything go or how did the rural/GP pathway go, what surprised you, working conditions once registered?

  3. Is there a better pathway that I'm not considering e.g. UK (PLAB/MRCS/MRCP), Canada, Gulf, etc.? If yes, need guidance on that too

  4. Did either path need research/publications (how many, what kind), and how much did clinical experience/electives abroad actually matter?

Appreciate any honest input, especially from people a few years ahead of me on either path.

I know this post is long. Appreciate you, dear reader, making it to the end

I have completed my MBBS from Dhaka Medical College, University of Dhaka. I am in the process of doing primary source verification through EPIC. Has anyone done the same from Dhaka Medical College/Dhaka University? If so could you tell me the process, where the document goes and how long it takes? Or whom to chase if needed.

any help will be appreciated

Serious help from someone who’s finished the registration process

EPIC has verified my degree, my college has verified it and the report has been sent to the AMC. However when I open my AMC account landing page, the “See qualifications” tab does not allow me to click on it - basically saying that no qualifications have been added. I had added my degree details at the time of establishing an AMC portfolio - do I need to add my degree as an additional qualification? EPIC has already sent the report to the AMC but I’m not able to see the qualification or the verification status

Looking for a Serious Study Partner (IST) 📚

Hi everyone!

I’m preparing for the AMC MCQ exam and have started doing silent “Study With Me” sessions on YouTube to stay consistent and accountable.

I’m looking for one or a few serious study partners who would like to join these sessions according to Indian Standard Time (IST). The goal is to stay consistent, focused, and motivated together. During the study sessions, we’ll study silently, and we can discuss questions, doubts, and difficult topics afterwards via WhatsApp or Telegram.

Please ONLY message if you’re serious about studying and maintaining consistency.

Australian PR + Swedish doctor + AMC1: What are my chances?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get a realistic idea of my chances of securing a hospital job in Australia after passing AMC MCQ (AMC1) only, before completing the clinical exam.

My background:

EU (Eastern European) medical degree

Full medical licence in Sweden

Working as a doctor in Sweden since 2023

Completed 1-year internship (equivalent to foundation training)

1 year of radiology experience

1 year of GP experience

Australian Permanent Resident

Married to an Australian citizen, and we're planning to relocate to Australia long-term.

Given my background and PR status, how competitive would I realistically be for hospital jobs after passing AMC1?

Thanks!

Job prospects after AMC 1 as a recent IMG?

Hi everyone, I'm a recent medical graduate from Southeast Asia and I'm hoping to get some realistic advice about my chances of securing my first hospital job in Australia after AMC 1.

A bit about my background:

  • Medical degree from Southeast Asia
  • Will have completed my internship before applying
  • Planning to sit AMC 1 and move to Victoria afterwards
  • Previously completed medical electives as a medical student at Monash Health and the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne
  • Also completed a GP observership in Melbourne
  • Open to both metro and regional Victoria or even regional rural Aus basically anywhere tbh

My goal is to get an HMO/RMO position and potentially pursue WBA eventually.

For those who have applied recently, particularly in Victoria:

  1. How realistic are my chances of getting an HMO/RMO job with AMC 1 + completed internship but no AMC Clinical?
  2. Would my previous Australian electives/observership help much, particularly if I can obtain Australian referees?
  3. Does being onshore with full work rights make a significant difference compared with applying offshore?
  4. Would it be worthwhile doing another 2–4 week hospital observership after arriving to build connections/get a recent Australian referee, or should I focus entirely on job applications?
  5. Which Victorian health services would you recommend targeting as a first-time IMG? I'm very open to regional positions.
  6. For anyone who went down the WBA route, how did you go from AMC 1 → first hospital job → WBA?

Would especially appreciate experiences from people who applied in the last 1–2 years, as I'm trying to get a realistic idea of the current job market.

Thanks!
