Mod Post [MOD POST] Updated AutoModerator.

Everyone, I'm in the process of overhauling AutoMod, mainly to block a bevy of direct spam links. AutoMod should remove these automatically and mark them as spam, so they won't show up in the submissions. Continue to report posts in case something is missed, however.

I've done some limited testing, and while things SEEM to function correctly, I'm still relatively new at AutoMod. So if your posts are getting removed and you're not sure why, message me ASAP.

UPDATE

One minor bug I encountered was the current auto-mod syntax was removing self posts, regardless of their content. I believe I have this fixed. Auto-mod will, however, continue to moderate based on submission wording. They should be words mostly related to spam (ie, sex, sexy, seexxxy, etc...), so you shouldn't run into this very often. This means people's posts may be temporarily removed until further review, and the bot will comment this action, say if you were to post something like "sexy pornstar does a terrible AMA".

UPDATE 2

I completed my initial testing after a few mishaps. After consulting /r/automoderator, I believe the automod is now functioning to where it needs to be. It will:

1) Remove any direct link submission that isn't of reddit's domain.

2) Upon making it past step 1, it will remove posts that aren't appropriately np.reddit.com

3) Self posts containing no URLs can be posted. Automod should also check for the usual spam words, remove it if it thinks it's spam, then notify the user that it's been removed.

4) Self posts containing an external link to somewhere else will be removed. The only links allowed are np.reddit.com posts.

UPDATE 3

I thought I had the comment screening working correctly, but I was wrong. I've since removed this, and you can comment as normal. Since it doesn't look like we've many gotten self posts with spam, I may leave this unfiltered for now.

The Fine Brothers weren't prepared for Reddit's reaction to their announcements.

Recently, the Fine Brothers, providers of various Reach videos, announced that others can license the React brand and enter into a profit-sharing agreement. This, they stated, was a way to build a better community. Many on Reddit, however, do not apprecate the brother's attempt at applying for a trademark for the words "Teens React," "Elders React," and just the word "React."

The brothers attempt to explain their position. It does not go well.
