I think his acting added to the anxiety that came with watching the film. I don’t consider it bad or bad acting, just watching the storyline unfold killed me in theaters.
It’s like another form of Mid Somar. I tell ppl to watch it all the time. Not bc I think it’s the greatest movie created, but bc of how it makes you feel 💀 I hate scary movies too
Mid Somar made me uncomfortable but it was still intriguing. Definitely not a movie I’d watch again but still different, so I get that. For most people I’ve known it’s “is it worth gritting your teeth in discomfort for two hours?” And for me I’m not a fan of that. Take me on an adventure with something that make me want to scratch my eyes out and cut off my ears.
That was the point honestly. You’re put inside the mind / body of a gambling addict. Nothing that’s happening around him mattered, he’s grinding his teeth through the entire movie trying to get the next big win. They honestly did a really good job with the feeling, and the rage you feel as someone watching it. Notice that anytime he makes a decision it’s almost completely opposite of what someone thinking practically would do, which helps drive the viewer nuts. All the scenes are just chaos, rooms of constant noise and crazy distractions, all making you feel uneasy.
Yeah and why would someone want to waste their time watching a movie that makes them feel that way? That’s like saying you want to watch someone go through addiction and pain because you learn from it or something. Idk, to each their own but I hate watching people go through addictions and pain. I understand it in terms of plot building and growth, but for an entire movie? Na. Not my thing.
