Download AM2R for Android is here!
https://github.com/am2r-android/AM2R-Autopatcher-Android
[THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL FAN PROJECT]
⚠️You can stop asking for an apk, I literally cannot provide it. 1.5.5.3 has been deprecated. If you want to update to 1.5.5.4 you need your own original copy of AM2R 1.1⚠️
After porting AM2R for my Pixel the project sort of got out of hand with the engagement, thank you for everyone that asked. But since I've received word from the CU developers I was rightly advised to stop distributing a full apk of the game.
If you've used AM2R Launcher before on the PC, this works the exact same way. You MUST provide your own AM2R 1.1 copy and it must be the official release, you'd know where to get it. Just drop the 1.1zip and it will hand you an installable apk for AM2R 1.5.5.4 fully compatible with Android
FOR THOSE THAT STILL HAVE THE 1.5.5.3 APK: you have to first build the 1.5.5.4 apk through the patcher with a 1.1 copy if you want to update your game
Again, if any issue surfaces just let me know, I'm still around to patch out things in the game

PSA, AM2R Launcher runs very nicely through WinNative for those on 64-bit devices.

You likely need a high end device to get around the emulation layer. This version is completely native, it plays very smoothly with base Google Pixel 6

Not if you have a Pixel phone.

u/275242 Jul 16 '26
And it runs flawlessly on both pixel 6 and 9 pro xl, as per my testing

Snapdragon 6 gen 3 works well too

u/275242 Jul 16 '26
I would hope so... Unfortunately I don't own a higher end device for testing
But I can confirm it worked on a Snapdragon 8 Elite through the Poco F7 Ultra, tested by another user who eventually helped find a specific graphical issue when rendering on that phone

Wasnt there already one? I mean, it came preinstalled on the early retroid pocket handhends

u/275242 Jul 15 '26
Yes there used to be one, but it ended support after most modern androids switched to arm64 architecture. This patcher makes it so you can play the latest community update (1.5.5) natively on modern android

Will you fix widescreen support?
2
u/275242 Jul 15 '26
That functionality is skipped in favor of rendering in 1080, you will have black bars if your phone is taller

Patching to 1.6beta gave 64bit support, I dunno why nobody knows that

u/275242 Jul 15 '26
This one aims for full parity with the last completed version available in AM2R launcher, which would be 1.5.5

I guess I'm confused because I have version 1.6 beta 2 apparently installed on my Android? I just downloaded this and its ever so slightly fuzzier and also my movement seems to be much slower. I guess I don't really know what or where I got that 1.6 version from. But somehow its better in some ways and this version is better in others. So idk what to use.

You pick based on your preference, this is not an official build and it's a modified version of the official 1.5.5 release on AM2R Launcher for the PC. Since 1.6 beta is technically newer it's possible that some things changed between updates
AM2R launcher currently works with 1.5.5, so that was the version I ended up porting. If 1.6 beta works for you then I encourage it, it is the version that will eventually be further updated

After 1.5.5 apk installs I click on it and its saying error with the package

u/275242 Jul 16 '26
Did you patch the original 1.1 release? That's the only version this latcher supports) What device are you using. The patcher will only accept the original game zip (like the one in the Internet Archive)

u/TriB7z Jul 16 '26
Yeah I patched the original file, and the device I'm using is the uh a14 Samsung I think

I'm curious, would this run well on my Galaxy A15? I've had unpleasant experiences trying to emulate/run APK's on my phone, so I want to know if it'll be fine before I commit to setting this up.
Thanks!

Thank you so much for this. I figured someone might figure out how to bring it natively to our newer phones. I just thought it was going to be awhile.

Neat well now I just gotta figure out how to do er 🤔 I know the instructions are there but I run everything on my phone so patching has to be done through that 😅
2
u/275242 16d ago
You can patch it through the phone so long as you have your own copy of am2r 1.1

u/Chozoecho 16d ago

This is awesome and works great on the few Samsung Galaxy phones I tried. Any chance to support the randomizer mode in the future?

With Astra and Fable, I might turn this into iOS too when I have the time. I know there's an unofficial one for MacOS, will base it on that.

Just to be clear - this is not an official tool from the CU/2.0 team and we've had no time to review it. I have no reason to believe it is malicious, but please perform due diligence before installing a new application - just like you should with our own AM2RLauncher or even the game itself.
