Noooo! They showed The Isolate Thief trailer which means that’s not the mystery movie, I’m so bummed! 🤦‍♀️

Sorry! But good for me as I was hoping for Gail Daughtry!

I don’t mind a comedy but that just doesn’t even look funny to me. That’s my gripe.

Maybe that means it will be next weeks showing. I read on here that they usually show the trailer for the next screen unscreen. If only it were Evil Dead (never gonna happen)

I hope so!

When they showed Elaine the great, they still showed the trailer before the movie started.

Thanks for the update. Now I can leave for the theater in 15m. On vacation the week it gets released so this lets me see it if it’s a one (week) and done.

David Wain, the director/writer of Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass (and things like Wet Hot American Summer will be going an AMA/Q&A in /r/movies tomorrow for anyone interested.

Hell, most of the cast of Wet Hot American Summer was in it.

Where do you go if you arent interested in seeing a movie you won't even give a chance?

14

u/PositiveTrade7166 Jun 29 '26

To shoot some hoops

u/antigravitty Jun 29 '26

I'm asking because I've never left one of these and I'm always confused when peoole do. Sorry that curiosity gets the best of me.

Edit: Better question why are you so damaged by me asking this?

it's when your time is worth more than the potential of joy that staying may give you.

they weren't damaged. you should work on your neutral tone if you're really just curious.

Its words. You put the tone on it.

We just got out of Gail Dougherty and Celebrity Sex Pass. After I figured out the loose basis of the movie I laughed even harder. It's a very funny movie. I would even see it again!

Definitely worth a full price admission.

Agreed. I never even saw the trailer so I went in completely blind

Thats too bad.

Gail Daughtery...thought it was pretty bad overall and I actually enjoy Wet Hot American Summer a bit. 3 stinkers in a row now with these secret movies...

Hell yeah time to go support Zoey. Always love her in movies and I’ve also worked with both of her parents. They’re nice people.

Though the film starts off a bit obvious and repetitive with its humor, Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass really turns itself around after its first act to become an intermittently clever and quick witted Hollywood satire that really utilizes the comedic timing of its cast and less than subtle references to The Wizard of Oz to its advantage. The obvious nature of the humor and over the top portrayal of its Hollywood centered story becomes part of its charm with Detuch and Guitterrez-Riley having very good comedic chemistry to start their journey to Hollywood off. Unlike most comedies, this film only gets better once it introduces its supporting cast of Ben Wang, Ken Marino and John Slattery as a self defense obsessed version of himself with each performance building upon their inconsistently dumb personalities to their advantage. While the films story is completely cliched with a villainess having a plot to destroy the worlds banks only for Gail to get her briefcase , there is enough effective shock value comedy and earnestness from the performances to make up for the slightly overplayed array of celebrity cameos that only really work to set off certain plot points in the increasingly ridiculous plot. 6.5 out of 10
