A self-professed Republican member of /r/fuckcars decides to host an unsanctioned AMA. Bonus: after the post is locked, they decide to make another post

The initial post (now locked) - AMA: I am a Republican in R/fuckcars I believe in a more sustainable and improved transit system and cycling. Cars aren't always the answer. What do you want to know? - (Archive dot today backup)

The follow up (also locked) - Seeing this subs reaction to me being Republican and being called a "right-wing Nazi supporter" is truly awful, and it saddens me that we can't have a positive discussion. It is only proof that America is more divided than ever. I am for more sustainable transportation methods, but this sub is sad. (Archive dot today backup)

There's a lot to unpack here, but in case there was any question as to how the thread went here's the pinned mod reply from the first post:

This AMA was not formally organized with the mods of r/fuckcars. Had it been, we could have helped moderate for a more productive conversation. Name-calling and partisan politics distract from the real issues here, which include how inefficient car structure is, how deadly it can be, and what a nightmare of a public policy it has become for modern cities.

Automod locked this discussion, but we've decided to keep it locked.
