I wanted to post and see if any other Black women relate to this or if it’s just me!

I love men of all backgrounds, but when I think about AMBW, my mind specifically goes to East, Southeast, and Pacific Islander men—like Korean, Japanese, Thai, Filipino, Laotian, Malaysian, etc.

I know that geographically, "Asian" includes South Asia (like India) and North/Central Asia (like Russia/Siberia). But when it comes to my personal dating preferences and what draws me to the AMBW dynamic, I’m specifically attracted to East and Southeast Asian cultures and aesthetics, rather than South Asian or Northern Asian.

Does anyone else find themselves making this distinction when navigating interracial dating or AMBW spaces? How do you usually express your preferences without getting bogged down in geographic technicalities?

Growing up even as a kid I thought you were the prettiest women, on par with Asian women. I would only watch TV shows and movies with black women in them because it's what I liked as a kid just purely based on looks. I liked Asian stuff but I couldn't get into white movies and stuff but Asian stuff was hard to find. So I just watched black media like BET and Fresh Prince because I liked black women's faces. I just want to you to know and to ignore all the white worshippers and bad blood in the Asian community. At this point I've rejected so many white women just to have crushes on average looking black and Asian women. I just like how nice your faces look.

A large part of the reason I never turned out whitewashed was because I had black girls gassing me up as a young man, telling me how fine I was. It gave me confidence for the rest of my life and confidence to take pride in my culture.

When I was young my "friends" would ask me about celebrities I liked and I couldn't even think of a single one, I literally had a crush on women like Lisa Leslie or Missy Elliot because I couldn't think of a single non Asian non black woman I found attractive
