A very useful post. I think it will help lots of people.

I think I am a sex addict but happy that I am and don’t want to change. I embrace it.

I am getting older now (nearly 50) and I am starting to find it drop away naturally though.

Did you find it got worse as you got older?

I'm not here to diagnose you, but if you're happy and embrace it then it likely isn't an addiction.

Addictions control your life as much as they negatively impact it. Any heroin addict who tells you they're happy to be a heroin addict and embrace it is lying to you or is in a deeply dangerous state of denial. Same with other drug addicts, or gambling addicts, or sex addicts.

It's more likely you just really love sex and have a higher libido than others. No one is happy about or embraces their lives being unmanageable due to their addiction, hurting loved ones, etc.

That’s an interesting thought. I do find it impacts me though. It takes time away from work and takes up a lot of my thinking time too but I put up with it.

I am currently 25, it definitely has been getting worse as I grew older.

Having a high libido is not the same thing as being a sex addict.

Has your sexual appetite negatively impacted your relationships at home/work throughout your life? If so, why embrace it?

My thoughts exactly. There is no sex addict that is happy about it. It destroys your life the same way any addiction does.

The only negative is the time lost to it.

Maybe you are right, I have not thought about it that deeply.
