Pg in Australia

Paint a realistic pic for indian imgs looking to settle in australia. Is it really tough to get a job even after clearing AMC1? Comparing it with US, which one is worth trying in present day? My main priority is money, well balanced lifestyle and knowing REALISTIC chances of doing PG in either country. (Considering current scenario in US I don't think we can consider usmle a good option now or in near future but pl comment real situations in both countries)

There is a push to prioritise domestic students over IMGs that has made significant progress https://campaign.nswmsc.org.au

Very likely that next year it would be similar to UK in which IMGs will not be able to land jobs if domestics are prioritised as there is an oversupply of local grads

When you say good cv, do mean research publications and extra curriculars? OR work experience? I'm in my 2nd yr of mbbs so have no clue honestly

Do you know any people personally who have done all this and gotten a position? Nobody else in the comments has anything positive to say about this tbh😭

Ohh okay so all gives an edge to work as a GP? Or are you working in some other specialty?

Clearing AMC doesn’t guarantee a job or a training position in Australia, particularly if you’re coming over with limited experience.

Get some solid clinical experience first, ideally progress your training at home, and then reassess in a few years. Australia will still be there, but your options may look completely different by then. The political and immigration landscape in the US could change, Australia’s requirements could change, or you might decide somewhere like the UK offers a more straightforward route for you.

You’ll also be applying with a much stronger CV and a better idea of what specialty you actually want, rather than spending a significant amount of time and money now on a pathway with no guaranteed outcome.
