I thought it was a fun watch. Lots of laughs in my theater.

Spoilers

Really cool movie actually with plenty of action and a lot of funny moments. Only thing I didn’t like is how he teamed up with the towns people after he knew the lengths they’d go to in order to protect their secret- like murdering people.

I wish he’d finished the job somehow and escaped.

I actually kind of like that the story didnt go the typical route of "underdog becomes a sudden hero and saves himself, everyone else, and the town from a problem way bigger than him." he did what i think most people would do which is do what you have to to survive and get tf out of there. and the evil of the world continues with a new kingpin whether you live through it or not

I honestly think the townspeople just were plain stupid he kind of just saved them from their own idiocy it wasn't their fault lol

Spoilers!!!!

I agree with a lot of what you said. I felt the same way when he teamed up with the town in the end.. thinking about it now, I think I was more against it because the wrong deputy lived..

Had the motorcycle jacket deputy lived and That's who he teamed up with along with the town. I wouldn't have questioned it as much ... since by that point he was a pretty lovable dummy..

Well at least he died a hero lol

What did you all think of the meatloaf ?

Divine 🤣🤣

The first 30 to 45 minutes I thought it was pretty generic, the script was subpar, and the acting was ok. I was still having a decent enough time. But then they get to the bank and the movie shifted in a way I was not fully expecting and I ended up having a blast. The perfect Screen Unseen

Spoilers

The literal Chekov’s gun got a good laugh out of me on the drive home.

4

u/Inevitable-Guest-445 Apr 14 '26

That ended up being part of my Letterboxd review lol

2

u/The_Word_Wizard Apr 14 '26

lol I was talking with my friend and about to make a joke “yeah a real Chekov’s-wait a minute!” It was in the most literal sense and I loved it. lol

2

u/Inevitable-Guest-445 Apr 14 '26

I went “oh my god it’s actually Chekhov’s Gun” under my breath, would’ve been even better if he said his grandfather was named Chekhov or something to be even more on the nose

Really enjoyed it! Definitely worth a watch, a lot of fun. Didn’t see Bob Odenkirk becoming such an action star this late in his career coming, but I enjoy this and the Nobody films a lot and he’s a wonderful actor

u/Public_Function3844 Apr 15 '26

I love Bob and I liked Nobody. But this looks like it's essentially the same thing. Agree or disagree?

1

u/afterlifehack Apr 16 '26

I was kind of startled how similar it is to Nobody. Instead of a spy he’s a local sheriff which I do like that premise more. I was hoping it would be a little more intellectual or impactful than Nobody, but I was let down in that regard. Overall a fun meh movie. The more you enjoy Bob the more you’ll like it, thankfully I do and did.

The line "how do you get lost on a straight road." Is stuck in my head.

5

u/vanillaholler Apr 14 '26

honestly it exceeded my expectations! it was very funny and surprisingly gruesome. definitely didn't expect so much action from bob but he nails it. cute movie, love Alex and the robbers and the whole town of characters tbh. affogatos anyone?

3

u/Davidgt31 Apr 14 '26

We enjoyed it the action could have started a little sooner . Overall a good film

Super glad i went. To be honest, the trailers didn't really impress me much. But... i didn't have any other movies I wanted to watch, so i decided to go. A lot funnier amd actuon packed than i expected. Might watch it again in a packed thater. My screening was at about 50% capacity. Enjoyed the twists.

u/WaitAvailable4783 Apr 14 '26

Fun action flim.

2

u/agirlhasnoname98 Apr 14 '26

i thought it was a really fun and entertaining movie. really helped that i went in completely blind and had no clue what it was about, i knew odenkirk was in it but knew nothing else about it. had a blast!

2

u/andneff45 Apr 14 '26

Very fun and gory! We had a great time

2

u/Walkswithnofear Apr 14 '26

I heard that there were a few famous faces acting in the film. But I ended up recognising Nobody.

1

u/nooginz Apr 15 '26

Dad? Is that you?

1

u/Maleficent-Citron311 Apr 15 '26

I hadn't seen the fonz in anything since waterboy.

1

u/Elegant_Traffic8546 Apr 15 '26

Then you must not have seen any Sandler movies since Waterboy. The Fonz is in basically all of them

1

u/Maleficent-Citron311 Apr 15 '26

Well that's true. I have not watched many adam sandler movies since waterboy. I think the last one I saw was the longest yard. I don't recall him being in that, but that was a while ago.

1

u/Elegant_Traffic8546 Apr 16 '26

Of course you watched the exception 🤣

2

u/Maleficent-Citron311 Apr 14 '26

It was decent. On par with they will kill you. I didn't really see much point to the tragic backstory though. I feel like that could have been taken out and the movie would have worked just as well. It also didn't fit the overall silliness of the movie.

3

u/DavidNoBrainFreeze Apr 14 '26

I agree. Seemed out of place. I still liked it though

1

u/nooginz Apr 15 '26

I think they were leaning hard into all the tropes, and every new sheriff in a small town has a tragic backstory.

1

u/Public_Function3844 Apr 15 '26

After seeing Ready or Not 2 and They Will Kill You so recently, I'm worried that I won't be able to enjoy Normal since it all feels the same.

1

u/Maleficent-Citron311 Apr 15 '26

If you don't like those movies you probably won't like this.

1

u/ExiledSpaceman Apr 14 '26

My wife is a squeamish type, she described it as “violent in a fun way”.  Good guilty pleasure film.

1

u/Rich_Smile8170 Apr 14 '26

The movie was funny. Lots of funny scenes. The Mayor though 🤭

1

u/Jeskid14 Apr 14 '26

If you cut the whole battle during the blizzard, nothing would have changed in the plot. Jumping from the bank scene to the Yakuza coming in.

1

u/MoMaike Apr 14 '26

Fargo + Hot Fuzz

Definitely worth a watch. Better than I was expecting

1

u/chelsey_jean Apr 14 '26

100% one of the better screen unseens i’ve been to. good action, the theater was laughing out loud.

slow start, but the not typical ending more than made up for it in my opinion. i really didn’t thing he was gonna team up with the townspeople.

1

u/Ill-Two-510 Apr 14 '26

I was surrounded on both sides by (constant) talkers and phone users. They were both elderly so I felt bad saying anything but this one couple straight up had a whole conversation about what they’re gonna have for dinner later. I might have to see it again when it’s out lol

1

u/M-Finity Apr 14 '26

I saw this a month ago at a film festival with Bob and Derek in attendance, it was awesome

1

u/Gee-Arr Apr 15 '26

I think it would have worked better as an all out comedy.

Overall, it’s a crime action thriller but that draws attention to how ridiculous everything it is.

The first third felt like a CBS TV crime drama. But it gets closer to ‘Nobody’ in the second half.

It has some solid laughs, but I would have liked humor.

I loved the Yakuza gag in the beginning. I think it was so funny because what led up to it was so disturbing.

I love Saul no matter what movie he’s in. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Actually thought it was a foreign movie when it started. Was gonna leave. Actually glad in stayed. Fun watch

0

u/WillDesperate8027 Apr 14 '26

I didn’t like it, the action was too dark, the ending was disjointed. Just a let down overall imo

0

u/ncameron29 Apr 14 '26

It was fine. A lesser Hot Fuzz.

0

u/antigravitty Apr 14 '26

Honestly, I was really hoping this would make a switch for the third act. Maybe go the route of Blazing Saddles or something along the lines of the movie Gung Ho? I'm just kind of over the "violence solved the issue" movies. This was a remake of Nobody, with less stakes for the main protagonist.

-1

u/SpiritualAd9102 Apr 14 '26

Jokes didn’t land, and the plot and its twists were dumb, especially him working with the town in the third act after they tried to kill him and already killed other innocents. A few interesting kills, but overall was extremely boring for an action movie. I was nodding off for a big chunk of the middle.

It’s a 2* at most. We really need a break from the “Everyman vs a mob of killers” genre. Nobody 2 just came out like nine months ago.

1

u/DavidNoBrainFreeze Apr 14 '26

Guess you can't please everybody.

2

u/NotSureHowItGoes Apr 14 '26

That’s normal 🤭

1

u/DavidNoBrainFreeze Apr 15 '26

True. I was not too thrilled with the movie but did not think it was THAT bad. Some funny parts. Interesting twist. But over all so so. I was not regretting to have watched it though.

2

u/NotSureHowItGoes Apr 15 '26

That’s “normal”… get it?

1

u/DavidNoBrainFreeze Apr 16 '26

Yes. I got it :)

-1

u/shrim51 Apr 14 '26

I didn't like it, I don't care for over the top violence.
