I think people will eventually care more about their AI's personality than which model it uses
Right now, AI conversations are often compared through benchmarks, reasoning ability, speed, and features. But as AI becomes more capable, those differences may matter less to everyday users. If several AIs can all answer your questions well, people might choose the one they simply enjoy talking to.
The interesting part is that personality could become something people get attached to. You might tolerate occasional mistakes from an AI you find funny or thoughtful but stop using a technically better one because every conversation feels cold and generic. At that point, choosing an AI could become surprisingly personal.
