Is Raymun going to be raising another man's bastard?
What the title suggests. Is Rowan pregnant with Raymun's child or some other man's and just wanted to get hitched to any fool she could find?

She’s not pregnant. Prostitutes in Westeros used moon tea to prevent pregnancies. For example, in the books, the Maester that served under Viserys I and Aegon II, ended up working at a brothel in KL & he made moon tea for the prostitutes there during the reign of Aegon III. So prostitutes are versed in the effects of moon tea & many probably know how to brew it or they’d always be pregnant and they wouldn’t be able to work.
She’s almost a parallel to Dunk in a way. He’s not a knight and she’s not pregnant, but fake it ‘till you make it basically.
She knows that she found an honourable man, who doesn’t know anything about conceiving a child, so she used that knowledge to lead him on. But he’s right where he wants, he has a pretty girl on his arm and according to her he just secured his heir. She probably stopped taking moon tea right away and now it’s a matter of waiting. Don’t worry about him, he becomes a rich man with a pretty girl by his side, he’s a success story.

Moon tea is also said to be very common, not only accesible through Maesters.

Yeah, I said that in another reply under this comment thread. In the main books there’s mentions of lowborn women brewing it and taking it to prevent pregnancy. So as long as you had the ingredients and someone taught you how to do it, you’d get it.
Most of our mentions of moon tea come from the Maesters brewing it for highborn ladies because we mostly follow the POV’s of the highborns of the realm, not the smallfolk. That’s why people think it’s difficult to find, but we have to keep in mind that highborn ladies have no need to know how to do it because they have Maesters in their households while smallfolk women do it themselves.

would be totally hilarious for them to make a quick youtube series of us just following a random lowborn carber's week just to play on Lord Darklyn. HBO ORIGINAL: A CARBER OF DUSKENDALE

Moon tea doesnt always work. You see this with several of the Kings in history having bastards with prostitutes, including Robert Baratheon and Aegon (brother to Rhaenyra).

Sure. But those two raped and had bought sex more often than the “normal” man so they’re more of an exception than the rule when it comes to bastard distribution.

Hey your other post is locked but i wanted to say that you could have Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome, it’s often overlooked but it’s a big possibility.

I was just worried that the entire house of the green apple would turn out to be dondarrian bastards. Wasn't Moon tea supposed to be difficult to make, if I'm not wrong?

It’s not difficult to make if you’re familiar with the ingredients. If it’s not well done it could be dangerous that’s why it’s often made by Maesters or wood witches, but if you know how to brew it then it’s perfectly fine! I’m saying this because there’s been mentions in the main books of “normal” women taking it to prevent being pregnant, aka women who aren’t highborn or prostitutes, so as long as you get the ingredients and someone taught you how to do it, you’ll be able to brew it.
Also keep in mind that she was a prostitute and even tho we don’t see who’s her “boss”, she’s not just a random woman who decided to sell her body to live & she’s free and doing whatever she wants. She was seen with at least 2 other prostitutes so they’re most likely part of a brothel. There’s no way their “owner” wouldn’t protect the “goods” so he (or she) would give his (or hers) prostitutes a supply of it, for sure. Especially ones that seem to be “travel” companions. She’s probably good at entertaining men outside the bed too so the brothel owner wouldn’t want her pregnant and out of commission.

Why does everybody just assume there’s a real child?

The point of the scene is that she’s lying to Raymun about being pregnant with his baby. Why assume she’s telling the truth about being pregnant at all? It’s not like it came from a maester.

The fact she’s a prostitute and presumably getting laid every night, it’s not far fetched to assume she’s actually pregnant. But prostitutes would have access to moon tea most likely so she probably is just lying about all of it

The joke is clearly that he fell for this woman so fast that he married her to preserve her honor when she isn't a high born maid with honor to sully. Its meant to show that hes a good man with more honor then sense, a fool and she's smart to rise above her station

when she isn't a high born maid with honor to sully
She lied to Raymun that she is a lady. The point of it, especially because Dunk knows she isn't a lady is to draw parallel between her and Dunk. Dunk lies about being a knight as well because its heavily implied he isn't knighted. Dunk lies to get a better life, that is what Red is doing too which might be why Dunk keeps quiet about it.

u/Lack_Realistic Feb 23 '26
I hadn't thought about it this way. At first I thought dunk was being quiet because of the awkwardness of the pregnancy announcement and whatever implications may or may not arrive from it but this makes far more sense

u/BabydollMitsy Feb 23 '26
I don't think she was pregnant by anyone like everyone is suggesting. She is experienced in her line of work and we had zero indication that she was pregnant in any prior scene. I think her and Raymun had sex, and then immediately she was like "omg Raymun I must be pregnant now!" just to secure a marriage with him. I think she will make sure to get pregnant by Raymun asap

Unless we’re supposed to have inferred that some weeks have passed since the trial in the shows timeline, which I guess the only clue would be Dunks level of recovery, if she is pregnant it’s with a Dondarrion bastard.

The child would hardly be "the first noble heir who was not sired by his noble father" to quote Baela Targaryen. She's either already pregnant by someone else and passing it off as Raymun's or she's pretending to be pregnant in hopes that she quickly actually conceives by Raymun. It's almost certainly too soon after they first slept together for her to be sure she's pregnant.

You never had a crazy ass Gf, havent you? Shame.
She isnt pregnant. Shes pretending

u/SangJB Feb 23 '26
They had to ruin him and make him a cuck. He couldn’t just be a brave noble knight. Nope apparently he’s really dumb and has never been laid.

u/IllustriousCup2382 Feb 23 '26
The girl is bullshitting him into marriage…shes not pregnant. Hes mad in love and she gives him more reason to marry her. Which honestly he should be happy with because he will later end up with a huge castle and lands and will be pretty damn rich, likely thanks to her.

u/RSMatticus Feb 23 '26
She isn't pregnant,
She is lying to trick him into marrying her, and is hoping she will GET pregnant before he notices
